- How did this sleeping suspect pull this off? 💥
Season 2 Episode 7 "Mr. Monk and the Sleeping Suspect": A series of mail bombs target three wealthy siblings, but Monk thinks one of the brothers is actually responsible. The problem is, he's been in a coma for the last four months.

Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

This is probably one of my favorite episodes because of the premise of a comatose suspect and the humor in it like when Monk is doing the “Here’s what happened” and the mailman keeps interjecting.😂❤
Yes...so well written
😂,,😂😂
The coma victim played an unhinged mailman in Greg the Bunny.
😅
The mailman, you're right, a once off "this is what happened." You explain things so we'll. 💎
Randy: “I’ve been waiting on this my whole life”
Capn’: “well, how was it” 😂
😂😂😂😂
Cold😂
The lamest/shortest chase ever
😅
When the murderer is exposed, you can see Maria, the housekeeper, glaring at him, because he needed someone to open “his” mail, almost making her dead.
You can also see how he reacted when the Maid was there to greet him, he fidgeted around in an obvious manner that he hadn't expected her to be there... AKA he thought she would be dead.
So when she brought out the package unopened coupled with her being alive, he concluded instantly that she had not opened the bomb and instead brought it to him. Meaning he was a dead man...
And she was definitely pissed that it confirmed he had sent a bomb that would have killed her, to make himself look innocent.
Poor girl, to have what she thought was a nice man/boss set her up to die to make it look like he had been one of the victims...
3:38 "Monk he's a vegatable. He's not even a vegatable he hopes one day to be a vegatable." I laughed at this for 5 minutes straight XD
Me too, I was coming to the comments to write pretty much the same thing 🤣🤣
1. This was probably one, if not THE, best legitimatey mystery of the show. Right up there with "Mr. Monk Takes a Vacation"
2. Who else wishes Tamil/The mailman had been a reocurring character?
He was hillarious!
Yes, like Miss Bronwyn in the episode you mentionned. She was a good partner for him
That mailman was a great character. :D
Yes....lol
He just wears a different shade of blue...
Well put, Tamil.
This is one of the best actual mysteries in the run of Monk.
The end solve/ reveal is perhaps one of the most unexpected of the series . The idea of the plot with the "stress test" is clever.
The car chase leading into a coma is also a nice twist.
This episode is very Columbo like.
Not Columbo Like, is Porbably based on Short Fuse, from Season 1
@Fiduciariesonio Short Fuse is a Columbo episode.
Thus it would be Columbo like.
@@writeralbertlanier3434just one more thing... what is Porbably
One of the best uses ever of "You don't see that every day."
Right up there with the one in Ghostbusters.
When you see the ATF guys, you realize why Stottlemeyer was happy to see Monk: What local law enforcement can't resist trying to make the feds look stupid?
A normal person can't even resist
I like how, at 5:35, if you don't know anything about Monk you would think, "Oh, he's being careful not to put any fingerprints on the doorknob."
But if you know Monk, this action has a completely different significance.
I'm new to monk. Why?
@@andrewstanley8945 Because Monk is a germaphobe. (Among his many irrational fears.)
@@TH-camallowedmynametobestolen Pantophobe would be more applicable
Tamil is by far my favorite non-reoccurring Monk character.
This episode is really good but lol 😂 those explosions are really something else.
I thought I was the only one who noticed!
@@orientalorthodoxnot enough budget😂
Don’t forget, Brian Babbage hired a “terrible lawyer” prior to him being comatose. Something tells me that he’s going away for a *LONG* time!
He could switch lawyers but even a good lawyer would have trouble since he confessed in public
Monk is so funny 😆
He wanted to go postal on that mailman 😂😂
Aww, poor mailman at the end. "Not you." LOL
He just wanted to be part of the fun. 😔
Captain: Don’t move!
Suspect: Slowly started to run after 2 seconds
Did you really think he would actually stay there while you chase down another bad guy? Lol
Does the guy really think they're not going to find him again and remember this?
Might as well say it.
0:07
The look on both Stottlemeyer’s and Disher’s faces are pure classic.
They weren't even mad at the guy, they were just confused
@@bigbearkat2010
I know.
It was like, “what on Earth kind of drugs is this guy on?”
I am 81 and I have watched all 8 series 3 times. The comedy is fantastic. Each having their funny personalities. Your film made me laugh so much. Than you. But this is the thing, why did Sharona leave. She is a wonderful actress. God bless you for making me smile again
I'm currently watching the whole series
I missed some episodes when I was young, I'm 34 today
It gives me nostalgia and also so much joy when I fall on an episode I hadn't watch before
Sharona left because of pay rise issues with the production but Natalie was surprisingly good
LOl the scene "Well don't use that bathroom, it's a mess" Sharona "You don't have to yell" Monk "WHY ARE YOU WHISPERING?" !!!" And also the scene, ketchup bottles on the ceiling, "There's something you don't see everyday" And also, "Which wire" Anyone, it doesn't matter "Adrian hurry up, I don't how long I can stand like this" "I'll cut the red wire"
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Howdy Doody was a puppet!
9:30
Sharona’s look is priceless
Natalie is also a very fantastic actress and she is so caring❤❤
I don't remember that incredible exploding toilet scene lol
Cinematic perfection.
My cat asked just one question as it made it's way to the sofa... "How long would a person need to hold a package with glue on top to the inside of a metal mailbox before it would stick?"
Which makes me wonder about my cat's past lives...
Depends on the kind of glue. Some glues are formulated to stick almost immediately.
You should wonder more if your cat is planning on murder.
That's not a cat. That is Salem.
This episode has everything - Stottlemeyer & the come-uppance of the ATC agent, Sharona's husband's back-story, up-staging Monk's birthday gift of a rock polishing kit (!!), the drama in the ICU, not least, the cameo performance by the USPS (South-Asian immigrant) proclaiming the Postal Service rules (with more pride than a native-born citizen, and finally the ingenious gluing solution to the crime.
rewatched this classic recently. I'm now on S4, im trying to rewatch before movie. Fave episode is still Mr. Monk takes his meds
which is that
@@zachstarattack7320 which is what?
3, Episode 9.
Well, that's one crazy case !
Maybe if he had cleaned up the bottles in his house, he would have gotten away with it
Yeah, one of the main points of all the villains in Monk, no matter how smart they are, the can’t think of everything and overlook the stupidest details.
Or used a different knot for the mail bombs than the one he used for his shoes?
Anyone noticed the fact that same cop walked twice behind Randy at 1:42 and again at 1:45
Maybe he was doing his rounds
Good catch!
Great catch

