About this channel: We are the Smith's. A Christian family of 6, living in the country just outside of Georgetown, Texas. Granger, an author and former country music singer, Amber, an actor and stay at home mom, and their children: London, Lincoln, River (who we lost when he was 3yrs old) and Maverick.
Granger, when you said “Man this video is total chaos!” I thought… It’s nice to see that you are real people. Chaos hits us all. Thank you for not editing it out. 🥰
Did Maverick say “I love it” when he was playing with the slime? So cute 🥰
The goats crack me up when they try to get in the pen with the chickens 😂
Great episode and I love the Smith’s 💜💜💜
Yup he did ❤.
Love the new chickens. Little Maverick is a regular little farmer. Love seeing all your farm animals and your green house.
Way to go Lincoln for holding the chicken and facing your fears!
We are here for the chaos....YEE YEE❤❤
This is the kind of chaos we all can use! Joy!! Proud of Lincoln for holding the chicken. Maverick was so precious - trying to 'help' as best he could. I love that about him...he just gets right after it. Touched my heart when he was so appreciative of the slime. ❤
Thanks for sharing. Maverick sure likes to help. ❤
Country Things!!!
Maverick is a great little helper…not afraid to get in there with the chickens! Blessings ❤
Granger and Amber don’t ever stop explaining stuff to us because y’all are so interesting.
Great job Lincoln holding the chicken !!!!!!!
I can’t get enough of that cuteness overload of Maverick.
Love y’all. 💗❤️🙏🦋🎈
YEEYEE
Did you mean Amber?
Maverick is getting so BIG... I love him saying ... Im so excited, I love it...
Super cutie pie
Maverick, it’s hard to face our fears but we are brave when we stand up to them. Even trembling.
Brave Maverick, I am proud of you!!!❤🎉😊
God Bless You And Your Family Granger, YEE-YEE man.
I love Maverick. With the chickens, I kept laughing. Especially when Amber said, "Maverick get down." And Maverick repeated her.
Dimond loves all the attention ❤️🥰
Chaos is when you know your kids are having fun 😂 💯 ❤️🙏🙂🙏❤️
It helps if you wait until dark and put the chickens in together, so they wake up together and they will fight less. There will still be an establishment of the pecking order, but it should blow over in a few days. If it doesn't you can get blinders so they can't see straight ahead to peck each other. They will still be able to see to eat and get around. Setting plants on a seedling heat mat can help keep plants warm. The heater will work better if you don't wait until the water in the goats waterer is frozen.
As someone who lives in the Midwest, it’s interesting to see you prepping for the weather that we have every year. Thank you for shedding light on all of the work that goes into caring for pets & livestock in the cold weather because it is a massive undertaking.
I am so glad to hear you say your life is choas mine is too and i would not have it any other way. There is never a dull moment it keeps life interesting. ❤😊❤
Maverick is great to more learning about take care of beautiful chickens and good career of them, God bless to the Smith family!🐔🐓🤠🎸🎶🇺🇲🤟❤️
Country life ain't for everybody. Animals are going to die on the farm. But God wants us to enjoy and care for His creation. Give them the best you can and that's all you can do.Great episode! Yee Yee
I love hearing your POV,, common sense and good human skills!
YEE YEE! Love your family, much blessings! 😊
I completely agree that chickens are live stock. Over the years we have had at least 200 egg layers and meat birds. Raised a few, lost a few. Eggs and meat was the outcome to feed our family.
Lincoln, you are much much braver than I am, and I am 63 years old! I got flogged as a child and to this day I will run from a chicken! Well...maybe not run at my age...but get away asap! I love watching them on folks' channels, but it's a no no for me! I admire the courage you had to overcome your fear. Hope ya'll have a great week ahead and God bless!
Y'all are getting busy! Great to see some more videos. Thank you for sharing your personal life to all of us! 🐍🦅🇺🇲 Yee Yee! 🐔🥚🥚
Yes I’d agree a good chaos . I love seeing all of this and explaining from both of you. I would be protecting my livestock and family .
happy sunday to everyone hope everyone had a great weekend maverick is so cute have great week everyone and if there is no video the rest of this week have a great weekend and see everyone next time
Love watching farm life. Love your fam.
I lost one of my chickens when I combined the young ones with the older ones. It's hard after you put some much time and attention into them, but it is inevitable. Love your set up!
So lovely!
You guys are such a wonderful family,I love watching you.
Happy Sunday! Let the light within you shine bright and inspire others to do the same. Your kindness can make a difference in someone's life today. Have a Beautiful and Blessed evening/ day and week ahead. See you next video. Stay safe and healthy. God Bless.
I'm with Lincoln. I owned chickens for a few years and I'm terrified of them. They fly up in your face and they are dirty. I would never hold them.
Wow! Green grass in the Winter! Looks like you all have green grass, Fall, Winter, and Spring. Northerners have it Spring, Summer, and Fall.+
Chaos is amazing! 😂 Seriously, Granger, give my old Apache grandfather’s trick of the wire cage over the plants you want to protect wrapped in an old comforter! It works! Stay warm, y’all. I want some Granger chili! Bless y’all! ❤
Just saw your interview on Huckabee, and how you said you had moved from being a nominal Christian (as in a religion on a dog tag) to an authentic Christian (as in a born again repentant follower of the Lord Jesus Christ). Unlike what the false teachers try to shove down our throat nowadays, the Lord has opened your eyes to what true Christianity is all about. Stay Biblical, stay true, stay faithful - grace alone through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ alone according to the Holy Bible alone for God's glory alone.
