Rocket the most underrated character in this trilogy. Fun fact: he's always the first to make a sound after something major had happened
Rocket and maurice are awesome 💪
He is so amazing
it took a few years after watching the trilogy to realize what an amazing character Rocket was. he went from bully/adversary to Caesar's most loyal 'ride or die' lieutenant
rocket ❤ so loyal 💪
I wonder why he's the only one who can howl while the other ones can't.
The actor who plays Koba gets mostly overshadowed by the tour de force that IS Andy Serkis... But shouts out to him as well. Absolutely kills this role and even steals the show at points.
Toby Kebbell - he’s exceptionally good in ‘Dead Man’s Shoes’ too (a very different type of film / role)
Did the guy who played Koba are also the ones who played Kong on Skull Island?
@@grahamturner288 And Servant on AppleTV
The saddest thing to me honestly in the fall of Koba was the scene of Caesar initially reassuring Koba with, “Home… family… future.” It really gets me how you see the brightness return to Koba’s face; Caesar must have worked hard to convince Koba a life existed outside of his trauma and pain. He was stable and free with the ape society. It’s hard to watch Koba’s pain turn to rage and malice; knowing what it leads to
Maurice is the MVP. He's the moral fiber and wisdom of the group.
thank you
👍👏

@@kboy128HE, only the actor is a she.
@@Jormone ohhhh my bad
"Is this how you start a war, just create some kind of misunderstanding?"
Almost always.
Most wars are not misunderstood. Its some evil bastard manipulsting people to hate people ...and even the just because you hate someone doesnt give the right to end their life
Wars are caused by groups with incompatible goals reaching a significantly sharp contradiction, and choosing (for whatever reason) to escalate the conflict with violence. Wars can start because of anything, but they can’t just continue on their own. People need a reason to choose to continue to fight, which can be as simple as a feeling (however justified) of a need for self-defense.
When the apes show up angry.. Mama Amber - “It’s ok. We have banana popsicles in the fridge.” 😂😂😂
“That’s Cesar’s Palace.”
Wocka wocka
@TheDudeSM80: Nice, nice!👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👌🏾😂
I can see the 2 old men coming up with something too 😁😂
Caesar was played by Andy Serkis, the actor that played Gollum.
That's right, he is THE motion capture go to guy! Also played King Kong and Captain Haddock in Tin Tin, among many others.
Really nice, polite and humble guy and a fantastic director too.
He owns a massive motion capture studio near where I live in London. It's amazing inside. 😁🇬🇧
This is the second movie they've watched, do you think no one has already made this comment?
@@leonrobinson2475 I think you need to lighten up. It's really not that serious! Jeez 😳🙄
What's the point of making a comment that's already been made a hundred times?
@@leonrobinson2475
I didn't know that he played Ceasar & this is the first comment that I read about it. So, sometimes it's ok to state something that others have already said.
:)
I love Malcolm and Caesar. Two characters who can recognize the value in the other side. But they're outnumbered by those who can only see the differences and threats. Unfortunately this is the way our world is.
Just a truly underrated and under discussed series. The three, and now four, are an modern blessing and so respectfully designed with the original series of films in mind.
I did not like the 4th installment at all. Thought the storytelling was empty and none of the characters were compelling.
@@mowgli6345 fascinating
@@mowgli6345 Couldn't disagree more. Honestly thought it was the best one so far. This one being a close second.
@@deehasapples7646 Really? What did you like about it? I felt it was not nearly as character driven as this trilogy.
Noah and Proximus were really uninteresting compared to Caesar and Koba.
@@mowgli6345I completely agree. Kingdom was a total miss compared to Rise, Dawn and War.
Andy Serkis does such an amazing job playing Caesar and the motion capture👏🏽👏🏽
This is easily my favorite film in the series. The visuals, storytelling, acting, character development, all phenomenally well realized. That opening shot of Caesar gives me chills every time.
I think of the 3, this is the best one. But all 3 have something different to offer. They’re all fantastic in their own way.
It's been a long time since Caesar had heard music as well. He's probably happy to see electricity too!
Amber:"Koba's nuts man".