8:37 Brian would've had the best alibi.
LOL that pickup truck backed into the car at full speed
0:21 Don't move! (I hope he got away - for good!).
0:20 Don’t Move! 👀🏃♂️
Woah, great case. The postman was funny.
Such a good video
It just hit me why the maid looked at hime like that. He tried to kill her too.
I don't think he tried to kill her but she would be more a colateral damage
The mail man lol
The cat died in the explosion 😢
He could just say that he heard/read that his family was getting killed by mail bombs is why he reacted to the package and they would be back to having no proof that it was him
Could have done that, but there was an eyewitness
Who bothers trying to mailbomb a comatose man?
@adamloga3788 if you are confused, his plan was not getting in a coma but rather get arrested and to be sure he gets jail time he would have a terrible criminal lawyer.
@impossibleboy162 oh no, I remember the episode, I was giving a rebuttal for why the top comment would be considered a poor defense.
In my opinion, at least.
Monk: what is all this weird stuff
Top Tier Monk Episode FOR SURE!
My favorite episode
It was amazing 😅❤❤❤❤
Here’s what happened the man wanted to get arrested but was in a coma instead.
Reason being because he wanted to kill his siblings with bombs that he precisely delivered so he would have an alabó.
There was only one problem with his plan and that was monk.
Why in the world would you tell us exactly the same as what the video tells us?
Just curious.
@@TH-camallowedmynametobestolen mainly cause I love to say “Here’s what happened”
*alibi
Classic episode
0:52 What was this about? Why did they show us this?
For us knowing it was a bomb
Right?!?
Why would he leave the proof of his ketchup experiment behind, when he left to go get arrested? That makes literally no sense.
You didn't see the whole episode
Answer it.@@shawnmichaelduncan5951
Well, he sended a package to his own home so he probably thought everything would be destroyed because of the explosion
A chemical detonator wired to the wrapping and a motion detector - "not hard to make"? Yes it is. That would be very hard to make.
tho he could have techically gotten the nurse to tell him how she died therefore thinking the mail was a another bomb. and then pay for a great lawyer since he had money and possibly make things intrseting
You coulda brought poor Tamil along as another witness :(
6:06 GANG WAY MAN WITH A BOMB IN HIS HANDS!
anybody myth bust this to see whether or not this plan would work, plus doesn't make to much sense that even after 2 months that many ketchup bottles would still be stick to the ceiling.
When I first what it, i tought only about the poor cat but thankfully was safe
Ummm, him jumping out of bed isn’t proof.
Those CGI effects on the box and the explosion are just... not very good.
It was released in 2003
These things give us nostalgia
Indian guy cracked me up
I'm glad they gave him a real Indian name !
Parker before he becomes a lawyer
As an RT, how does that patient not have a trach, a Hollister, or an ETT?? The doctor is the real murderer.
That was just silly, why didn’t he just go abroad for seven months

what happened to mark Zuckerberg?
He looks like Mark Zuckerberg in the thumbnail
Why wreck a nice old Mercedes?
Because if his murder plan was successful, he would've inherited enough money to buy a brand new Mercedes
hi
The way they cought the guy with the fact that he knew it was a bomb is copied from Columbo "Short fuse".
*caught
1:15 Is it bad, that i felt bad for the cat, but didnt think twice about the person as i knew it was a tv show?
No, that's normal but don't worry, I rewatched the episode recently and the cat survived
Who'd a funk it
😂😂😂
"stress test"?... what a lame writing...
😮
Dear gosh those explosion effects are so cheaply made xD
I despise Randy Nueman

The one on the begining ? Why ?
Me, I felt sorry of her because just before the explosion she said she'll probably be dead before seeing a dime

Imagine waking up from a coma just to go to prison 🤣
😅
I imagine it happens to a ton of drunk drivers.
His plan was actually to be in prison as an alibi ironically
Funny how they can’t show the finger on tv 😅
Captain- 'Him?! Monk, he's a vegetable. He's not even a vegetable. He hopes one day to be a vegetable.'
Out of coma; into jail...
😂 this is good.
And then the murderer hired a lawyer who successfully made the case that he woke up from a coma and was experiencing delusions. The case being otherwise circumstantial fell completely apart.
nice
Lol blew himself literally 🤣 😂
The way they took the seat belts off😭😭😭
why did he try to kill the maid?
I don't think he tried to kill her but did it for don't being suspected
The maid was just going to be collateral damage. He sent a bomb to himself when he knew he wasn't going to be home to avoid suspicion making it look like he was one of the targeted victims. He knew the maid would likely be killed as a result but he didn't care if the maid lived or died.
Monk episodes appear far-fetched and labored on conjectures, rather than real life cases. In another episode, a lip reader breaks a stock broker's right hand and kills an interior designer. As if another interior designer wouldn't suggest a curtain for a big window.
Ahh Sharona… loved her, not her replacement.
