    I was surfing TH-cam for a simple and neat color scheme for the Star Spawn when I came across you video. Not only did your video present a nice option, but it inspired me to do a little extra with my models and their bases! Thank you! :)

      Thanks for the comment Alex! I'm glad it was helpful. You find after doing a few bases that just a few extra simple little things can make such a difference. Like taking some twigs and sticking them down as logs. I got that off a basing tutorial. I'd never of thought of it on my own! I'd love to see some of the bases that you do so feel free to post them to my twitter or insta :)
      Thanks Alex!

    Did you mask out the card slots?

    • @theplasticcanvas
      @theplasticcanvas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I reckon I used painters tape to mask the entire base because the mini was already glued down. It was a couple of years ago now but I'm pretty sure I can remember taping up the entire base.

    Great job)))) Tell me, how exactly did you make a smooth transition of color on the wings and body of a monster? Which technique? I would be grateful if you give a link to a lesson on this technique.

      Thanks! It's all done with wet blending. So you see at about 0:47 when I'm doing the first wing, I block in the two colours that I want to blend, and then while they're both still wet, I blend the lighter colour into the darker one. Sometimes you need to create a mix of the two colours if they're a bit different to keep it smooth e.g. blue into orange, but I don't think I had to do that here because they're all similar(ish) shades of green. Just search 'wet blending' and watch some vids from different channels. There's no one good video that I'd recommend!

      @@theplasticcanvas That is, after applying a dark and light base color, do I need to moisten the brush and make the transition from light to dark just with a wet brush without paint? Did I understand correctly?

    • @theplasticcanvas
      @theplasticcanvas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ph.konopelko I usually do it with some of the lighter paint already in the brush. So I lay down the two colours, then go back to the pallet and load back up with the lighter colour, and then blend the lighter colour into the darker one. I start with some paint in the brush just to help the lighter colour 'overpower' the darker one. I hope that makes sense!

    Really nice work on a truly awful miniature. I see that in the newer printings they have a far better dynamic sculpt.

      I actually didn't mind this sculpt. But then that's probably because the rest of the minis in that printing made it look amazing in comparison! I've got the horrific journeys expansion and those minis are heaps better.
