Gunships are really underrated, they’re crazy effective just hovering overhead and providing fire support on the heavy hitters hiding being the front line
I think they don't care since these aircraft some fucking how can reach 2200 kmh (average today fighter speed) even being a godam square How? The explanation would be straps strong ass engine to brick but how air resistance don't break them apart is scary
@@miguelmartins5968better materials and engineering. The imperium is decaying for 9k years but they have 29k years of engineering and advanced on us before that.
In the 41st millenium, everyone has laser or beam weapons that can instakill any aircraft with insufficient armor so using flying bricks make sense in this setting.
I prefer the design of the Xiphon pattern interceptor. That thing looks advanced, sleek and fast as hell. The fact it looks like s BSG colonial viper too helps

strange that the aquila lander doesn't have a turret on the back, especially when you already see a coupola that could be easily replaced by a turret it's especialy weird that a VIP transport shuttle has no way to protect her 6
40k tech of course... much better armed, much better weapons and targeting systems, similar speed... just because stylization lean towards mix between medieval and WWII aesthetic doesnt mean that technology is inferior... just like with star wars, ships/tanks/weapons may look wanky but would destroy any modern day equivalent.
could just as well post a full poster of all aircraft first, so anyone can have a look the story of every aircraft is not worth listening to anyway... video could've been 20 seconds long
The thought has occured to me that an Ace Combat style 40k game would be phenomenal
Basically project wingman with exterminatus at the end against chaos infused plane.
imperial airforce sum up in one sentence: the guard's armour so good they make them flying
"I can't even spell aerodynamics" - WH40k
if you pay the omnissiah and the god emperor enough, a brick will fly eventually

6:27 the Stuka of the WH40K universe.
The entire imperium air force looks like its designed un the ww2 era so
6:57 and here's a WH40K B17
Avenger is more Il-2 than Stuka as this is frontline attacker aircraft not dive bomber
More Like a dieselpunk variant of the A-10 Warthog...
@@leander2843 yeah, if you think about this, WH40k is just diselpunk in space sprinkled with mind magic
The Avenger is like the A-10's older angrier brother.
Honestly i was curious about imperial aircraft for a while and this came up
Imperium doesn't seem to care much for aerodynamics I guess it's not that important.

Thanks I love informative videos like this.
With enough Dakka, anything can fly...
The fact that the Guard does not have something equivalent to the AC-130 Specter is a crime. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_AC-130)
I like how most of the imperialm fighterships are obviously just 40k version ww1 and ww2 fighter planes
Love the avenger, best mix between a stuka, an A10 and a pod racer.
Also where's the xyphon?
The wings and general profile are more reminiscent of a Corsair
the xyphon is a space marine aircraft, these are just imperial navy aircraft
