- A goal in each half from Diogo Jota were enough to send us crashing out of the Carabao Cup on a hugely disappointing night at the Emirates.
Having worked so hard at Anfield last week in the first leg of this semi-final to keep the tie in the balance at 0-0, we were unable to make the most of home advantage, and didn't create enough against well organised Liverpool side.
A bright opening quarter of an hour was just about as good as it got for us on the night.
We started on the front with Gabriel Martinelli heavily involved on the left wing. He won two corners in the opening five minutes with his industry and persistence, but it was another set piece that gave us our first opportunity.
Bukayo Saka was fouled just outside the area in a central position, and captain Alexandre Lacazette curled his free-kick against the bar.
We had made all the early running, only for Liverpool to have the ball in the net after 13 minutes. However the vociferous Emirates crowd were relieved to see the offside flag raised against Joel Matip as he scored from close range following a corner.
Seven minutes later though, they had one that did count. Jota ran at Takehiro Tomiyasu on the counter attack, capitalised on a slip from the Japanese full back, then mishit a shot that squirmed into the net from outside the box.
It was very much against the run of play, but after falling behind, we struggled to regain our fluency. The visitors started to enjoy more of the ball, and we failed to threaten as the first half drew to a close.
The second half began with a fine pass over the top from Sambi Lokonga, into the path of Lacazette, but the striker fired over.
Liverpool also blazed a shot over the bar moments later, from an even better position. Kaide Gordon the guilty party from close range after good work again by Jota to outstrip Ben White.
Liverpool came even closer from a corner, when substitute Ibrahima Konate's header thumped against the post.
The game was beginning to get stretched as we went in search of the all-important goal, and we were living on our nerves at times. Martinelli was in the right place in his own box to block a Takumi Minamino shot.
At the other end of the pitch the livewire Brazilian had a rising effort saved at the near post.
Mikel Arteta sent on Thomas Partey and Eddie Nketiah for the final 15 minutes, but it was Liverpool who struck the killer blow.
Jota was the goalscorer again, narrowly beating the offside trap before lifting the ball over the advancing Aaron Ramsdale.
The mountain we now had to climb proved insurmountable, and there was a further blow late on when Partey was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Diogo Jota's both the goals were outstanding. It shows his class. Jota is doing good service in the absence of Mane and Salah. Arsenal also had it moments but could not score. Arsenal played well and its performance is improving.
It's hard to erase the schedule that Arsenal had set aside for winning, such as the 4th round of the FA Cup and the final of the Carabao Cup.

Although arsenal's current team is definitely more promising than the last few years, this match just shows the difference between arsenal and clubs like Liverpool and city. There is a still a long way to go before we can consistently challenge them

Lacazette is difficult to evaluate.
The contribution in defense and build-up is really wonderful, but is it difficult to get a certain level of evaluation as a striker without deciding a score?
However, I think that the influence outside the pitch is quite large, so I personally want you to extend it and support the team from the side. In a super sub standing position.

Lacazette still a good CF, the problem is Arsenal not have an AMF that good enough to assist for him, even Aubameyang lost himself just since Ozil and Ramsey left. No CMF and AMF here at Arsenal can have enough abilities for create chances for CF like Auba and Laca. Odegaard never can do since he came to Emirates, he play like a boy chasing the ball and not have enough imagination and vision to assist the CF, Saka is good but not a playmaker and most fit for winger, Rowe is still have trouble when facing big teams,... The news said abou Dusan Vlahovic, but I think if there is no playmaker in the field, Dusan still have no chance to get high at Emirates.
Lovely ball for the second goal. That is sublime to reach him through all those players, basically took out the entire defensive line without moving them out of position.
Perfect pass and was clearly onside for everyone to see apart from the linesman. He had a terrible day and was calling offsides like it was going out of fashion. I think he should try a different career path.

It's semifinal and so it's obvious that one team would lose . But I love how the two had contested and fought , match was really very exciting . Both team created good chances and attacking moves . Although I am hardcore Liverpool fan, but I like how Arsenal had played . Good match and worth to watch in late night .

The first goal was so soft a rare blunder by Ramsdale, second goal all to an incredible pass by Trent as always. Arsenal came close and it was a close close match even though it says 0-2. Lets take the positives from it and go forward

Ramsdale needs someone like Ibra to improve his reflexes to stop the ball, cause as I know in Arsenal's training ground no one could do shoot with full. Speed like Ibra did

As a Liverpool fan, kudos for Arsenal FC for uploading this video. Unlike MU FC, no sportsmanship when they lost to us. Arsenal FC is in the right track. In few years you will be a very strong football team. Get rid toxic players and revamp the ridiculous salary for most of your players. They come just for the monies but not for the badge. However Liverpool players who came here is not just for the badge but playing under the charismatic Jurgen Klopp.
