- The countdown to the launch of Ocean Warrior is on!
Thanks to the generosity of the Dutch Postcode Lottery, the People’s Postcode Lottery in the United Kingdom and the Svenska Postkod Stiftelsen in Sweden, Sea Shepherd will shortly unveil its new Patrol Vessel, Ocean Warrior.
Construction on the custom-designed ship is almost complete. Watch this video to see the ship in the final stages of build.

it´s a lot of power but the 170 m3 of space for fuel is not much..., but yes this vessel can go to the SO, the most important question is : Sea shepherd want go after the Whalers ? that i do not know...
Mario Carneiro oh you're right, thats not too good at all. Sounds like they're going to need a refueling vessel, I mean the Japanese use one so why not.
I think the problem with a refueling ship is the risk of spilling fuel into the oceans. The japanese whalers always had problems in the past of spilling and in more than one occasion.
tell that to Sea Shepherd !, the problem is that the Sea Shepherd think that have qualified people to take technical decisions on the vessels, but clearly do not Have.This vessel should have diesel- Electric propulsion, but has conventional propulsion that produces more pollution and is less reliable!
From what I've understood they will campaign from Australia. The legal act only applies to Sea Shepard USA but they also have a Sea Shepard Australian department. That way it should remain legal. The question is how long before they get legal acts against them

Whale wars was discontinued because the main fight for whales ended when the court finally ruled japans whaling was illegal. Now its only separate smaller fishing entities that hunt whales. No where near the size of the Japanese whaling fleet over, so the fact that the show is over is a good thing

Wasn't it supposed to be built in Vietnam at some point, why did it move to Turkey?
Heard it had something to do with Japan having influence over Vietnam but can't be fully sure.

+ShamWerks Well they had 82 million euros donated to them before this. I don't know if they used it all but I think it was more expensive then 10 million.
+ShamWerks Oh sorry! Wrong currency, they had 8.3 million euros donated to them by some postcode lottery, if you search "It's official. Sea shepherd signs contract for new vessel" you'll find a video confirming this.

almost done soon it will be loaded into the slipway and Pam will smash the bottle on the bow signifying Ocean Warrior #2 is ready for patrol and we are going to need it ICR is back and they are violating the ICJ Ban on whaling and we will need Ocean Warrior to keep up with those Harpoon Boats so we can stop them.
now just put 130mm naval guns on it and show some authority, only then you will be able to protect the sea from whaling.

just pathetic, so long to build a catalog 5009!, do not even have hybrid propulsion! I always thought all this time was for the necessary changes in the hull to put Azipod's, another giant mistake of "experts" from Sea Shepherd.
No diesel - electric system..., this is what happens when you put weekend sailors to make technical choices in ships!
