"Money is a measure of the value you are contributing to the world." Yes, please, tell that to all the teachers, doctors, social workers and everybody else who is literally making sure we as a society do not collapse.
i know right! The ones who educate us so we can get jobs, the ones that study for years and save people's, the people who make sure the people are feeling ok, and much more! That guy was hilarious to watch though 🤣
That sentence really stuck out for me too. He also believes Buddha would be the CEO of some company if he were here today. This guy is an inauthentic, un-wise CEO of his own cult/guru company.
@@deirdreniemann4044 this was my thinking and while his statement while rude, it was also was legit and accurate as it relates to how he deals about the management of our society . As much as we need education .. our education system does not support actual knowledge and progressive learning. So I’m that regard the teacher are paid accordingly .. according to his logic.
I remember Muhamad Ali once said "I do not trust anyone that treats a waiter badly because it means they would have treated me the same if I was in that position" The way he spoke to his assistance speaks volumes about him... Oh and this reporter is just jaw dropping beautiful.
not necessarily true....sometimes the wait staff is made up of entitled .........'s that drive ordinary people crazy. people give more care to friends than to strangers normally and this is probably why
That interview with him was very unsettling. The type of energy that would either make you hate him or walk away in tears. I bet he goes through assistants and partners like crazy.
Hahah very good you summed it up nicely. Also reminds me of a cult in 70's when more than 40 U.S states were bamboozled by fake guru who made up spiritual rules and run healing camps who was also from India.Turns out he was pedo and broke too many laws to count all while living lavishly .whole lot of communities coming out and talking about it now that we are connected with internet. Its over 100,000 people .
Agreed. Money is like a hammer or a shovel. In the wrong hands, they’re all weapons. If conscience guides your hand, a hammer can build homes, a shovel can plant a garden, and money can feed the poor. Money will never be a measure of your contribution to the world, but rather what you choose to do with whatever tools you have to work with.
I froze up and started feeling sick. That right there is an incredibly abusive man. If he's like this in the open, I can only imagine how bad he is behind closed doors. I thought he was going to hurt her when she said "guru". The outrage in his eyes..
@@slowdown7276but yet he ACTUALLY went on a spiritual journey. He left behind riches and pleasure. He ate what people offered and slept where space was given. That's not a CEO. @@madhavi.tinsley No we don't We need people of sound character willing to be of service to the good of humanity. I don’t get all these negative comments… at least they are trying to work on themselves and it’s all adults, using their own money .. and it’s based in some positive things. - aren’t you more outraged at the Christian or other religious people who rape kids??? At Scientology who doesn’t pay taxes and uses mob intimidation on people?? On politicians who USE PUBLIC TAX money to do their things, but stuff and do the worst vices??? What is wrong with this? Amazing racket! 400 people at $3,000 each = $1,200,000 for a 4 day “wellness retreat.” It’s an impressive con. Well done Vishen! You are right previous generations have nothing on you!
1.2 million yeah but he has to pay probably like 50 grand to rent out a spot like that for four nights in a row that's like 200k. Then he pays the servers, organizers and all these other people so he's making bank but he's not taking home the 1.2 million. Especially after half goes to the IRS
I like how real and authentic Sydney is. She stayed true to herself throughout, and that’s not always easy to do. I also like her sense of humor. She made me laugh too many times to count. And you are already a positive changemaker to the people in your life, of that I am sure. 🙏🏻
I love Sydney’s skepticism and how insightful she was.. to not feed into this absurdity… I hope she’s aware that her reaction to that breathing workshop was an internal alarm to RUN
Here’s the thing tho, this isn’t actually that weird of a practice. Trance practices were (and still are in many parts of the world) a regular part of every day life for most human cultures. Humans have always participated in this type of ritual in groups. It’s actually weirder that we no longer do it. To not have this sort of somatic experience means many people find other ways to be entranced- drugs, video games, Instagram, alcohol, sex, etc etc. So, while we can absolutely criticize many parts of this retreat and company, let’s try not to look down on something that is very human and that we would do well to actually include in our lives again.
@@NoamHalpert It's not though. The breathwork meditation is very real and can be incredibly intense. I walked my partner through one and she bawled her eyes out and felt so much lighter and more secure afterwards.