Koba BEEN nuts, from the giddy up!!🤣😭😂
IT IS SO RARE when a movie sequel compliments the original, and this one, truly did, didn't it? The writing was done so well, I love it when a story is made for an intelligent audience instead of dumbing it down for simple minds, like most summer blockbusters. Glad you enjoyed this one! Can't wait to watch the next one with you guys! Stay blessed! -CAL ❤😊
🤓 Fun Fact: The amazingly talented actress Judy Greer plays Cornelia, Ceasar's wife.
My man Rob moves so effortlessly between calling them monkeys, then gorillas, then apes 🤣🤣🤣
I love y'all reactors so I don't even mind but I'm over here cracking up 🤣🤣😂😭
Love the reaction! Just wish I could have seen the subtitles since most of this movie is in sign language
Thank you for saying that. I was thinking the same thing!!
I just can't believe they watched it like that. I was hoping it was just the video for us in the editing but if not I can't watch this reaction. There are whole conversations with maurice and koba that they had no idea about? This is a major fail on their part.
@@xtremejay2000 Yeah I was thinking the same, was hoping it was indeed edited out or something. Turns out they were watching with no subtitles, what a shame.
There's an end credits scene where you hear scuffling, metal scraping, and panting from an ape. It was supposed to imply that Koba somehow survived his fall, but they didn't bring him back in the next movie.
Hes in the cast
This movie s so genius. It shines such a bright light on human frailty and prejudice. You forget that they’re apes.
“I thought we had a chance.”
“I did too.”
breaks my heart so much
matt Reeves did an amazing job with the direction of this and the next one. and weta did a spectacular job with the effects
I'm glad you saw the post credit from the last movie.
This is a great trilogy. (I haven't seen the new one yet)
Someone may have mentioned it in the comments for the last movie, but the the reason the big orangutan is named named Maurice is a throwback to the original Charlton Heston movie. The actor who played Dr. Zaius (The religious orangutan) was named Maurice Evans. A character actor in dozens of films.
The behind the scenes footage of the actors doing the scenes in the motion capture suits is amazing to see. They did so much training on how apes moved, behaved, communicated etc. Down the details of micro facial expressions.
Andy Serkis is awesome man So is Gary Oldman definitely a good movie 🎬
I think your next franchise reactions should be "National Treasure." There's only 2 movies, but you'll really enjoy them. Especially if you are history buffs! 😊
I agree! Those are fun movies.
This is showing that a remake of an old popular movie series can actually be superior to the originals from the 60s-70s. The original is still King though. 😊
You still need to follow the old trillage after you've caught up on this part of the story
@@janbrown5641exactly 💯
Well… if you discount the Tim Burton version ;)
Same with dune
@RyanRumbles434 I don't think this really a remake it's more like a prequel to the original movies.
MY FAVORITE trilogy OAT! Caesar is the goat of all Leaders! Caesar’s aura is unmatched
I feel sorry for the horse that has to carry the Orangutang, like the way I felt about Hoss's horse in Bonanza.
Bucky bonzai
According to Google, Orangutans are not even super heavy. They weigh between 150-200 pds usually
Love the originals even though they have old effects. They ask so many moral questions. It’s worth the journey to watch the 5 originals just so you get the references in the new ones. For instance, Caesar doesn’t appear until the tragic third movie.
The story in this film feels like a Shakespearian epic. It's just great all around. Even the visual effects still hold up ten years later.
The third film (War of TPOTA) is so heartbreaking and wraps up Caesar’s story soooo nicely. But this one is absolutely a standout of the 3 films. I was obsessed with this movie for weeks after I saw it
Was a fan of this franchise when started in late 60's movie and 70's tv series. Today's special effects do it justice. Wish they could do Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan' justice to
his books. Written in 1912. 'John Carter' is also one of his books. Died in 1950.
I'm so glad I got this reaction tonight. I just finished watching the first (of the new) one over on Alex Hefner's channel, then I see yall posted this, it was awesome watching them back to back. I can't wait for you guys to do the next one.
What humans fear humans destroy...no truer words have ever been spoken.
Also glad to see I'm not the only one who loved this trilogy. One of the best I've seen yet. Now I hear the new one that just came out like a month ago is the start of a new trilogy
The leader of the human settlement is actor Gary Oldman. He is a powerhouse method and character actor!! Second to none! You should check out the following of some of his works:
"Leon: The Professional" (1994)
"Romeo Is Bleeding" (1993)
"Bram Stoker's Dracula" (1992)
"The Dark Knight" (as Commissioner Gordon) (2008)
"The Book of Eli" (2010)
"Hannibal" (2001)
"Lost In Space" (1998)
"Murder in the First" (1995)
"Air Force One" (1997)
"The Fifth Element" (1998)
"Robocop" (2014)
You should check out the video of Andy Serkis talking about filming of the scene of the apes on horseback at the building where Malcolm approaches Caesar. It's hilarious.
