- Glenfarclas 105 is one of the most ubiquitous cask strength Single Malts on the market, and once in a while Glenfarclas releases a special age stated version. This specimen is is 22 years old, and (for that age) still radically strong at 60% abv (120 proof). It isn't a subtle whisky by any stretch. It's a brutally flavorsome, rough and tumble dram that acutely focuses the Glenfarclas style.
The cloudiness is a thing of beauty.
Something to return to this channel for.
I love the regular 105, and wish I could find the 22 year old edition... Wish me luck!
It's still available here, so there must be some around.
Love you guys! Don’t ever change!
Glenfarclas are know to put the raw whisky at 70% ABV into the casks used for maturation. Therefore they can make a 22 year old 105.
Great review!
Great review. I am lucky enough to have two bottles of this in the stash. The scotch mist was incredible. I am going to have fun with that when I crack one. Interesting discussion regarding previous reviews you have done and how you would rate them differently now. I always thought your Kilkerren 12 scores were a little low. It would be interesting to know what you thought of it now.
Oh yes , something new and interesting !
I have a tormore 13 from Gordon & McPhail cask strength that goes from clear to milky upon the addition of a tiny amount of water. Reminds me of adding water to a pastis.
The 22yo 105 was put out in celebration of 50 years of the Glenfarclas 105 bottling. I don’t think you will see another 22yo 105 for along time.
Nice mist... too much water out of the gates though... I like to ease into it.
Awesome review guys! Gotta ask how much this bottle went for in your neck of the woods?
You can pick this up here for around $NZ 230, which is $USD 150
Thanks for the reply! Pretty darn reasonable considering the specs here!
I never got over that shock of pepper/alcohol - The Glenfarclas 105 with 10 years is so much better and cheaper IF you can find a bottle :-)
Sadly I haven't see a bottle of the pre-NAS 105 for many years.
dat mist dou!
