    We did a week on Oasis, prepaid gratuities. Without even planning to we ended up with $0 account at the end. Never felt like we were missing anything, it just happened.😊

      If we're planning with a travel agent, do we prepay gratuities during that time? How do gratuities work in terms of tipping cabin staff and waiters?

    • @fredrosenbaum8630
      @fredrosenbaum8630 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@lavans06 the cruise line wants you to prepay gratuities before you board. It's called starting with a clean wallet (or something like that). Once on board you forget what you spent to get there and just look at what you are spending.on the ship. If you see gratuities coming out every day that is coming from your "travel budget." But by prepaying you also lock in the cost, any increase is not charged to you. In theory the gratuities include wait staff and cabin attendant but many people continue tipping them either out of habit, guilt, or appreciation for what they do, but it is not a requirement.

    • @living411
      @living411 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@familymendes148 if you don't buy any drinks, no need to pay for them. There are drinks that are included/are free that of course you wouldn't need to tip for. If you don't "need"/want alcohol and specialty drinks then you don't have to sweat it.
      If you prepay gratuities, you don't HAVE to tip any more than you already have. You can OPT to tip extra, but technically you would have already paid for it if you prepay it. I'm planning on tipping extra for my own reasons, but at the end of the day additional tips are up to you.

    I pay for shore excursions. Also a few alcoholic drinks. I also attend Captain's Cocktail parties and get the free drinks and appetizers. I have also gone to some of the Art Auction lectures and gotten free wine and art prints. They do have some nice art. The thing to keep in mind is it's not really investment art. You only buy it if you like it and want to hang or display in in your home or your office.

    • @climbeverest
      @climbeverest 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How much bank balance is needed to go on these cruises? 5 million or more or even more than that? What is the typical cruising person’s total wealth? So I will know that I am not stepping beyond my boundaries?

    • @jacquelyns9709
      @jacquelyns9709 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @climbeverest You don't need to have millions in the bank. You do have to save up your money. How much you need depends on where and when you want to go. Also, where you will be cruising from versus where you live.
      A minimum wage job won't cut it unless you have other money, such as an inheritance or retirement payments.
      If you can reduce your daily living expenses and put the savings towards a cruise fund, you can cruise sooner. If you want to go to Alaska, it will take longer to save for it than for a Caribbean cruise.

    This is great info for someone who never cruised period or never cruised Royal. Trying to figure out your budget on a cruise can drive you crazy. I’ll say this. After the cost of the actual cruise, factor in taxes, gratuities, packages you want, excursions on port day, any money you may want to spend in shops, money to get to and from your port and Lastly, emergency money and travel insurance. For everything you do on the ship, multiply it by two! Even if your by yourself, they will charge you for two for a lot of things. This will give you pretty much a lump sum of how much everything will cost. As for packages, I would look at specialty dining and drink package. Some may want to look at WiFi if it’s good on ship. For the drink package, it may seem like a lot upfront, but consider for example a 7 day cruise. 2 drinks per day at $15 each and multiple that by 2 for 7 days is $420. Most people who drink and on vacation are going to have more than two drinks per day so you know that package will pay for itself!

    Booked and leaving in a few weeks. First timer, so I'm watching these to know what to expect. We're part of a large party and I've been told that although the RC app provides a way to communicate with the rest of your party, there's no way to make it notify you that a message has come in. If so, that's a shame. Sure would be useful.

    when you are doing review like this dont mislead first time cruisers , graduities are not mandatory and they can be removed at guest services. and you should say that in your video

    • @dengel3154
      @dengel3154 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, correct. I hail from Australia so we do not get charged gratuities. We sailed RC from Singapore and I had the gratuities removed. I prefer to tip direct.

    If RC can just get nearly everyone onboard, let's say 6000 passengers, to spend an extra $250, they will make an extra 1.5 MILLION BUCKS on said cruise. Not bad. After all, how easy is it to spend nearly that much on a picture package alone!?

    I have lost track of how many cruises I have been on with Royal Caribbean. I am also a member of their Crown & Anchor Club. I also own stock shares in Royal Caribbean. I do have an issue with the gratuities. I would take less of a stock dividend. The burden to provide a decent salary should be with Royal Caribbean, not passengers! I have worked for over 40 years, and never received a gratuity. I currently live in Central and South America. Many times gratuities are automatically added to restaurant bills. Over the years, I have seen worse service, because gratuities were automatically included!

    On Royal Caribbean freedom of the Sea do you know if everything stays open, such as the waterslide, Rockwall, etc. during port days, such as the day at CocoCay? I wouldn’t be concerned about shop staying open or casinos, but more interested in knowing if stuff for kids and teens would be open. Would appreciate any info you can provide.

    My first time going on a cruise with my boys was recently going with family. Everybody in my family dropped out but me and my kids were still going but money is kind of tight if I would’ve known my family was not going to attend I would have picked a different day different time to go with my kids like the summer I don’t wanna lose my money because I had already paid and it’s too late canceled the cruise is two days away.