This interviewer did an exceptional job, bringing this mentality to light. It’s a joke. There is no self improvement, it’s chasing an idealism of a person. The “guru” is toxic and avoidant. The act of self improvement falls to ourselves. Our accountability. We can connect with one another by our actions towards self improvement. So it was rewarding for those that felt they got something from the experience. But wow what a journey. But again it’s just my interpretation.
I downloaded the app. It said NW. I deleted the app, but I feel like I may be hacked sometime in the near future. That was all jokes but I really do agree with your statement. Mental health is wealth and shouldn't cost 3k for a single retreat with a guy that started his career burning CD's.
What I enjoyed the most about this documentary is that not only Sydney kept her journalistic integrity and a healthy dose of detachment, but she managed to capture many facets of a tricky industry without judgement. That's wisdom and no festival can teach you that.
Did we watch the same video? Lol I thought she was so clearly viewing everything from her own lense that she couldn't even report the truth! Of course a lot of it is silly and a waste of money. But so? But she was snooty and rude and superior and did nothing to show how the experience really would be for someone actually participating. She was shoving her own judgements in everyone's face it's no wonder she made zero friends and nobody wanted to talk to her lol! She SHOULD have had some journalistic integrity and kept her personal biases out of it. If she wanted to fill in her opinion at the end fine, but you couldn't even see the truth of what the event was because she obliterated the vibe and skewed how it would have been if a negative brat wasn't ruining everyone's experience that they paid a lot of money for. Some people aren't rich who go to those things. Some people save for years. I'd have been pissed if she'd been there and I'd paid to be enlightened.
@@abbypitts3857i couldnt have said this better myself! she was right about the guy in charge being a total neg though, you can just tell in that clip with his assistant!
Guru, God, Love and more such terms have been bastardised and totally crapped on that it's understandable if anyone want to not associate with that. The amount of false people who abused 'guru'ness has caused a negative view about that word.
Working at an Executive Assistant for half my life with multiple leaders: I can tell you Sydney shows all the capacity for true leadership . She holds space for things she doesn’t understand, listens, learns, and does her best to actively engage as well as gather information critically to form her opinion. So many red flags about this “CEO”: if my leader ever opened a meeting saying we only have twenty-five minutes to ANYONE: we’d have a fight. It’s saying you’re not important when their office choose to schedule the meeting right before a closing ceremony ? I’m addition - the interview content was horrid. He wasn’t prepared. He didn’t have any rational or logical argument - it was all conjecture and opinion. The Buddha comment and the “Bedouin” party. What??? culturally appropriate and I guess call it spiritualism??? They also did that in the mediation - it’s from the Vedas and it’s called the Akash. It should be lead by an experienced meditation circle leader and it should NEVER be caught on film (it’s a violation of the purpose of the meditation and the group’s privacy). People are told to scream, yell, make animal noses… This summit it’s just a mosh of faiths that are sacred without context, guidance, or any spiritual understanding, which is dangerous and misguided. This place makes a mockery of faith and it humiliates people and they don’t even understand…Because they just want to be better people because being an adult is so lonely so their attracted to something branded as healing… when this summit long term will really just making you more lonley because it has no true purpose to enlighten, guide, or nurture. I work for a WONDERFUL leader today and literally yesterday - I should have flagged her sooner on a meeting. She pulled me aside. That’s trust. His assistant was just doing her job by interrupting. He treated her and Sydney as a reporter and he treated them like they were worthless, and frankly, came-off as classist and sexist. Dude is not an ethical person and he’s doing something fraudulent . This video has “misguided cult leader” and “embezzler” all over it.
that linda clemmons lady actually seems genuine, and she wasn't even wrong, body language changes the way people perceive you and she seems genuinely sweet and nice, unlike everyone else there
Well duh it's the most accessible and familiar seeming one. Breath work for example is ancient and practiced in most cultures. Just because it's not practiced in the modern western culture or is practiced by these people doesn't make breath work invalid.
there's a lot to learn about body language and its influence on our lives yet all she could come up with is how to walk sexy, garner male attention and be self important. if you think she had anything meaningful to say, sadly you don't know the depth of what you could potentially learn about the subject.
