Steve literally has a video for every problem I encounter with my house. Replacing Symmons shower valves, oil furnace maintenance, AC repair. Fantastic.
Great work, Steve. Not only is the copper going to be more aesthetic, but if they forget to winterize again, the pipe will probably burst before the valve does.
You do good work Steve. I had one go on my house. Good thing I was home. My neighbor knocked on my door and told me the anti back feed was spewing like Niagara falls. If I wasn't home it would have been a problem since the shutoff is inside.
I had my own backflow test and repair business for years. That Watts 800 M4 PVB is the only backflow valve I would use from the Watts line. You did a great job.
Clean work, only thing I’d do different is plastic mip to copper fip and let the solder settle a little longer before wiping the joint with wet rag, gives it a nice clean finish
Back when steve's truck was in the shop for the brake repair the wife and i were out for a ride and i pulled into a little variety store and looked over to my right and there it was up on ramps the ice cream truck. On the way out i said to the wife hey look its the ice cream truck. She said its not ice cream its a repair mans truck. I said no its the ice cream truck and baby the dog sits right in that window. She looked at me and said maybe we should go home so you can lay down. When we got home i showed her a couple vids so she would get what i was talking about. She just smiled and said you still should go lay down. Had to share this with you folks..
backflow preventer on 1" water main at my job plugs solid with manganese mud every other month all year round. they're required now on all dairy farms in the usa. complements of a shallow 60' well
Why not incorporate a union /flange fitting, that would allow disassembly later, in case something like one valve was damaged, etc? Perhaps because that might not require a plumber every time?
Oh, right ... this is an underground sprinkler system ... so a break in the system and a drop in water pressure might allow contaminated water to enter the household H2O supply ... I got it now. Thanks, ES.
The one he is doing is actually a PVB. I am a service tech at an irrigation company here in MD. We always like to blow through the backflow preventer to purge it thoroughly. Although there are many people who disagree with it and say it can cause damage. I've never run into a problem like that to be honest with you. Hope this helps and good luck!
Is a backflow preventer always required for a home sprinkler system? I recently got a sprinkler system installed and the landscaper said a backflow preventer isn't required because the shutoff valve is too far from the solenoid valves.
You think this guy has done work like this as a pro for all these years and needs a protective guard on his grinder? It sounds like you should avoid power tools.

She summed up Steve’s work, “Oh, it’s beautiful.”
i realize it's kind of off topic but does anyone know of a good site to stream new series online?
@Immanuel Wallace Ehh lately I've been using Flixportal. you can find it through google:D -kalel
@Kalel Trevor Thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D Appreciate it !!
@Immanuel Wallace Happy to help =)
Really nice work, thank you for posting the video.

Steve: nice and neat job. You make it look soooo easy.

Steve you are one hell of a plumber sir!!!!
A shot of Bourbon and Steve Lav video's on a good ole Saturday ... what could possibly go wrong ... Lol ... Good vid ...
I like using male adapters to copper females in alot of different situations. Especially with yard hydrants. U do clean work man thanks for the vids
Steve, nice job on that setup, can learn a lot by watching your videos.
Nice repair Steve. Here in NJ we use backflow preventers on sprinkler systems as well.
Because it's international code to do so lol
Talk about doing the best you can, still puts out a 110% job even without the truck. Awesome.
Steve adapt overcome, even in non-work vehicle. Good job, Steven Lav.
Very good video. His soldering is really fast and his accent cracks me up. But I am from Texas! lol
What is the coolest thing about this video, (I guess small things impress me) is the Handle that keeps the cleaner and glue together....HAHA
That is some nice work. Thanks for the video.
Perfect job!
i like the combination channel locks/deburring tool. multi use while the taj mahal truck is down.
nice bit of cooper work pal
Nice clean job sir. You should put some advertiseing on your truck, no telling how long your mechanic is going to be guessing
Steve-o saves the day again

@14:37 doesn't a tap/hose bib need to be on the downleg of the vacuum pressure breaker?
"Oh, it's beautiful!" :D Nothing like a happy paying customer. :D ~Cindy! :)

Top work Steve
Good old Steve " like a grindstone cowboy" , what ever works.
Great video and job! Thank you for filming it.
That pvc female is going to split you have to make sure the plastic goes inside the metal that way it’s less likely to split the pvc
I love when he says a little dope, a little fritz. Now I can’t help but say it when I dope some threads
I lost my back scratcher.....how did it wind up on the dash of your truck?
i have a big deep mail box i use the back scratcher to help pull out the mail so i do not have to get out of the truck
Can give the baby dog a scratch from across the truck
Mookie Man
I miss baby dog, she ain't a pick up truck lover I guess?
I do too. I have to get out of the truck sometimes too. Thanks for the tip.
Professional work
Steven I hope they get your truck fixed soon, must be a pain having to use the pickup truck.

Why don’t you let the solder set in before wiping it?
Great work
Nice - thanks bud
nice job..
Steve I'd like to see a video of you grilling on the grill on 4th of July you haven't done one of those this year yet Pease
Thanks Steve, I'll hold off on nap!
Do you have to be certified to work on/test backflows in your state? We do in indiana
Odd ... these aren't required where I live. Thanks, Steve !
Rocket Rider backflow preventer so water in the sprinkler system doesn't get back into house water...
Oh, right ... this is an underground sprinkler system ... so a break in the system and a drop in water pressure might allow contaminated water to enter the household H2O supply ... I got it now. Thanks, ES.
Rocket Rider you got it bud enjoy your fourth
You too !
Primer isn't used for 'cleaning'. It's used to melt the layer of coating on the PVC for the glue to adhere too..
You are so cute when you think you know everything, you may be right, but not entirely, until then... When you get older you'll understand 😅
how does it work were you live because you have to a a AWWA license to test them and install them where I'm from?
It's byyooootiful!
Amazing deburr tool where’d ya get it?
Steve, can you blow air through the RPZ? I thought the port had to be on the other side of the valve.

Yes it is always required
great work!!!!!!
Why do they install these so close to walls?
Is there a reason why you wipe the joints after? I think it looks neater not wiped.
If you don't wipe your joints. The flux over time will cause the copper to turn green.
He came, applied gundy then chirped out in the mini bread truck. Nxt lvl mama
Working again. She' a butte, and right purdy too.
Still no truck?
Capilliary action Mama!
I would put a value on, instead of plug
Plastic female adapter ...good job
I did it awl in cawpah
Did anyone find this video very soothing and relaxing to watch ??
nice work...just do a video sayin "SOTTTTER"...u in "LLLLLONG IIILAND...? FROM S.C. with love.
I would give you a pat on the back.
2:49 You should probably have a guard on that grinder
You think this guy has done work like this as a pro for all these years and needs a protective guard on his grinder? It sounds like you should avoid power tools.
why are you using a power saw on PVC pipe. I think that is over kill.
ok lets not blow the lines out....all good and save some money! where is baby dog??? as im a dog lover
Terrible install. No union for future repairs, male metal into female plastic.
Is that the model you recommend? Watts 0388015
