    Great stuff. I especially liked what you said about "combining the best of both worlds". Many movies rely far too much on CGI, and the scenes end up lacking in atmosphere.

    • @nielsmichiels1939
      @nielsmichiels1939 9 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      PropaneWP The lord of the rings movies are the perfect example of this.while it had cgi most of the monsters like the orks and uruk hai were practical FX

    • @MarsForDeRige
      @MarsForDeRige 9 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      NIELS MICHIELS And the hobbit is a great example of too much cgi :/ It isn't as breathtaking as the old trilogy, because of its lack of realism.

    • @nielsmichiels1939
      @nielsmichiels1939 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      BoomCarrot i know ,right?
      I still don't get why it was more expensive to make the hobbit trilogy than the lotr trilogy.
      The lotr trilogy was filmed in the new zealand countryside and it was heavy on the practical FX side.
      How the hell does it cost less to make that than 3 movies who were pretty much filmed with nothing more than a green screen i will never know.

    1:52 blew my mind! I never realized that the Nazi-robo-legs from the kung fu research montage actually belong to the arcade machine! Look at those feet! I don't know if that's some seriously subtle foreshadowing or just the production crew re-purposing a 3D model, but that moment of realization made me laugh.

    • @SianaGearz
      @SianaGearz 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Irondrone4 It's intentionally connected. It took me 3 or 4 times watching the short before i caught it, but it was rather explicit in the montage at the end of the movie, so i blame myself for not noticing it earlier. When he kills the arcade machine, a side sticker peels off, revealing a Swastika. Fury contemplates "Where have i seen this before". Enter the montage which immediately shows the robot legs again.
      Chances are, the idea with nazis training robot legs came from the arcade machine idea initially.
      Perhaps they could have made it more explicit by forcing the viewer to focus on the legs of the arcade machine, i.e. by having a few frames where legs wiggle a bit but nothing else moves, or by having the arcade do the very same movement that the robot legs make when Nazis develop them.