The irony of this whole event is beyond beautiful to me. The spiritually dead seeking guidance from their own kind. Wallow in your wealth, because me and mine are rich with life. That’s the thing with these people, they will always miss the mark. They create that barrier themselves by living the life that they do. How many suffering people did they have to walk past to attend this festival? Money might just be a measure of what you have to contribute to this world. Which leads me to another point of sweet, sweet irony. Those without money are more likely, in my eyes at least, to contribute positively. These people’s wealth just contribute to what’s been oppressing humanity for years. So they can go ahead and look for happiness in each other, but they’d do well to know that they won’t find it until they take a look in the mirror and examine themselves.
Bravo! A beautiful concise summary. The thing is, they might never be able to look in a mirror because sadly their ego has blasted their head up their butt. But never say never! I believe the impossible is possible. And had I grown up with such added inflated ego to my "identity" I might not have ever realized that we are 1,and that We Are All stewards of the planet. Perhaps its the age of the soul that manifests lives? I do believe in what u said about the amount of money we have and our contributions to the World. That's how I feel about celebrities. That's its their duty to enlighten the masses and they're sure doing a sloppy job about it. Thanks for the good read; that's always a good time! 1💜
This guy is a power-drive monopolist operating in the personal wellness realm. You could tell by the way that he spoke to his assistant, and disregarded the interviewer as soon as he thought the cameras were off, that all his loving/connecting messages actually mean nothing to him when it comes to his genuine interactions. He just enjoys elevating his status socially and financially by manipulating people.
What you see in people is a reflection of some aspect of yourself. The fact that you went on the journey and shared the experience with us already qualifies you as a change maker, you just have to embrace it.
By the end of this you can clearly see that they regretted inviting vice news, the way he's trying to keep the interview really short at the end and his defensiveness you can tell people were freaking out that vice news was there. People are realizing this might not look as positive as they were thinking
Actually no, I loved having Vice there. I just wished they mentioned that this was a non-profit and all the profits went to Ukraine. Also that all talks are made free on MIndvalley Talks youtube for the world to watch free
I kind of feel like Mindvalley is something we'll see an expose documentary on in a few years. But brilliant work for capturing this and showing all its facets. (And the body language teacher seems actually really cool.)
Wow I’m shocked but also not surprised at the same time. I was introduced to Vishen and Mindvalley 2 years ago by my mom who was obsessed with the whole thing. She had a Mindvalley subscription and would follow all the classes on the app. She even bought his book and bought me a copy so I can read it. Personally, I always felt like the Mindvalley bs was very cult like and even kept telling her this but she wouldn’t listen. However, I really enjoyed reading his book and learned life lessons that I still use to this day. But regardless, I always had a gut feeling something was off about the guy and his whole brand
Oh, he's in it for the money for sure - but it doesn't mean the practices themselves are all predatory. Kind of similar to how L. Ron nailed people in with Dianetics. I read that book when I was a teenager and it was full of good advice and workable methods to get your life on track - but then he moved people towards Scientology and we all know how that goes...
The tone of this piece was perfect. Savage where it needed to be, and also moments where earnestness from the interviewees was met with empathy from Sydney and the editing.
She's funny - I love her honesty. This is a bunch of weirdo rich people looking for answers they're not going to find in this BS. And the organizing guy was a real jerk.
The fact that he's doing this to the ultra rich, he's kind of a hero, most people aren't able to accomplish! May be you should learn to walk erect, like him.
Omg me too. I even bought that marie diamond feng shui course! Shes a complete scammer too. Im very spiritual and these people are all com artists. Hes a complete lunatic who secretly wants to be a cult leader. Most of those people are actually not rich, they WANT to be rich so theyre doing things they THINK the rich are doing because thats what he tells them. So they save, use credit cards and come to his culture appropriation festival
I had the chance to talk to a Native American chief-to-be, and I asked him about cult leaders and he said something that surprised me. He said that in indigenous cultures, there's not an expectation that a shaman is a good person, and in fact it's expected that there's something wrong with him. That there's kind of a trade off between getting spiritual gifts and then having something defective about your personality. He said this obsession with gurus in the west is a hold over from priest programming that tells us to believe that the spiritual leader can do no wrong, when in fact it's the opposite, that there's inherently something wrong with the people who are closest to that energy. I don't hold anything against Vishun, because he's clearly created some powerful things that have helped a lot of people, but the belief that he should then also be perfectly good is just naive.
