    Just got through compiling FreeCAD from source on a Slackware system. Looking forward to re-creating all MJs examples. He's best 'splaner of technique.

    Awesome teaching. Great example of ways to protect your models so that they can and can't be reverse engineered.

      That's is a very good point regarding protecting your model against reverse engineering 👍👍 glad you enjoyed.

      Everything can be reverse engineered. If theres a will, there is a way. So it's absolutely useless to do this imho, because it only makes it unnecessarily harder or even impossible for beginners to customize certain things in a model.

      @@Der_Kleine_Mann If this is the case. Making it harder for someone to use my work without permission. If someone wishes to go this route, I make it as hard as I can for reverse engineering. Even hiding identification marks. Better to ask permission, then be sued into forgiveness.

    Very interesting. I've been searching for hours on how to extend an axis or face/s of an imported STL. Thanks!

    You can also load a 3DS in PrusaSlicer and save as STL

    Thank you, I didn't know there were any components inside.
    I tried on some models I had on hand and I find it's like editing of PDFs in vector graphics software: the results are fully dependent on the process of file creation. One file had just one component, another had many, yet another had many but the text was embedded into the surfaces. So it may or may not work on each individual model.

    Excellent work great teaching style, but my 0.20.1 version won't let me transform any of my separated meshes. Ie I can select transform it opens the increment tab on the left but no xyz plane icon on the part and changing the values does nothing?

    how to add mesh during designing a model in Freecad?

  • @tonyp4894
    @tonyp4894 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Can you make an STL into a sketch? Once I make the mesh to a solid, then refine the image, I end up with a nice solid, but I can't figure out how to make it so that I can constraint the lines to add the dimensions and end up with a working sketch. This way I can put the dimensions into a spreadsheet and make the part parametric. Can you help?

    So how would we then cnc these converted 3d designs from wood?

    Another excellent video. Thank you for the content. How did you learn to use freecad so proficiently?

    • @MangoJellySolutions
      @MangoJellySolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you for the kind comments. So I came from a 3d background from software such as rhino, solidworks and studios max. That then started the subscription model and I had to change as I couldn't afford it and found and fell in love with freecad. Since then it was how do I do the same types of tasks in freecad. It kind of snowballed from there.

      @@MangoJellySolutions Thank you for providing us with the knowledge and the excellent explanations of the ins an outs of freecad. I was lost until i found your videos on freecad. I personally think they are the best source of information for freecad on the interwebs. Please keep them coming.

    I am very much enjoying your tutorials. You have been very informative. Would you consider showing how to add fasteners to an Assembly 4 model?

      Great to hear your enjoying them. Yes I will add that request to the list. I think it will be very beneficial and it's one that I world like to add to the beginners freecad series.

      @@MangoJellySolutions Watched the video and it was very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to cover it! Would you consider going into some detail about the fastener workbench? For example, Creating a threaded rod, or threading a portion of your model with a die or tap and getting that into your assembly. I am a newbie and these things seems to be pretty tough to get my head around and working. If you don't have time, no worries as I will eventually figure it out. Thank you so much for providing the help to the community!
      Regards,
