1. My mind is blown, magnificent job, especially the setup to cut the keyway 2. Giant wooden hammer 3. Now I'm awaiting your wooden lock pick set video

I came up with how to cut the keyway as I was working and now I’m thinking of investing in machining slitting saws! It worked so well just with the cheap rotary tool saws. Sounds violent ;) now I sort of want to make a hammer with wooden nails video.. maybe I can make a small birdhouse with no glue or metal? Just wooden nails? Aha
This is AMAZING....from the woodworking (of course) to the brother and sister kicking in with is what is obvious their talents (which in their own are nothing short of AMAZING) to complete a AWESOME video! Hope there is more of the same music in parts 2&3. Suggestions for breaking in to the lock maybe a bump key or a set of wooden picks?

Thank you! Part 2 and 3 won’t be using music from them but I’m trying to convince them to play for some of my videos in the future so I’m sure they will play again! It was fun using their music! I got the lock pic idea a lot, I guess I’ll have to try it!
@ do so then you see if it can and the you can try another type of lock torture that may result into permanent damage. I think that another way could be that bump key idea I mentioned. Do you know what that intels? It is a strait key that one would force in usually with a hammer, that also could be made of some type of wood, and hit the bump key in shearing the lock pins that will allow you to open the lock again with minimal damage. So, there are at lease two or three videos with those suggestions. Good luck I'm always impressed and in ah in the thing that you create! PLEASE KEEP IT UP!

Yes I’m familiar with bum keys but the mix of higher friction and low mass may make that less doable. The lock is going on display so I’m just going to attack the shackle and make a new one. I care about this lock too much to total it for now aha And thank you! I love the optimistic support! :)
Oh hell no, I didn't just watch you pick a lock too?!?! Elo, please your talent is limitless and to tag onto Mitch said, what galaxy are you really from?
Awesome project it is a bit sad you could replace the springs whit something made out of wood though it is still really impressive. And for opening it why not making a lockpincking set out of wood first then trying to break it ! It could be a fun aditional challenge.
@@leoleoxis4292 that's a very interesting idea, I have no idea they would work out of wood

Thank you! There’s a padlock design which has been going around woodworking magazines for at least 6 years now and probably more that is 100% out of wood. It’s a fun build but for this one I was trying to challenge my self and making it small and realistic to modern standards means I have to keep metal springs. For me it’s not an issue but I’ve had people dislike the metal screws I used in the wooden hand plane which I understand. For me the compromise between functionality and being 100% wood is more important than just being 100% wood so I’m keeping my designs with a limited amount of springs and screws for now! Although I may try to make wooden screws in the future!
Really beautiful craft man ship. Do you mind if I share this on Instagram?

i suppose could make a leaf spring but then youd have to make a different padlock, like the old timey ones,
@@jusb1066 Or Belleville springs stacked together maybe ? Made out of very flexibe wood.
