My family has owned a male and a female Akita. The male was more docile than the female. We found the male dog dead in our yard. It looked like it had been attacked in the face by an animal. We believe that’s what happened too because sometimes my mom would have to stand there after feeding him to make sure he ate because otherwise he would let other animals eat his food. He also wanted your attention all of the time. If I went into the yard and played with him for awhile then stopped to do something else like pick up pecans, he would get angry. He would step on my foot or try to trip me but I never saw him growing at anyone, person or animal.
