While I certainly evaluate every dog, lately we haven't been doing protection work as often as I would like...but hopefully we can up that soon...and get back at it. But to simply turn a dog on and off along with adding some basic control can be done in 10 sessions or so...but to optimize a dog's full potential requires much more than that. We are mostly looking for raw genetics in breeding, but for a finished dog you have to optimize those genetics to their full potential.
I am not wearing a bite suit. That is what is referred to as "scratch pants." Scratch pants are not designed to take a bite at all. They are just heavy duty coveralls basically that protect one's clothing when working as a decoy or agitator for dogs that are handled by other people while wearing a sleeve...which I was doing earlier. I just did not take them off when making this video.
Which breeds of dog make up your bandogs other than your apbt because I’ve noticed you breed for a longer muzzle and does a longer muzzle make for a stronger, grippier bite than a shorter muzzle in your experience.
I used APBT, Eng Mastiff, Neapolitan, and Tosa-Inu. Short muzzles are not desirable, but neither are “long” muzzles. Everything should be balanced by performance assessment and selection in that regard.
Scratch is a maniac so intense ❤
This animal is all business 🔥🔥
Love to see the deep focus and pritty calm while working in that dog ,,
Beautiful dog.
Hello Lee, do you have any videos of Scratch off lead showing his speed and athleticism? It would be interesting to see how fast he is?
I don't have it on video...but maybe we can make that happen. lol
How often do you train the dogs for protection? And how do you know if a dog will be good for protection work?
