I hope that the sabotage involves something that gives Athena rep. If it means stealing the orb then you should be able to turn the orb into Athena for the rep instead of following the reaper route.

Orb of Ancient Secrets, wasn't this revealed first in the Cursed Sails trailer 2018? When the Sailor gave madam olivia a red orb, where she saw through it the Forsaken Shores.

The only thing I don't like about these island conversions is that they will ruin some of the most beautiful islands in the game.

Yeah, I do think the reveal trailer was warranted. 2023 was pretty rough, and I think Rare needed something big and showy to get people on-side. It's fun to speculate, but I think the long-term benefit of not only bringing in the PS5 pirates but also giving them something concrete to look forward to in the immediate future without keeping them guessing too much is probably the prudent move.

I'm not so certain that the appearance in the tavern is a hint about where Umbra will move. It may just he a hint that Port Merick is a regular haunt because it's the closest tavern. She could hide in Mermaid's Hideaway where we found Duke hiding during one of the changes leading up to The Heart of Fire. There's also huts on a few nearby islands that she could take over and rebuild. We also need a reason to explore the Roar again. I could see the devs moving her out there. She could set up shop in a cave on an island.

the thing I dislike about this, is that a lot of these small islands are like being removed in a way. I don't see how you could do any quest for any guild on them with these flameheart things on them. makes me sad but eh more to do at least
When I was looking for cursed chests on the Athena quest, I dug up one on the island that had a skeleton fortress. Therefore, it is possible that these islands can still be used for faction quests.
Honestly we could still get faction quest here , similar to how maps can lead to inactive fortresses
I want an artic part of the map SO BAD. Snow islands, avalanches (like volcano erupting), Ice that you can break apart with your "pickaxe"(shovel replacement or new weapon) while youre sailing in that part of the map.
Ice pick can also be used to find treasure on the snow islands. cant dig through ICE with a shovel can you?

I've wanted an ice region since I started playing two years ago.
I want ice bergs that drift around the region to provide dynamic obstacles during pvp fights.
The icy water will damage you over time just like water around active volcanoes, so pvp becomes even more risky in terms of being knocked off your ship, and boarding other players.
I think a swamp region would go hard
The servers are already too big, they can't handle another region

I remember watching Reapers Hideout being built with my first group of friends, I brought up that the island was looking a bit different in the first stages, and they all clued in and we started to watch the island grow over time. It was spectacular in a way.
I was hoping we go to the ancient temple but no lack of interest of adventures had led to adventures to be cancelled.
I SAW it last night! The maps, the maps are everywhere!

The other gets us a bauble and a "somehow palpatine returned" type copout.
An idea that I think would be really cool and amazing is one where in SOT if you have enough gold you could buy a personal island where us pirates could store all our caption ships so we could show them off to friend or just see all your ships together in a fleet also we could customize the island itself and a home on the island where we could show off different weapons,tools,pets,maybe outfits,ship decor and trinkets, etc. We could use gold to buy different building materials that like the buildings that around could be made of so we could change what it looks likes maybe more or less buildings or where we could have huts or you know really anything you see in the SOT you could use/have in your island if you had enough gold to buy it all and i also think all of this stuff should cost a lot and be almost like end game rewards but i think getting the island itself should be not as much or maybe you get like a small starter island with a starter hut and you can buy and upgrade from there or pick a smaller island if you so wanted. I am just thinking and typing at the same time so i don't know if i really made sense or if this seems like a good idea or not but if you do this whole thing and get this far could you tell me your thoughts and what you would like too see or not see if something like this was put into the game. I'll probably post this comment in a few other places (using copy and paste) so more people can see it and talk about it and if people like the idea enough maybe Rare will hear about it. But yea if you have any ideas for what I thought or any feedback let me know. Personally I would love something like this. plus i have so many pets i would love to see them all running around together lol.

ok I dont think people realize how difficult this will be. 1 you have to fight for the largest and most obvious ship, you have to go to 6 islands. its like reaper 6, everyone is going to hunt you.

I think it's a shame that the preview event was necessary. The community was losing faith in Rare's statements that 'more significant content is coming!' And they really needed to start showing instead of just telling us all the time in order to build up faith in them again. Still, it's sad not to have anything to speculate about. No mysteries. No exploration to figure it out. Just... waiting for it to happen.
It's especially a shame, since all these hints with the reaper birds, dig sites, tarot cards, and maps are really well done! If we didn't know already, the community would be losing their minds trying to figure this out!
I miss those times where devs would just release things without telling us anything about it, curiosity and speculation can be one of the best marketing strategies, it thought they were going back this way when they mentioned mysteries, at least in my opinion what they call mysteries should be called puzzles instead, mysteries in fact are something more like: leave a set of clues, all at once, that doesn't need to be unlocked by one another, hidden (not in plain sight) behind not so common, known, or obvious game mechanics, simply don't say a single word about it, now, if you should give a cinematic or in game "thing" (like a location with elements that tell straight up what everything was about) or leave the conclusion open for speculation, is up to you, but be a good dev, and just pretend it isn't there, even when people find it out

I'd love to see how this all plays out, but I definitely need Rare/Microsoft to crank out a fix for ping spike problems. Hopefully that comes soon because I've been really loving playing the game again but the ping spikes are genuinely so much worse than I've ever had before and it makes it really unplayable when I can't walk in a straight line for more than 3 seconds without getting warped and rubber banded around my ship/into the ocean.

the ship in the orb looks nothing like the new burning blade....like at all. The sails are wrong. The ship in the orb is just a normal galleon. The new burning blade looks NOTHING like a normal galleon.

I'm only worried about two things:
1. Why the hell isn't anything happening in The Devils Roar? Well, supposedly this is like the place where Ashen Dragon followed, the place where Flameheart was buried, he has a whole base or tomb there. This location literally personifies Flameheart.
2. Why the hell did Tasha still have the Burning Blade? Seriously, the Sword of Souls was presented as a relic of great power that the Pirate Lord initially hid even from Athena, and then LeChuck stole it and tempered it with the power of Flameheart. As part of Tall Tale (Monkey Island), the blade was shown as an artifact that can harm even the Pirate Lord. So why does Tasha still have it? Her orb has already been stolen, and with this blade Flameheart will become a real threat not only to Sea of Thieves, but also to the world beyond the veil.