I concur, I always get perceived as a nutcase saying I have shamanistic roots as a native. I've had many tarot card and oracle card reading from different spirituals screaming at me to seize the shaman's journey. SWIM has an absurd amount of psychedelic journeys under SWIMS belt (not much LSD); but natural plants. Always respected the nature and spirits within the sacred teachers. I myself have meditated, done breathing exercises, and dabbled with different realities using sleep/dreaming (until I had a terrible experience lucid dreaming). I truly do think that it's much like trading your own sanity, and your grasp on reality for knowledge. Lol I've been a brick in the road in ancient Rome for what felt like 100 years. You eventually leave the experience and try to integrate it, and learn as much as you can from it, however it eventually just warps your sense of time and reality. It's truly a deal with the devil. Nowadays I choose to enjoy my past journeys, I don't share much unless it's someone open to actually listening without judgement. I stay away from it aside from meditating. The true path is remaining stoic, remaining non-judgemental, accepting you aren't any better than anyone, not getting locked in the horns with greed, avoiding materialistic desires. One can share much more than money. Take a struggling friend or stranger to rehab. Make the phone calls and steps needed for them, and get them into your car to drive there when the day comes. I assure you that is much more help than just offering a few dollars. I appreciate seeing your perspective, I've been literally on the fence of both sides of spiritualism per say, and chose to turn down my shamanic calling for the same reasons you mentioned. Usually they're all seen as all knowing. I'm certain there are shamans who are truly gifted, however we can't paint all of them as these perfect all knowing people. They're still able to fall to the corruption of humanity like anyone else if they choose to.
I would get severely depressed if I attended this shitshow. The energy of all these narcissists is unbearable. I'm an empathetic person [learned because of abuse, not supernatural reasons] and I relate to her getting a panic attack when she was around the crazies so hard. I think I'd get extremely claustrophobic being there as well.
Same. I find that when I'm around false people I get very uncomfortable because they are playing a role and not being their genuine selves. People don't find happiness for a dollar price in a few days and attempting to package it that way is obviously about the money. I'd be hiding in my hotel room.
I was a guest at a small group type thingy at someone's house with maybe 8 other people. They started speaking in tounges and almost had a panic attack and Sydney was in a room with like 100 people. I would have passed out or something
Woah! 😮 Things are not always as they seem. Before watching this video, I had only ever seen Vishen’s commercials on TH-cam, and was shocked to see this darker side of him revealed. Amusingly, his commercial was played during the ad segment of this video 😂.
I used to sell life insurance, and we’d have lots of team building events that resemble this. And it looked like a very fun place to work with lots of people higher in the ranks taking interest in you and helping with every step of the way, through an entire 4 week training camp where we’d learn a 20 page sales script word for word. In the end we were writing faulty life insurance policies fully knowing they would not be payed out, and collecting the annualized commission immediately. Then when the new kids are worked to the bone and want to quit, all their clients get passed on to the manager who just keeps stacking clients and collecting more and more money , churning out young kids tricked into thinking they will become rich. Really went off on a tangent there, but the lesson I’m trying to convey is beware of people who seems too nice and things that seem too good.
I did this too when I was fresh out of highschool, it was a pyramid scheme. Transamerica is a pyramid scheme. Same life insurance BS with "rings" that you would get when you sell 100k in policies and only goes up. BS "meetings" where they portray how much money you can make when they never tell you about the negative. Dont fall for anything that you need to PAY to apply, I was charged $100 for the application. Then needed to find 10 family members to "practice on" but I wouldn't get a single dime until my 11th person that I got to sell to. A whole waste of 2 months I ended up working minimum wage at that time due to a guaranteed income.
In college there was a bank or mutual fund who had internships where students were expected to sign up their families and then they'd never be hired and they would have all of these people's information essentially for free.
