    I really liked the idea of using it as a support spell. Never would have thought of using it that way

      Honestly control spells in general are terribly under utilized!

    I play a sorcerer paladin, and I love this spell. I cast cloud of daggers, and on my next turn i use a quickened lighting lure to bring an enemy into it, and then cast booming blade with smite. So now they have to sit there and fight me while they are being bombarded with knives, or retreat and take thunder damage. To which I then chase them and use lightning lure again until they have to deal with me.

    Great for yanking archers and other enemies off rooftops.

    I see this spell as the energy whip Doctor Strange does.

      I thought of it more like a lightning version of the Death Knight Deathgrip ability in World of Warcraft

      Yukio from deadpool 2 did something like that too.

    Whipping out lightning at a moment's notice. Sure, why not? This could perhaps be used to throw enemies off balance, force them to switch targets (don't pull them to you, but to one of your allies), yank them down from high ground, whip them off a narrow walkway and most importantly catching somebody, you are chasing.
    Pretty useful if it weren't for the wording prohibiting the targeting of objects.

      I love the visual effect behind this. I'd love to have a bard who does improve, and have him use Lightening Lure to select members of his audience haha!

    I like flavoring this spell as my character actually having a physical hook and chain and when they reel in the enemies they just discharge electricity through the metal chain frying whatever it hooked up lol (they are a pirate btw)

    This would be perfect for an angular wizard. I guess you could they fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Lash this out on a rainy day and zap everyone in sight, or just to magnetize armor while also giving them a zap.

      Dm: roll for damage.
      Me: nat 20
      Dm: the entire lake gets electrocuted, and any fish living in the lake dies, and starts to float on the water's surface.
      *Damn, that is OP*

    Is that a real hand? I’m pretty sure the hand is a computer graphic, but my brother says it’s a real hand being filmed…

      This is very smart, change it from lightning lure to thorn whip and it suits my druid perfectly, mix it with create bonfire and drop them into the fire, I think it’s a great mix, at 5th level it’s 3d6 +2d8 damage.

    What about using this cantrip on a Large or bigger creature? Could a player in theory yank a low flying dragon out of the sky, or pull a giant in close?

    I plan on using this for my bladesinger. My thought process is one of the best situations I could be in, is a fight on a bridge or over a cliff or somewhere high up, I jump off the bridge and cast Lightning Lash on an enemy to pull them to fall with me, then cut them up with my attack(s) (depending on if I have haste) then bonus action teleport back to sturdy ground. Would be badass.

    This spell is really ideal for magic adept barbearion.

    But what happens if you cast point blank range? Do they take the damage automatically because they ended within 5 ft of the Spell?!

    • @ChancesSpellbook
      @ChancesSpellbook  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I would say yes! I can see where the confusion might be, so I'd ask your DM just to stay on the safe side!

  • @yosoyhansolo

    I'm thinking about using it with the magic initiative feat. On my fighter to give me an extra 15 ft of reach if I can't get to a target in one turn to bring them into melee range
    My only concern is the saving pro would be calculated with charisma if I'm not mistaken so the saving throw might be pretty weak

  • @andrewpaul8732
    @andrewpaul8732 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Theres nothing in the rules that says you canc hoose to fail a saving throw. some spells say that you can like circle of truth i think does it but its not standard practice

    I did this to the blue dragon in storm king's thunder, no damage but I pulled her towards me with lighting lol.

    Gust or the telekinetic feat and even gust of wind spells are better to push allues out of combat bc this can do 16 hp damage and when you want to move them is to save then due to them havin low hp or to keep them from loosing concentration. Combines well with traps.

    Trying to think of a tank caster build using this cantrip. Since there are no aggro mechanics in DND I think it has good potential as a way of forcing dm to deal with you with creatures.

      Stone sorcerer with twin spell and quicken spell meta magic. Bring two opponents towards you and then use sword burst as a bonus action. Stone sorcerer has unarmored defense based on constitution. Get tough feat and you have a really tanky caster that can use a reaction to get in the middle of fights.

      I have it on my eldritch knight! Combo with booming blade. pull them in and either next turn or action surge cast booming blade so that if they try to escape they take the extra damage!

    Could I use it to pull a dresser away from a door it's blocking? Or would it have to be a mimic for that to work?

      By RAW it looks like it would have to be a mimic, however I'd ask your DM!
