Hi, I am the person you bought the radio from. I am glad to see that it is going to be well taken care of and used. I am a Icom guy and enjoy Icom products and I have the Ic-9700, Ic-705 and a IC-7610. My only regret selling the radio is not having used the radio. Thanks for your activities and keeping HAM radio alive and active. Keep the exterminating going strong. KF4EOK
The Icom 1271 was released in 1985. It was the first transceiver to have an ATV function, and was equipped with a large-capacity CPU and an external RAM unit. She’s a beauty,so mint!! A huge congratulations on the purchase!! 73 de N1XV
I have 4 23cm repeaters in my immediate area, so something like this would be a blast to experiment with. Also, sellers who save all the original packaging materials are always the best people to buy from. It’s a sign they take care of their equipment.
Beautiful find ..no not an idiot...you did super bye ...i have stuff wife calls junk ..but its my junk ..and im always frigging with stuff if i throw it away a week later i have to go bye one ...great purchase
I had both the IC271 & 471 in the 80's - excellent radios. Finding them in this condition - I would buy them and show them off. A great find! Most of these current (2nd hand) have issues with bad caps, etc. But great radios
That is one fine looking rig. I hope you get great use out of it. This will be fun to watch if you can make it work for sat contacts. Take care Eric and 73, Vic de KE8JWE
That's really cool Eric I'd love to see some contacts you make with it. But hey don't worry about what other people say or think, they are idiots who are likely jealous that you got something like that.
Sweet! I'm in Central Florida, sure would be nice to get some 23cm activity going. I have an IC-9700 & IC9100, all I need is an antenna. Oh, I bet it still has that new smell too.😄
I love those old radios. When I first got my ham license, my goal was to have a VHF and UHF mono band radio per band going all at the same time. 50mc-Icom 575A or 575H. 144mc- Icom 275A or 275H. 220mc (yes 220mc) Icom 375A. 432MC- Icom 475A or 475H. 1296mc-Icom 1271A. That way I wouldn't miss any contacts during a VHF contest or a band opening. Never got my hands on an IC-1271A. Want you money back? WB4JGG
Great find and great video highlighting 23cm. I also promote it on my channel and I also picked up a vintage Icom Mobile the IC-1201. Good luck with the transceiver. 73
I had the same logic when I picked up the Icom 7300 / 9700 'twins'. And the 1200 MHz was a great feature on the 9700 as I like having as many bands to utilize as possible.
It is a great acquisition. If you like DX, you can start listening to EME stations on 23 cm, with a VLNA (preamplifier) and a long boom yagi. You may develop and improve the reception with a 10 ft parabolic dish.
Why would anyone think you're stupid for buying something if you want it? Besides, as the saying goes: "If we don't use the bands, we could lose them."
bro to hell what people say! you will use the radio and not only that the money went to a good cause! if i was there i tell you what i would of snagged up that id-51 with no problem! me myself when i get the money saved up i will be buying the 9700 and ill stick my 7100 in the car!
Super jealous I would love to have that radio over the last month. I have recently started using 220 and it took about two weeks and now I’ve got about 10 12 guys on a regular basis. in my area they get on 220 every Sunday evening the people that complain just don’t use it if you use it, people will come

This is an amazing buy. Yes, it's one band. Ham radio is all about experimentation. That's a great radio in pristine condition.

Nice Transceiver! Hope to See it in Operation in another Video. 73' Alex DC5GA
I would have jumped on it too! I have a 275H (fantastic rig), and this looks very similar, just one generation behind.
Great job Eric, maybe I'll hear ya on da bands 73 🎙Ira

Sweet!
I have the two meter unit. I inherited it from family. Used it on SSB many times.

Wow amazing these rigs were and still are amazing AB9EW
I have one in the box in the same condition.
A desktop radio comes with a belt clip for the mic?
A mic hanger not a belt clip. You got to keep busting my balls here don't you?
UHF technically is 300 to 3000 MHz.
Calm down, it's just a radio. It's rare but not that rare.
Who cares. Why shit on someone else's parade. It may not even work, who the fk cares tho. I like it.
