- Luke (Lucas Black) is a young golfer who's about to take a swing at the big time until he has a meltdown that makes national news and scuttles his once-promising career. While driving through Texas, Luke crashes through the fence of rancher Johnny Crawford (Robert Duvall). Johnny makes him an irresistible offer: spend a week with him in the tiny town of Utopia and see if Luke can change his life.

It's so nice to see a golf movie with an actor who actually has a good swing. AND a fellow Alabama native.
The day after I read "Seven days in Utopia" I shot my best round. The movie is wonderful. The book is even better. Casting Lucas Black for this role was brilliant. I love golf. I have played this silly game all my life because I enjoy it so much. I'm 57 and it never gets old.
"Never gets old," just more unpredictable and frustrating for the average golfer.

I so agree. It took "Lonesome Dove" for me to gain the admiration I now have for both Mr. DuVall and Mr. Jones acting brilliance but since that mini series I've become an avid viewer of all their work in film. These men have NEVER been given the admiration by Hollywood they so justly deserve IMHO. They're so good at their craft they cannot be typecast. It matters not the role they choose to bring to a story, they MAKE US BELIEVE the character they portray is real. So real we feel we know them and that is not acting, it is making themselves BE THAT PERSON for the time they're involved with that project. Few before and even fewer today possess the mental agility Mr. DuVall and Jones do. It saddens us that time will soon take their physical beings from us (as it does for us too and I'm now 75) but their legacy will be there on the screen for generations to see. Thank you Hollywood for introducing us to them.

I know nothing about golf. I didn't even know the movie had anything to do with golf. I saw Robert Duval's name and I liked the title. I felt this movie was giving a higher message but using the game of golf as the game of life. So many profound statements made. Robert Duvall exuded one with wisdom from his human mistakes in life, yet had such strong faith.
Robert Duvall has been my " go2 " actor. This man's gift, given to us on film is hands down, pure emotions that I'm sure we have touched and lived in some part of our lives. Truly a gifted actor that never fails to touch us , Thank you Mr. Duval 👍

@2:48 as Mr. DuVall talks to us about how the game of golf can do things to us is so true, it can bury itself so deeply in our brains there is no way we can escape it's clutches. It can take us to hights of utopia so quickly and just as quickly can send us into the depths of despair all in the matter of 3 or 4 minutes,, yet we return to the course and allow it to do it to us again, and again,, and again. Isn't that almost like admitting we have a LOVE / HATE relationship with the game? Yeah, I think so. I'm no longer able physically able to play but in my mind I remember how it once was,, my relationship with the game. I was at my peak only an 18 handicap player but I loved playing nonetheless. This movie is about alot more than the game BUT having played the game can help us understand the message.

I almost went on when I found out it was about golf!!! Looking for adventure!!! But my old man was a golfer.. Not ery God even among his friends.. But he loved it and the comradeship... Played till he couldn't play anymore... I've always wondered if he thought one day.. This is my last day!!!. He died 4 months later.. 92 years.. He also played bridge.. A life master... Sorry.. Rambling..

Years ago Hollywood came to our little town of Fredericksburg Texas to film parts of this movie. They used our Golf Course and random scenes around town.
Traffic was always backed up and it was a headache for locals but we dealt with it.
We were always having Hollywood type visit to shop, eat and walk main street on a regular basis so it was no big deal. I'd been in movies for years so it wasn't anything special for me my family and friends. Willie Nelson, Sandra Bullock her ex husband jessie James, Patrick Dempsey, George Strait, Spurs Players, Tommy Lee Jones, Nicholas Sparks, Robert James Waller the writer of Bridges of Madison County lived there and to many others celebrities to mention here. They loved to stay and enjoy our little town and they knew no one from town would bother them. We're big on privacy in Texas and only an hour from Austim well Austin but same thing.
I never saw the movie until now. It's pretty good but it reminds me of the movie Cars. Same story line drama as Cars. Young talent full of himself has struggles then find an old mentor to point out what really matter plus finds love in the little forgotten town. It's a great Spiritual Movie. I would have like to of seen if there was a future for the couple.
I'd definitely watch again soon.

I was bummed that Deborah Ann Woll wasn't cast as Galadriel in _Rings of Power_ as she brought a lot of intensity playing Karen Page in _Daredevil_ . After having watched the trailer, I was happy that she didn't take part in that debacle.

Insgree. It was asinine to not show the putt. I will forever hate this movie. It wasted time I can never get back. It was beyond asinine to not end the movie and to waste our time.

In Revelation 3:20 Jesus states : " Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him and he with me. "
The gospel ( good news ) message is this : recognize that we ( all of us ) are sinners separated from the relationship God intended to have with us. We cannot do enough good works to restore what was lost. Jesus paid the price for our redemption on the cross. By faith we accept his death, burial and resurrection as the means to becoming a child of God. Through prayer , reading the Bible and fellowship with other believers, we become more Christ-like through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit until the day we are transformed to his likeness in perfection. And when we sin, we can go to God and receive forgiveness. That's not a free pass to continue to live a sinful lifestyle. A true believer will not want that, but still being imperfect, will occasionally slip up. So pray, read the Word and find a Bible believing church for fellowship and growth. @@tomault3063 Don't look for a church for the answers to your questions. And the one you describe sounds questionable. I would suggest seeking out a Bible teaching church. Easier said than done, as they all make that claim. But this is the good news : Jesus died for the sins of anyone who is repentant ( willing to turn from a lifestyle of self-indulgent sin ), and through faith, accept Him as their Savior. When one does that, the Holy Spirit will come into a believer's soul and empower them to live a godly life here and now. And when we slip up on occasion, He will forgive us. Thats not a license to sin. A repentant person will have a changed heart and not want to continue to sin. Any church not teaching that fundamental Christian tenet is to be avoided. As far as Covid goes, it is real. As far as the election being stolen, I can't say. There's a lot of questionable things that did occur, but I'm not going there now, nor do I plan to in any future replies. All I can tell you is what God has told us through His Word : that if we seek Him with all of our hearts, He will reveal Himself to us. I will pray for you and your journey.
