It's literally the lore "end" of the game, as the to-be-lich throws away his gun, and thus the future gungeon. A farewell to arms, so to say. This update was really well thought-out, even lore-wise.
The Gunslinger's past (or lackthereof, according to the game) interests me the most of all the pasts. This is due to the pure bullshit that had to happen just so this one old man could gain closure. On some level, the Lich knows everything he did - entering the Gungeon, becoming its TRUE master - was wrong. He regretted being complicit in the deaths of so many that sought to change the past, only to be trapped in a hellhole where they live and die eternally. At the end of all things, the Lich himself has to set time itself straight after a Paradox shows itself, destroying the very thing he ruled. Gungeon is deep, and I love it so much.
You can speak to Manuel as the Gunslinger and Manuel will comment how it seems that no one comes to the Gungeon anymore, so it seems the Gunslinger was successful

Most of them gave up and are trapped there forever. Now you might be wondering what happened to the people who killed there past. My theory is that they still killed it even tho there were not in the gungeon because of a paradox. The gunslinger saved all these people from an eternity trapped in the gungeon.
"Kill your past, you've already damned your future." That's the Gunslinger's warning on the memorial at the start of every run. When you spend countless life times fighting, suffering and dying to correct *one* mistake in your life, how can you possibly ever move on and live again once that mistake is rectified? @@tatjanatjulkina6088 Gunslinger prevented the lich from creating the gun, thus destroying it, but since it was what brought him, it creates a Paradox involving such a powerful being to the gungeon that the entire thing destabilizes and reenters conventional time, or what I believe is that the gun, bullet, and arcane gunpowder are what keep the gungeon outside of time, meaning that almost everything that happens does not, and objects are trapped once they enter, even killing your past, in the realm outside of time you might has well not have, with all possibilities, including your attempt never succeeding. By stopping the gun from being created, you force the cycle to a halt and place the gungeon inside of time, where all the possibilities conflict, forcing the gungeon to destabilize completely and begin breaking down.

You are supposed to fight him with gunslinger, who is clearly OP on his own, and throwing some amazing synergies and A-S tier weapons on the top is an overkill. I don't remember what loadout I had when I fought him, but same, only DPS cap was stopping me.
I played through this fight and won first try, which I think is the best outcome since it felt so climactic. I had three blanks and lost 5 hearts, it was such a great fight. The sheer chaos of fighting two liches, along with this new song that elevates the feeling of the fight. When I started hearing the lyrics I was very surprised and went into the settings to increase the volume of the music. The fight was great and I ran out of ammunition on like 4 guns. It's unfortunate that the fight with the glitched lich can only be done once, but maybe I'll try to find some mod that adds it as the gunslinger's past.

Just tried fighting this guy yesterday I had tons of hearts and ok guns. I thought it was going to be like the normal lich fight, so I was smug because I thought I was about to unlock the gunslinger. But then I heard this song and there were two health bars, I got completely destroyed due to being unprepared. It seemed way harder than any boss I have faced. I'm going to attempt it again soon Edit: I just beat him with cactus its so stupidly broken with all the synergies it's unreal, kind of feels like I cheated
Yeah radon coil is also busted af it one-shot all the normal enemies not even including the extra bullets it shoots out the sides, it also helped that i had two 4x ammo bandanas (can’t remember the name) so i had practically infinite ammo and blazed through all the floors. Was a fun run tho

When I fought them it was a rainbow run, had a 4000 round Vulcan cannon that had blank bullets and explosive rounds. And like three different damage buffs. Needless to say I sat in one spot and in about 10 seconds I had won. Edit: I spelt won as one like a twat.

This was the most intense shower I ever had in a while
Just tried fighting this guy yesterday I had tons of hearts and ok guns. I thought it was going to be like the normal lich fight, so I was smug because I thought I was about to unlock the gunslinger. But then I heard this song and there were two health bars, I got completely destroyed due to being unprepared. It seemed way harder than any boss I have faced. I'm going to attempt it again soon
Edit: I just beat him with cactus its so stupidly broken with all the synergies it's unreal, kind of feels like I cheated
Yeah radon coil is also busted af it one-shot all the normal enemies not even including the extra bullets it shoots out the sides, it also helped that i had two 4x ammo bandanas (can’t remember the name) so i had practically infinite ammo and blazed through all the floors. Was a fun run tho
just pick up an AWP, instant win with all the synergies it has

When I fought them it was a rainbow run, had a 4000 round Vulcan cannon that had blank bullets and explosive rounds. And like three different damage buffs. Needless to say I sat in one spot and in about 10 seconds I had won.
