Dude, I love the little 1/18th HBX truck. I hate the remote that you got. I think the brushed comes with that and the brushless comes with the better remote. Not much better but better. I've accidentally ran it off the 2nd floor porch at least 5 times. When the remote batteries die it takes off full blast. It's ran down remote batteries at least 4 times now. The brushless version has clicking diffs but that has done it for about 6 months now. I refuse to take all the screws out unless it completely fails. I did have a servo start buzzing but it never stopped working. They warrantied it so I did replace it. You should like it more after you flip it to 100%
I have the brushless one that you brought up at 17:14. It will do 23 on 2s. Bought it from my niece. She never played with it so I did. Ended up putting a hobbywing quicrun 30a ESC paired with a 2435 motor at 4500kv. Will do 33 on 2s and a little over 50 on 3s. 2s is plenty for such a small car. Modding that little thing is what got me hooked in the hobby. It's fun pushing the limits and seeing how far you can go.
@@rcguygarage too much for what it is probably 😂. Paid $110 for the car and another $60 for the esc/motor. Also bought a flysky gt3b transmitter/reciever for $40. Way more cost efficient starting with the brushed version like you have. Works great as long as you don't turn the punch settings up too high. It will strip the spur.
The thing that kills me is it would literally cost a few more bucks to go ahead and put in a decent motor ESC and it would sale 10 times better 🤷🤦 lol Sad cause it looks pretty cool. Thanks for the heads up Guy 🔥👍🏻✌️
ESC looks identical to 16889a pro's, they added a heatsink in for motor, youll be able to run it 3s for a little bit before it overheats the ESC. Generally I get 10-15 hard minutes before problems with 1/10th scale tires lol. However, people always say its a 50/50 on if it will work on 3s. The 2s batteries that HBX or whoever actually manufactures these cars, are garbage, i throw a aftermarket 2000 mah battery into the 16889a and get far better performance, more go, more speed yada yada. Nice vid.

I definitely have to say a huge "NO!" to that one for the price of $79.99 advertised on Amazon, Guy. Do an esc/motor swap. That might wake it up. hbx is awesome there platforms are what all these other companies are using for there cars they have a brushless version of this thats brushless and all metal where it's necessary they are king of the minies.ive had lots of hbx's and they take a pounding.this car is the old rampage this is there bottom of the barrel car
The only truck hbx makes that is good is the 16889 pro. The rest of their trucks are junk. Got one to mess around with in front of my house when l get home from work. I beat the crap out of it and it's has lots of power. Had a couple other of their trucks and they were junk. Gave them to my friends kids.
I put a hobbystar ESC on it and put duratrax 2. 2 lock ups. I don't use those 2 in one esc and recievers they are absolute junk. Run it on 3s it's a little beast. The 16889 pro is the only truck they have that impresses me on the level I am on.

You don’t really ever seem to reply. So I’m probably writing this for nothing. I agree about the age thing . But for $39 and change it’s a fun little ripper. I’m 52 and I’m having fun with it! Wish they’d all stop lying about their claimed top speeds. The only reason I can see they have this marked 14yrs and up is because the operator has to be responsible and aware about these sometime volatile and sometimes unpredictable lipos. Rc with the more predictable li-ions probably will be ok and safer for a younger kid that’s 8yrs old to tend to by themselves.

It’s a possibility that may be why some of these entry level hobby grade rc’s are being marked with those ages on their boxes. Kinda like atvs and dirtbikes that are 50cc and saying only 16+ older can ride it. We both know that’s not true. But due to the danger of handling a flammable substance they have to put that sticker on the atv. I don’t think many people adhere to what the age says anyway. @@BangForYourBuckRc it's the overall car, box and label. If she was considered that's on the box battery or not it's a bad sell. High return rate or tossed under the bed and forgotten. Yes lipo battery safety but age to operation needs to be considered by the manufacturer.

The 16889 brushless motor from HBX is a solid basher.