I was going to comment about this, but thankfully you already did. She did seem like she was a genuine soul. What she said wasn’t wrong either. She has a good presence to her. One she outwardly radiates towards the people around her. Our body’s do say a lot about us. Just read her body, then compare it to Vishen’s after you read his. Our mouth can lie all that it wants, but our body will still tell the truth… for the most part at least lol
Yeah, I took some mind valley online courses back in the day, and the 3 teachers I was drawn to are really good people, and wise. I've never liked Vishen, though. I strongly believe he is a scam. All you have to do is listen to him from his beginnings, and listen to his interviews with some of the actual good teachers on his platform. You can tell he is immature, arrogant, self-centered and totally un-aware and not awake at all. He is an average human at the most. Also, the speech he and his ex-wife gave to everybody in the MindValley team on the day they announced their divorce was really telling. Of course you have to read between the lines and listen carefully to what the wife is saying (statement analysis). He is deff not a good husband nor human. But a great marketer for desperate souls. He never resonated with me and I rejected MindValley because of this, but I did appreciate the courses by the good teachers he provided on his platform, so I cut him some slack. Watching the company grow, I can now say I don't like him at all and reject MindValley even more (except for those 3 courses). And yes, this company also attracts self-centered/self-absorbed people that want to be gurus themselves, and take advantage of the unregulated platform on the fb groups of the courses to pursue their own crowd and following. After the 2020 awakening, I can see this is just more of the Prog Lib BS to make people feel better about themselves by spiritually bypassing reality and using "magic" and "rituals" to fix the world and their lives. We all know how that goes...
@Boom LMAO, as soon as I saw the ads where Vishan promises to teach you how to understand everything in a book by touching it I knew he's a scammer. That's just not possible but it's a nice fantasy for people who want to be super smart but believe they are too important and busy to actually read books.

In theory she is the perfect candidate to "convert" to a "change maker". She's curious yet guarded, aware of energy yet not sold on tools that tell us where it is. Yet the conversion never happens because the underlying tone of the experience she's engaged in is rooted in the sole leaders' inability to be the change and embody the values he espouses and markets. Until we take what we learn beyond the doing (such as attending a festival) and bring it into the being (daily practice), we never become a better version of ourselves and if we're not careful we become something like Vishen, complete with a 1.6m view exposé on Vice.
those types of group “breath work” concern me so much. they’re just meant to make the emotionally venerable relive traumatic events or in the case of rich losers, lament their inability to be made happy by their ill-gotten wealth. it’s making people go through as many extreme emotions as possible to make you susceptible to influence rather than actually heal any internal wounds
So, the A in A-Fest stands for A-hole? The Vice lady did a great job. I was LOLing at her facial expressions at some of the things going on there. The whole friend saga was funny as heck. Also, keep the hat.
Sydney may be the most grounded and realistic person in this entire gathering, love her style. Vishen is the opportunistic purveyor of the "product". For the 0.1% who have the luxury of meandering into such esoteric arenas, it's a lovely concept . . . for the rest of the population, who actually have to work in the real world to make ends meet, well . . . I was once at a somewhat similar high end "wellness" self help extravaganza. My first impression was, it was all about "new age" performance artists, catering to "successful" but desperately empty clientele looking to fill perceived voids in their lives, and getting paid absurdly well for it. I still don't get it . . .
This expose was really interesting, in that there so many “healing” seminars and events offer the promise of enhanced wellness and spiritual enlightenment. This reporter was fantastic to watch. I love her honest approach to self-discovery and thoroughly appreciated the humor that she brought with her. Her thoughts were so insightful and understanding the experience of A-Fest from her perspective, helped create a more realistic understanding of this workshop. I feel so happy that she too, recognized the off-putting nuisances of Vishen’s business attitude toward people, when financial gain was not the primary motivation. This expose shows the truth in that; when wealthy business moguls create multi-million dollar concepts that portray the core principals of “positive change in the world”, even then…it does not necessarily mean that their own belief is a reflection of their financial strategy…. Thanks. Can’t wait for the next!
That interview with the CEO was so tense. 😬 You could tell he had already made up his mind about what that interview would be, and was just on the defensive correcting her the whole time. Ironic for someone who themed the event 'connection'.
This is hilarious, but it's something important we all can learn from. All the talking points at these lectures, they're points cults have used for decades. The body language woman saying "we live in a world with so many distractions these days", that's exactly what Heaven's Gate used to say. All of these seminars work on the idea of supplying you 'forgotten truths' that the world doesn't want you to know. Lots of people use this idea today to fuel their cults of opinion, on and offline. The idea that they have the answers. Hell, I'm kind of doing it right now! It's important to recognize this and not fall for that kind of laziness of thought in the future.
