Great vid this, used to love fishing the Wharfe when we were younger.Spent days on end on Newton Kyme stretch, last fished this with my dad just before he passed away, always remember his face getting dragged down river with barbel on old cafe stretch.
What a lovely comment, so pleased for you, having great memories with your dad, sorry to hear he passed away mate. Just remember the good times. I’ve not fished this river, but would love to. Tight lines
What a fantastic video, reminds me some of my favourite times fishing. I used to do exactly the same as this, feed 4-5 swims, then spend up to an hour on each one. No chair, 1 rod, 1 bankstick, laning net and collapsible bait bin which also held the spare tackle.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost my login password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Louis Davian Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Pretty much going to be me near Tadcaster on the wharfe as a new angler was recommended very much the similar set up (Opportunist 12ft 1.75 xtnd with latitude I chose the 5000), my idea of a perfect day out to myself, I'm taking a chair though, if I sit on the ground I won't get back up again 😅. Cheers.
Looks like a great bit of fishing, I've always loved river fishing from when I used to go with my Dad. Would this 8ft rod be suitable for float fishing? My local river is not very wide but has got some awkward swims with lots of tree branches around, when I've tried fishing it before with my 11ft rod I find myself struggling to cast without catching on branches, I think around 8ft would be ideal.
Great little video guys. I'm all about the opportunist approach these days, what with real life getting in the way of the important things like fishing. Romans a really good presenter too 👍
Hi, would these rids cope with casting heavier weights e.g. 4/5oz weights for flooded rivers? Also are they suitable for sea float fishing? Many thanks.
Absolutely cracking video, love it!!!! What I want to know though, is, how much do Korum pay the anglers in all those best swims to bugger off?? It has to be probably over £200 or the other anglers just wouldn’t budge!! Gorgeous Barbel.
In all honesty Dean i don't know what the stretch is called or who has the fishing rights to it. I just met up with Roman and did the filming. All i know is its the river Wharfe lol.
fantastic fish m8 ,what a lovely bit of river you got there just having a chuckle to myself what ppl are missing who dont go fishing

Super video. What length of the rod? Thank you.
Thank you Milan, The Rod used in the video is an 8ft Korum Opportunist Rod.
OK, thank you very much
Dumb question from a new angler but could this same equipment and tactics be used for river carp as well?
Yes of course.
Absolutely cracking video, love it!!!!