Glad you’re doing these films, I just watched the new one at the cinema 😬❤️
Insane how underrated this trilogy is .
More than a trilogy... got another one coming out.
Caesar journey is so beautiful to watch.
The scene where Caesar has the opportunity to help Koba is also a reflection of the previous movie where Caesar could’ve helped Jacobs out of the helicopter but let Koba have the last say in whether he should live or die.
So excited to see y’all reacting to one of my favorite trilogies! This one is probably my favorite of the three
I like that this movie doesn’t take the easy way out and just make the humans the villains. It shows there are good characters and bad characters on both sides. Neither side is the “good side”.
I like these movies and remember liking the old ones too....man I'm old
I feel so bad for koba but at the same time i understand that caesar could not trust in him anymore
Feel bad for him? Why he was evil
Has to see the fourth this weekend ❤❤❤ great reaction take care greetings from France 🇫🇷
They're called visual effects for movies. Not graphics, those are in games. For these movies they're actually more specifically done by motion capture, in short mocap
This one out of all the apes films does the best job at showing our human flaws through these ape characters, the apes hate humans for being cruel and destructive but the apes become them especially Koba.
Ceasar believed apes were better than humans. His belief that apes were more moral than humans blinded him to what Koba was doing. In the end, Ceasar saw that ape was no better than human.
I think that guy who plays Caesar is same guy who plays Gollum
so this is all in the goldengate bridge area, and they move to a lake in walking distance. and that lake is a refurring to the lake in the original, but in the original they walk into the statue of liberty.
Saw this in theaters, and it was absolutely amazing. One of my fav non-human villains.
Caesar is such a bad ass! He gives me chills! Maurice is my love and Rocket is just the BEST!
Guys, no subtitles.
Yea just underneath
Kobe on the spinning turret is one of the most gorgeous scenes of the 2010s.
Check out Jim Brauer when he says we are more like Chimps than Apes. Funniest bit. Got to watch
Zoological fact I haven't seen elsewhere in the comments.
Koba is a bonobo, the least violent of the Great Ape species, which includes humans, chimps, gorillas and orangutans.
Koba had to go through some serious trauma to get this twisted.
Hi, thanks for watching the second part of Caesars story Dawn and the second movie in the most underrated criminally unappreciated reboot franchise ever. I adore these films and watch them every two weeks. The are masterpieces to me. I love Caesar played to perfection by Andy Serkis using motion capture. Toby Krebbel is also perfection as Koba. Koba was experimented on a lot by humans so you can’t really blame him for how he feels. The only thing i don’t like about Koba is shooting Caesar and killing Rockets son Ash by throwing him over the balcony. I hope you’ll finish the trilogy by watching War. I went to see the new one Kingdom twice . It a wonderful film. Owen Teague who plays the protagonist Noa is great considering Andy Serkis taught him how to move and act like an ape. Andy Serkis set up ape school for the cast . I advise you see Kingdom after watching War because it takes place 300 years after War. Take care 😘🏴 #ApesTogetherStrong ❤️ #TeamCaesar ❤️ #TeamNoa (Kingdom) ❤️
Andy Serkis is fantastic as Caesar. Nice reaction. Ape not kill Ape. Oh hello Gary Oldman and Keri Russell. Great ending. Now time for the next one.
Failure to understand one another can lead to worse things. Blind trust is dangerous. These are the two lessons that Caesar and his son learned in this movie.
Been waiting for Young Guns 2! When you giving it to us!?
Same dude who acts for Cesar is smeagol from lord of the rings.. dudes a legend.
Koba is one of the greatest villains of all time. He's up there with Thanos, Killmonger, Magneto, Silva from Skyfall, Tavington from The Patriot, The MUTOs from the 2014 Godzilla, Gen. Hummel from The Rock, and Davy Jones from POTC, to name a few, lol.
Banana popsicles LMAO!!! Love it!!!
War was such a great conclusion to the story of ceasar. Hope you watch that one soon.