Yeah, you hit that spot on, right as I was watching the part where they were doing the breath work and chant stuff I was reading your quote and that's something I've seen many cults use to open people up for their ideas. The things is, it really does work, but it opens you up to receive and idea and it's important that the idea be a positive one and well though out. Too many times it's just more self centered stuff or stuff to feed or grow your ego even bigger.
All the crying and chanting during the breath work looked just like a evangelical revival meeting (which most of these A-Festers would never attend). The little mosh pit at the very beginning of the conference is part of the combined positivity/obedience training that lots of cults do to size up prospects.
Uh, a lot of the teachings are 100% legit. The issue is that people that run them either end up power tripping OR charging money. Both shouldn't happen.
@@OgdenM well, that's why these groups work, it is true! The issue is having that truth lead you into a tribal mentality, coalescing around the one who taught you. Paying for it is even worse.
it reminds me a lot of all those fundamentalist evangelical christian festivals I used to enjoy as a teenager and young adult. A-fest gives me some mega-church vibes without the church. This is Hillsong in atheist or as "the goddess is me". What he sais in the beginning "People connect deeply when you have a shared experience of insight or a shared experience of awe" sums it all up. It is true. He gives people the opportunity to have this experience in the same way these mega churches do. I remember having the time of my life until I couldn't believe all of the theory any more and started disagreeing. And boy did I feel lonely afterwards.
Wow, the journalist was so professional and open-minded. The GURU (Yeah I said it) is a pompous jerk. Way to expose who he truly is. Loved the walking coach!
As much as this retreat is really just a wellness con (and far from the only one) there’s really no way it could “fail” which is probably what makes it such a good scheme: even if you stripped away all of these activities, these people are all in an exotic oasis where they can drink, let loose, and meet new friends. I’m pretty sure everyone in the world craves that rn- even the super rich and wealthy.

I live in Silicon Valley. I am a computer engineer. I've done the Burning Man circuit 13 times, and this sounds nothing like Burning Man. This is a purely elitest event where people believe that by being by others of means and success, that they too become like them. If they do or not really isn't the point, though. The point is that this is a psychological operation on the participants basically. He says it's lonely at the top? It's only as lonely as you make it there. A lot of people where I live become so involved in their work that they forget the biggest work we all have - to connect to others and help the world. But while that's their choice, they certainly don't need a $3500 party to connect with others. A gentle smile and friendly hello to a hard-working, tired Costco worker will do.
🗣️So you went to burning Man 13 times⁉️ please do tell how are all of you guys who went to the burn as a whole are helping out the world? Ya ill wait...
A place for Millionaires to feel something, and a getaway from there superficial world where people want something from them or know who there are. A Next level burning man.
I want to Goto Burning Man i understand it used to be good but has been destroyed a lot by what you said but it still seems light years ahead of this place lots of great art and drugs
Yet they still have to "pay" for that connection not realizing making it a spiritual event does not make the connection any less transactional or superficial. They should have just paid for therapy lmao.
Sorry guys but you got the wrong picture. First A-Fest donated all its profits to Ukraine this year. The event was dedicated to Ukraine. Also all talks from A-Fest are free on TH-cam and 100s of millions of people watch them for free . It’s been that way since 2010. Vice lied about these cos they survive on scandal .
18:30 - I took a Mindvalley course almost 5 years ago. I got the impression after going through the class that he and his organization was basically a giant cash grab/pseudo cult/playground for the rich. Often times these are led by egotistical, charismatic, narcissistic, two-faced individuals who are not grounded (to use a spiritual term). This scene proves that 100% and I regret the $1k I paid for the course.
I keep getting adverts all the time from this guy in this platform and not once has he given me a ¨Spiritual vibe¨; life itself and experiences have made me more spiritual alone. No gurus, or any life coaches. I feel so unconnected to them, my struggles have been really deep and personal, I can´t believe they have any kind of sympathy for me with those ridiculous prices. Fortunately life itself has opend doors and brought the right people into my life. No dime needed either.
Well, for $1K, you learned some useful information about people that may not have been previously obvious. In that context, you did get an educational experience, though not what the spiritual snake oil practitioners had in mind. Compared to some, who have lost many $1000s to these types of operations, and are still mesmerized by such, you came out fairly well.
Wow, I can't believe the rudeness of this guy. When she sat down with him at the end that just spoke VOLUMES. They always say when someone shows you who they really are....do yourself a favor and believe them. He has a lot of great advice but his demeanor killed it all for me.
