    Wesley Snipes really was the perfect choice for Blade. He had the look, voice, physique, vibe and was a martial artist badass. He fit the role perfectly.

    • @Godzillarex

      They tried to give him a TV series, but it was pretty bad. Wesley Snipes is key to this character, he probably is the only man alive right now that can play him well.

    • @theghostrider3350
      @theghostrider3350 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Yeah I know. But Marvel TV and with a good show runner would make a great Blade TV Series. I think they could find someone who can play Blade but no one would be better than Wesley.

    • @doublep1980

      Not only that,Blade was the first successful Marvel movie,with a black character,long before that overrated Black Pussycat and he was also the first successful Rated-R,Marvel movie,long before Deadpool or Logan!
      According to Stan Lee(RIP),Blade's success at the box office,pretty much kickstarted that whole comicmovie-trend we have today.When the Hollywood studios saw how much money,a movie with a character,that isn't well known,makes,if you do it right,they started to finance all these superhero flicks.

      @Godzillarex  6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Thank you! I still consider Blade the best fighter. And that's because that really is Wesley Snipes doing his own fights. He doesn't have another guy switch in to do the challenging martial arts stuff. He does it himself. Although MCU Cap and DCEU Batman are awesome, Chris Evans and Ben Affleck have their stunt double do a lot of, if not all, of the choreography when it comes to the challenging martial arts stuff (kicks, somersaults, throws, etc)

    It reminds me of a discussion we had under a video of yours, maybe an year ago (of course, i couldn't have been the only one, but still...) about reverse punches for karate and roundhouse kicks for taekwondo.

    I also wanted to add that wesley snipes himself says he also uses kempo & boxing in blade's fighting style too. The first scene with blade/the hallway fight in blade 2, wesley says in the commentary that he uses some of those moves too.

    You could take a look at Star Wars characters. Starkiller from the force Unleashed uses kendo and hand to hand techniques that look like judo( head locks neck breaks throws and even what looks like a variation on the sacrifice throw.) the clone in force Unleashed two uses a lot Of wushu.

    Let's not forget Brandon Lee and The Crow. A movie that set the bar for R rated violence with noir, comic book style action that looked and felt like you were reading the comic.

    • @Godzillarex

      Sadly, that movie is remembered more than anything for the unfortunate accident that cost Brandon his life.

    Great video Adrian. I saw Blade and Blade 2 for the first time this year and they were good. Wesley Snipes is perfect in the role and the action scenes are great. But there are mediocre aspects of them and some things particularly the CGI that are extremely dated. I'm not watching Blade: Trinity though.
