Early 90s Firebirds are my favorite because it was a rebirth era for them and they celebrated that with tons of cool custom colors. I really like the Celluloid pickguard limited editions. This time a Blue Sparkle one popped up for a princely sum!

The 90s were a VERY good decade for Gibson! Most of my Gibbys are 90s
Z is for late. That is a magnificent blue firebird.
Sparkle finishes are cool but they don't mix too well with the nitrocellulose lacquer clear coat Gibson uses. The clear coats shrink on these and you're left with horrible orange peel matching the texture of the sparkle base coat.
Not all celluloid gets cell rot. But if one gets it everything stored with it will.

bought one new firebird in 1991, black with gold hardware. didnt like it so i sold it a couple years later. being a les paul player the neck was way to long for me and the truss rod needed adjusting way too often. ill never buy another
That cherry special is beautiful
That red Les Paul with the non-matching wood reminds me of my 2005 SG standard. The whole body is one single piece up until the bottom edge below the controls, where the slab must’ve ended. The piece that caps it off is a different tone, and its rather apparent. It’s a great guitar, but that spot always bugs me.
That firebird, is what Gibson. Can and should be doing on a regular basis, they can do some badass finishes.
The banjo tuners are like the switches on a mustang. If they’re not there it just doesn’t feel right.
I think if the pickups weren't so weird on the V2 they'd be a lot cooler.

Does the off gassing not happen if the guitar is left out?
It does, it just isn't trapped in the case with it so not as detrimental
As far as the 1980 E/2 goes, the Kahler can't be original as the Kahler wasn't released until 1983.

Man, that two-tone Special is so disgusting that it's gorgeous. They could have flipped it over and routed it the other way for closer to a match on top but I'm glad they chose not to.

No, Firebird pickups may look like mini humbuckers but are different pickups altogether

Offgassing? The pick guard gives off a gas that ruins stuff??
Apparently the celluloid material that guitar builders used to use can breakdown chemically over time. When they do a corrosive gas is released. If the guitar is stored in a case the gas will damage all of the metal surfaces.
The old ones are great, but the new Gibsons value is questionable, as none of them are hand made. Boring!!