"They always say when someone shows you who they really are....do yourself a favor and believe them". That's a weird thing to say. When do you know when the person is showing you who they really are? Or does that only count when they're behaving like a dick? I'm not saying he isn't a dick... just that it's a weird saying.
What Vishen said is totally legit. Any human being being misinterpreted deserves to give a proper explanation to his/her words. She as a reporter has also a very criticizing attitude which I get (and is part of the role she plays). But it doesn’t mean it’s not perceived unwelcoming for him. I totally agree with Vishen’s words, I’m not sure the words are totally aligned with this festival thing. A lot happening there seems problematic and unaligned with the “activism” he wants to bring to the world, but definitely the idea of planting seeds of change is perceived.
I'm a person of Indian origin.Vishen's last name indicates he belongs to Sindhi family - a group of traders:known in india to be money makers, merchants, traders, wealthy people and also known as "crooks" enough said 😊
You’re wrong. Sindhis are not simply “a group of traders”. They are an entire ethnic group of people who are native to the province of Sindh. Your comment seems to perpetuate harmful racial stereotypes. While it is true that Sindhis, like any other ethnic group, have a rich cultural and historical tapestry that includes a tradition of trade, it is oversimplifying and misleading to label the entire group as 'merchants' or 'wealthy'. I have met Sindhis working in all kinds of professional backgrounds (doctors, teachers, farmers) and financial statuses (wealthy, middle-class, poor). Let's aim for understanding and respect when discussing cultures and ethnicities different from our own.
Sydney's hilarious, I love her xD When she complained about her new "friend" ditching her lmao. Then "apart from this traitor" at the end killed me hahaha.

To everyone watching this seeking self improvement: there is no one true secret you're "missing". This is exactly the type of thing they want you to believe so you fork over your money.
Very Interesting. Kept getting BOMBARDED by adverts for mind valley over the last 4 years and the way that mind valley guy speaks always raised the hairs on my back. I felt in my gut that he was a people-using money hungry totally fake opportunist and saw right through his mask. Then suddenly this documentary popped up and confirmed everything I felt and saw. Yes this rich people and spirituality self help world is where the money is at for sure. Like Tulum 😅. But gosh. Amazing how easily influenced empty people are by the fakest of people .. and i wonder how rich this awful man is now… Thank you for making this documentary. And yes integrity beautifully kept because made by a clearly good soul.
I was thinking the same for myself! Especially because I'm sober and don't drink anymore nor am I very social these days. I tend to isolate at home alone (with my bf of 12 year) a lot. I would feel very uncomfortable. They are basically getting everybody drunk and grifting them.
The moment I meet a person and he/she is going to actively want to hug me…I already hate that person. Also he wasn’t greeting her, he was just pitching the entire thing! Also love the underlining spite and irony in your voice. It sums up the entire thing pretty well. Great work!
There’s no doubt the founder and guy in charge of this festival is full of it. While I don’t doubt being in charge of an event like this is stressful, you could easily see the more genuine persona come out towards the end. He seemed more guarded and paranoid probably due to his minders telling him that VICE wouldn’t put a positive spin on the event. These people don’t care about the well-being of others or making “connections” unless it’s going to make them money. Ultimately this is a faux-spiritual convention for the wealthy to network. These trust-fund garbage babies are set. They aren’t giving one iota to those struggling employees beneath them doing the real work that keeps them rich.

I thought she sucked exactly bc of that
Here’s the thing tho, this isn’t actually that weird of a practice.

The act of self improvement falls to ourselves. Our accountability. We can connect with one another by our actions towards self improvement.
His assistant was just doing her job by interrupting. that linda clemmons lady actually seems genuine, and she wasn't even wrong, body language changes the way people perceive you and she seems genuinely sweet and nice, unlike everyone else there
Yeah the body language course seemed the most practical and down to earth.
Well duh it's the most accessible and familiar seeming one. Breath work for example is ancient and practiced in most cultures. Just because it's not practiced in the modern western culture or is practiced by these people doesn't make breath work invalid.
She's definitely one of the few people there I could relax around.