Fun fact, Koba was Joseph Stalins nickname. So we have one the greatest leaders in human history vs one of the most evil!
The 3rd movie is the best of them all. Great lead up movies all to build war for the planet of the apes. It’s spectacular. One of the top 10 greatest films of all time. I’m so anxious for you guys to watch. Great content.
NEVER just one bad person. As we’ve learned over and over!
watch 'Identity ' 2003 and Primal Fear 1996.
Y’all didn’t recognize Sirus Black
Or Commissioner Gordon - he's in it too... 😉
this movie was spot on how humans respond to a pandemic - we saw half the country not care that they were spreading covid
Love this - just wish you had subtitles on.
4:52 from the Golden Gate Bridge.
What I liked about the remake of The Planet of the Apes is how they show what happened to the human race before the apes took over. As a child when I watched the original ones, I always wondered and asked what happened to the humans? It wasn't explained, at least I don’t remember any explanation. I like the remake way better.
* The Ritual
* Heavenly Creatures
* Apocalypse Now
* Mad max and mad max road warrior
* One Flew over the cuckoos nest
* the shining
* metropolis
* the lost boys
Fact that they aim to make 9 more movies is crazy
You can tell caesar and koba where very close until the humans arrive 😭
You should watch the 4 other original movies since you watched the first original to see how the plot has changed in the reboot series.
Selfishly, I love your reaction videos to my favorite movies (like this one) especially those in the mystery/ thriller/ horror category. If you take suggestions, I would love your reaction to Crimson Peak.
Ceasar kills Koba in the same manner that Koba killed Jacobs in the first movie. They both are hanging from a bridge asking for help. Koba literally became what he hated and died because of it.
I just watched the fourth movie (Kingdom) in theater and can say the next trillogy is off to a great start. I heard there is suppose to be 3 trillogies so a total of 9 prequels. All four prequel movies so far have easter eggs from the original Planet of the Apes movies.
the older guy in the glasses is gary odman he was the main bad guy in airforce one
Koba was such an amazing villain
I don’t care if I enjoy the movie or not. I always try to give a 👍🏾 because of what Amber says in the outro. That should always be the goal.
So this movie is supposed to be based on the apes living in Muir Woods National Monument where Caesar’s adopted father first took him off leash. It’s a park wedged in between San Francisco and the Pacific Ocean. It’s an amazing old growth redwood and Douglas fir forest. It’s super popular and beautiful. If you ever visit CA in the Bay Area def make that part of your plans. You will recognize things in that area from the movie.
The whole idea of this series of movies is to reflect what we humans do. We demonise others in order to feel superior to them and dominate them. It never ends well for anyone.
My boy koba was every right to hate humans but his hate make him betrayal his own family.
They should have deemed Carver a liability and either exiled him or locked him up, then the entire war would have been completely avoided.
Koba was a great antagonist
Blowing up the tower did nothing because they weren't done setting the explosives. The guy blew it too early.
Hey Rob squad I’ve been binge watching all of your movie reviews. You guys are cracking me up. I like seeing your reactions to the old movies. Have you seen Corrina Corrina with Whoopi Goldberg try that one
You guys should watch part 3
Now that you said the name of the movie “the butterfly effect” you’ll have to watch it. It’s hard to get through, but there’s some good acting by Ashton Kutcher.
I love when caesar speak
yk the fight on top of the tower. idk why but it just reminds me of spiderman 3 w/ tobey. spidey and harry vs sandman & venom on the building thats being built
What a great story this is, loved it then I had to go watch War for the Planet Of The Apes fantastic please don't wait to long Amber n Jay to see the next 1.😊❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
When you're done with this modern storyline, you should go back and watch the original part 2 and so on. You've already seen the start of the Charlton Heston story, and the original sequels continue that storyline in a clever way. Each one deals with a unique aspect of the Apes universe and makes it's own social commentary that causes the audience to think about those issues.
The point of the movie and the series is no one is exempt from corruption and evil.
the original series is very different . they said we bred apes as servants the apes rose up beginning with the ape caesar who said the first ape "NO" to an order . this loses a bit of the philosophy of slavery and its truth but it's still a great watch. recommend the original movie series for contracts Its quite different yes but also what the franchise was built upon . ❤❤
You guys will get to watch "Kingdom" not long after you watch "War". That's pretty cool.
