I loved this show and Marti Kane was perfect to present this. You could tell she really supported the acts and championed them no matter poor they were. I used to enjoy the banter between nine mishcov and Marti who always defended each act that Nina criticised. What al joy to see the old 80s adverts especially the one featuring Roald Dahl.
3:22 Donna Lewis had a big hit in 1996 with "I Love You Always Forever". I can't see anything on her wiki page that suggests she was even on this show.

My dad was a removal man . And moved Marti kanes belongings . She gave him a £5 tip . He actually gave it her back and said " if thats all you can afford , you need it more than me " , i was gutted ,i was 12 and he could have give it me .
What qualified any of them, frankly. Nina was a columnist in The Sun who was employed here as a kind of pantomime villain, just like they have similar judges on things like strictly now. It's all very old stuff, contrived and fake.
@@russellthompson9271 Her criticism of the singer-pianist was only what any casting director would have said. Clegg and Christie's 'impressionist act' died a painful death before a largely unimpressed audience, and they managed to make Les Dennis and Dustin Gee look like professionals.
Looks like they went back to obscurity. They were awful anyway! That sexist comedian was naff and that singer-songwriter woman simply wasn't good enough. That band looked and sounded awful. Shocking how dated it all looks now!
They were arrested as soon as they left the theatre and put on trial for crimes against comedy. They were found guilty as charged and both served 20 years.
Mate of mine used to meet Marti after this show and head off to a hotel for a night of companionship (wink). She used to telephone him on her off days... He’d travel up north on the train as well to meet her if she was working up there. He’s the cousin of a well known actor.
We went to one of these shows in Birmingham and it was awful, it was constantly being stopped by the producers, each act had to do it more than once one guy did his act 4 times they made the audience clap for the cameras when their wasn't anything to clap about, Marti didn't interact with the audience at all, we'd planned to go for a drink and something to eat after the show we left before it ended and just made it in time to get a drink the show at this point had already over run by one and a half hours.
this sounds cruel, but as Most & Myskow are on the panel, Does anybody have the guy who tried to do Tommy Coopers hat routine, mucked it up, genuinely .,got no laughs & spun off to what he admited would be "a sitting ovation".
I loved Marti back in the days, I still do. I think Nina is in the wrong business because she takes enormous pleasure in humiliating the acts and the artists. These guys were not professional. They needed a couple of constructive criticism and guidance so that they could improve their acts. Nina thought she is clever if she destroys these guys in front of millions. Never liked her in those days, still don't.
Don’t know how they can say all the comedians stuff was old? Some jokes I had never heard before or since but his unfunny stabs at the audience were terribly. The singing piano player spent too much time staring into the camera instead of just being natural. The woman with the feather in her her just wasted 3 mins of her life from 36:05 to 39:20 performing one of the worst acts ever. As for Marti Caine’s outfit - the open chest look was just abysmal.
LOL ! I hate to admit it, but Nina was more entertaining than the contestants ! I have to confess, I found it cruelly amusing watching her shred them !

Awe i remember Marti Kane - bloody hell what a trip into the past.
Marti Caine what an amazing woman she was so much talent and especially with the struggle she had to become a star.

There’s certainly new faces in the country since then,

Marti kane was brilliant 😂😂😇👍
Ha ha, I knew Max Bacon. Local Milkman and of course sang for Mike Oldfield. I did a photo shoot for Max a couple of years after this.
Max Bacon was a milkman?
@@LogoMan7777 Yes. Dale Farm.
@@Ian-gw2vx From Dale Farm to a top 20 U.S. hit to New Faces.....
When adverts were brilliant aswell!!!
Max is performing "The Hunter", which went to #14 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart in 1986 for his old band GTR.

She didn't have to give him anything!
£5 was still an excellent tip in those days .
Fuck £5 was massive then
Mickey Most was still at it ?? Blimey he was a judge when I watched New Faces 1976 !
@midtofoles yes I remember him on that show it s on youtube
So exactly what qualifies Nina Myskow to be a judge?
Or even be on telly for that matter?
She was harsh but without reason not knowledge.

She took a lot of stick for being honest. There were a lot of average to mediocre acts on it. Marti thought they were all smashing which was bullshit.

What qualified you to write two sentences when there ought to have been only one?
Did Marti dye her hair a different color every week?
can anyone give any info on Clegg and Christy? Who were they and did thfy get up to anything?

Wow. Chris tarrant too
In the days when Chris Tarrant couldn't BUY a successful show...
I was on that year.
Ran concurrently with Opportunity Knocks. The precursors to Britain's got talent.
Loved the adverts not an immigrant to be seen 😁😁😁

What happened to Marti Caine?
Marti Caine sadly passed away in 1995.
It's almost as if punk rock never happened.

Max Bacon and his mullet .Now that's a class double act. This show should have been called 'New Feces'.
Living proof that weekend TV in the UK has always been absolute rubbish, no matter which era.

I liked Al, and thought his humour and delivery was hilarious! I loathe Nina.