Her advice was hardly groundbreaking. Just more clichés.
there's a lot to learn about body language and its influence on our lives yet all she could come up with is how to walk sexy, garner male attention and be self important. if you think she had anything meaningful to say, sadly you don't know the depth of what you could potentially learn about the subject.
Words of wisdom right there. I’d rather make a pot roast and go eat with the bums living under the bridge than have filet mignon alone, man.
They are just there for the fun of it they're not there because they really want to make a change.
Wise words brother

That's insanely interesting tbh
that's a very interesting way to view it and makes a lot of sense for me. thanks for sharing
Oh dear. You got played.
It looks miserable. Contrived. The “guru” 😂 is a jerk.
can tell that you were abused. sorry about it
A lot of these people really seem more lost than narcissistic.
Dark!? Did I miss something. He corrected her a few times. And repeated himself to the assistant. That’s dark?
Wasn’t PHP Agency was it?!
Same experience with health insurance
In college there was a bank or mutual fund who had internships where students were expected to sign up their families and then they'd never be hired and they would have all of these people's information essentially for free.
I actually really loved Linda Clemmons, she seems like such a sweet soul and one of the few, geniune people there. Her laugh is contagious.
Yet the conversion never happens because the underlying tone of the experience she's engaged in is rooted in the sole leaders' inability to be the change and embody the values he espouses and markets. those types of group “breath work” concern me so much. they’re just meant to make the emotionally venerable relive traumatic events or in the case of rich losers, lament their inability to be made happy by their ill-gotten wealth. it’s making people go through as many extreme emotions as possible to make you susceptible to influence rather than actually heal any internal wounds

I still don't get it . . .
THE 1% DONT EVEN GO TO THIS FESTIVAL, THIS FESITVAL IS FOR PEOPLE WHO GET SCAMMED. THEY MAKE AN EASY MILLION FROM CHUMPS AT THIS FESTIVAL
I just think that the host isn't easily fooled by nonsense. I like her, she's very discerning and doesn't fake around just because the camera is on.
Yes! Thank you.

But gosh. Amazing how easily influenced empty people are by the fakest of people .. and i wonder how rich this awful man is now…
Thank you for making this documentary. And yes integrity beautifully kept because made by a clearly good soul.
You know it’s a scam when someone teaches you how to read a book by touching it 😂😂
I was thinking the exact same thing!🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯
🎭
Don't judge a book by its cover. Read it by touching its cover. Lulz
Exactly! Wtf was that?? Seriously. This video was so infuriating to watch what rich people spend their money on.
right?
This event would be my own personal hell 😂
I was thinking the same for myself! Especially because I'm sober and don't drink anymore nor am I very social these days. I tend to isolate at home alone (with my bf of 12 year) a lot. I would feel very uncomfortable. They are basically getting everybody drunk and grifting them.
I love that “ Corporate and Spriirtual Success”. Talk about elite guilt.
The moment I meet a person and he/she is going to actively want to hug me…I already hate that person. Also he wasn’t greeting her, he was just pitching the entire thing!
Also love the underlining spite and irony in your voice. It sums up the entire thing pretty well. Great work!
Whats wrong with hugs? But I agree, if it's a complete stranger I would feel weird as well.
If a person wants to hug I might, maybe 70% of the time. Unless they give off bad "vibes". Most people truly just want a hug.
The most amazing people there were the workers in the hotel.
Faux-spiritualism
as Creed Bratton said: "'I've been involved in a number of cults both as a leader and a follower. You have more fun as a follower but you make more money as a leader "
His presence is very heavy like a 1 ton weight. He's got a complex and obvious rage. Won't be long before he's offering his followers Kool aid. He hates humanity but its so hard to be a demigod without worshippers.
It's facade! Narcissism at it's finest.
I love Sydney's energy. She's a changemaker in my book
That's amazing, I don't have to ever read any more medical books to treat my patients. This guy is a genius.
The bullshit these guys shovel into people's heads 🙄
😂
I love how she's like "wanna be my friend?" Then "OK awesome! BYE" Then she proceeds to throw shade at that person the entire time while making no effort herself
She must of really liked him
underrated comment
That is the way of the world today
Girl has a full camera crew with her and is there with the intention of making them look stupid. No wonder lolol
Have you heard about this thing called Comedy.
MONEY CAN'T GIVE YOU COMMON SENSE
Lol facts
Hahaha
Agree.
