This was a number one hit for George in 1987, his third number one as a solo artist in the US.
@@redletter2008He did SO much amazing music.
I first watched this video when it was new, in 1987. I was 5 years old, at my grandmother's house, and it was when cable TV was a brand new thing, no one else in my family had cable. I loved this song at 5, it was the first I had heard of George Harrison, and I had no idea he was in the Beatles. Still love this song to this day.
How could you not love George ❤
When I was little I watched this video all the time. Loved it. Had no clue he was part of the Beatles.
This song was the third most popular hit of the year in 1988. If I'm not mistaken, it was the last number one song by a solo Beatle.
People were surprised to find this was a cover, but George owns it, in much the same way that he used to own Chuck Berry numbers in the days of the Beatles. And yet he was 'the quiet one'....
George vacationed in Benton, Illinois, visiting his sister Louise in Sept. '63, five months before The Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and became the biggest phenomenon in the world. While in Benton, where no one knew who he was yet, he visited the local record shops buying up American singles and albums that he couldn't get in England. Among the albums he purchased was the only album recorded by American rhythm and blues singer James Ray, which contained this song, "Got My Mind Set on You". That is where George first heard this great rocker.
His poor sister kept trying to convince people in Illinois that he was a big star in the UK but no one really believed her. They were like, “Sure he is, whatever.” George thought it was hilarious. He volunteered to play with a band at a local Elks club dance and they let him but he claimed they were not very impressed.
That was a big hit off of his Cloud Nine album, which was one of his best. George had quite a few solo hits.
I ❤seeing you look so happy.This was a hit.
My two daughters were one and three when this came out and they would howl with laughter as soon as it came on the radio. It always puzzled me and I finally realized that they were picking up on the joy I felt at hearing George’s voice after a long silence 😁. It’s a great song. Thanks Jayy 🌺✌️
This was FIRE back in the day...especially the vid! Speaking of "video", there's a part that some people thought he actually performed that stunt!!
Wow, this barely came in on a far away radio station, that was my George, couldnt miss the vocals ten million years ago. Oh, listen to Crackerbox Palace or This Song. He had such great videos with the music!
BETTER YET, Jay should react to the VIDEOS for "CRACKERBOX PALACE," and "THIS SONG" they are really fun!
So clever. So much fun!
The backflip off the big chair always cracks me up.
Great song, I haven’t heard this in years
Great reaction, Miss Jayy! I haven't heard this in a long time. And yes, it's a fun, upbeat song. Back in the day, when it was released, it was a big hit. Thanks for the great reaction!
An awful lot of people, even some big time Beatles fans, don't know that this song is a remake, and that the original is by James Ray.
Love it, Jayy ck out Isn;t it a Pity from concert for George with Billy Preston taking us to church, bring your tissues.
George's sister lived in the US in St. Louis and George flew here in like 1962. This song was by an American artist and George liked it so he went to a record shop and bought the single. He took it home and played it for John and Paul.
Ringo wasn't in the band yet and their drummer at that time was a bit aloof and boring so he probably didn't hear it. Forward to 1987, George needed a single and remembered this song, recorded it and it went to #1 on the Billboard top 100 here in the US.
I think it went to #1 in the UK also but not sure.
Peace ❤
Jayy, you should watch it a few times again on your own, and just pay attention to the BACKGROUND!! LOL! There is a LOT going on there, all sorts of objects moving, books on the shelf, drawers opening and closing, etc.
Only with every breath I take by Gene Pitney ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Before that he made a song for John called All those years ago and after this song he made when we was fab remembering the Beatles. Try to find these two. Are good songs as well.
Yes, both videos for George's "ALL THOSE YEARS AGO" (written about John, just after his murder) and "WHEN WE WAS FAB" are on You Tube. I hope she reacts to them as well
When we was fab is another 👍
Great song by him❤
I believe jeff Lynn from elo produced it and sings backing vocals
He did and you can definitely hear the ELO vibe. George & Jeff were great friends
Jeff (along with Dhani, George son) finished George’ last album when he died in tribute to him
This is the second of 2 videos shot for this song and the most popular
Yes there is another video for it, takes place in an arcade. But i like this one better. But she should watch that one too
child , He was a great singer , A member of the classic group '' The Beatles '' . I'm so happy you enjoy this !
You should look back at Jays peoples reactions.
She knows that George was a Beatle, She has been reacting to Beatles' songs for at least 2 years now. ♥
Another later career Beatle song: Jenny Wren by McCartney. Written in his 60s. Gorgeous song.
My favorite Beatle. ❤❤❤❤
You should try the Weird Al version "This Song's Just Six Words Long"
I didn't KNOW Weird Al did a parody on it!! I have to look into that!
You should do isn’t it a pity … beautiful song by george
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
"Blow Away" by him, please!!
OH yeah, LOVE "BLOW AWAY" cute video with it too
Big hit
Please react to the Beatles Norwegian Wood which I believe is a George creation and in my opinion one of the best Beatles song
No, that was written by John, It was the first time that George played a sitar in it, though. John also sang it.
More George
No hit? Where did you get that idea from? It was a #1 hit song in the US and a huge hit all over the world!
Guitar. gently weeps. Lol
Great song, let me suggest you watch the video for Something, one of George Harrison's best songs of his entire career, written and performed during his time with the Beatles. th-cam.com/video/UelDrZ1aFeY/w-d-xo.html
Weird Al 6 words long
The dance was just a joke