Maranatha !
Col. 1:9-12
I'm sure your flock will be just fine with what you have provided. Our 6 hens survived the Montana cold snap which got down to -45. They had no heat lamp and were in their chicken tractor. (fully enclosed coop area) We just made sure they were out of the wind and we did apply vaseline on their waddles and combs. They survived. I've always read that if you provide the heat, then you don't allow their bodies to feather fully to provide the natural protection that their bodies are capable of providing. It blows my mind how God truly created them perfectly to withstand the harsh conditions. :)
Great job Lincoln holding Diamond 🤗!
Mav is like Jelly on bread🤭.
I hope the Girls make friends😍.
Your idea with the livestock heater just might work. Good luck🤞.
YEE YEE ❣️
JO JO IN VT 💞
Love y'all 😊
Our first round of hens are just about all gone now. I incubated a second round, and they now have a few years on them. We added 6 more at the end of summer in hopes of keeping the eggs coming. I named all of the 1st group and some of the 2nd, but I'm learning to detach. Yes, they are ultimately livestock, but we do treat them well and enjoy watching their antics, almost as much as we enjoy watching Maverick! ❤☺️
Thanks for sharing. Blessings
Dear Smith family, please keep on being yourselves. Life has a learning curve, especially when your rasing children. I was blessed with 3 babies by the grace of God because my odds of ever having even 1 were very slim. They are all grown now, two girls and a baby boy, lol 45, 43, 32, one in health care for the last 23 years, one a stay at home mom, and the baby is an independant contractor who is still home with mama. Just hasn't found the right girl but thats ok, I want the Lord to put the right one there in front of him and he will know its the one.
London, Lincoln, and little Maverick what a beautiful family, and even though I know that there was a precious little red-head there once, I know God has a reason for all things. When I hear Mavy talk I hear River as well. I love you all and pray that the Lord will watch over each and everyone of you, and growing up country and being 70, I know that livestock are for food, might be eggs, might be meat. They are not pets, thats not to say you don't care for them but its different. Thank the Lord for the wisdom to understand. 😊❤❤
I have watched the your channel from the very beginning and I live in NJ and I’ve enjoyed learning all these new things about life on your property in Texas. I also love watching the children mature and how you show them how to help you do the chores. You have a beautiful family. Maverick was born the same day and year and time that my granddaughter was born.❤️
Maverick is so adorable! I agree about chickens being livestock.
😂❤
Heard Granger on the twister this morning 😊
We have 27 chickens and went thru joining new ones, they squabbled and still do now and then but not much we can do. I love watching Maverick, he's all boy with his love of tractors and tools!!
love the chaos!! lol all of your kids and animals are soo cute and you guys are great parents!
You guys are doing great!!! Love seeing you use your land to feed your family!! My husband and i are wanting to sell our house to buy a bigger property to do that same!!!! Love you guys!!!! ❤❤❤
👍❤ I love chickens and this was so fun to watch! I hope the heated water works in your greenhouse. Blessings from Northern California🇺🇸
Awesome Country Chaos.... in the best way. I'm here in the Upper Great Lakes of MI, and have horses. That same stock tank de-icer keeps my 150 gal tank from freezing, so my guess is it'll warm that up, no prob. 😉Thanks for sharing another fun video of the Smiths! God Bless.
Love how Mavy tried to hold Diamond, the chicken! So cute! 🥰🤗🐔 Great job to Lincoln for holding a chicken for the first time! So funny that Mavy was trying to climb the chicken ladder and Amber was telling him to get down! 😆💖
Maybe “just” livestock is a little harsh… but in the end they are livestock! 😊
Goodness Maverick is a go getter!! 😅😅 And talking so big!
♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏
Every time you show the chickens makes me want to get some myself. Maybe 6 and a good pen with high roosts in case of wild animals. And the greenhouse is what I've been wanting to do for years, but never got around to it or the budget. I use to have a raised bed garden I got hundreds of tomatoes and squash out of. But, with back issues we dozed it flat a couple years ago....I miss it and the time spent in it. Might be in the mix to make another one, smaller, and a greenhouse to raise the little plants. You got me wanting chickens and a garden and greenhouse now. You make it look so easy. Anyway, tale care and those chickens will acclimate soon.
The Salmon Faverolles tend to be skittish but will come around with age! I have four myself. Granger loving your greenhouse experiment.
I used last year a large aquarium heater into my 55 gallon water drum for heat. It worked great
Love your chickens
I thought y'all were waiting 1 to 2 weeks to put them all together... y'all fast tracked it to 3 days! They would've been fine i promise in there without the heat... but I understand the desire to try it early! NOTHING WRONG WITH IT!
Granger hope the trash can idea works. Gee y'alls chickens at least look healthy and that is a nice chicken coop. Enjoyed and have a wonderful week ahead. Love y'all
You need a high/low thermometer to tell you exactly how low it gets in the greenhouse overnight.
I don't think the water is gonna warm the greenhouse, but I hope I'm wrong and I hope it works!
Please do an update on the water experiment!
Actually it will work. When the water heats up it’s like walking into a sauna, it’s warm and it’s just water heated up
@@cindydowning5600 AWESOME! Perfect then! Thanks!
“The chickens aren’t pets, so why not think of them as livestock”, said the city girl who knows zip about chickens or livestock.😊
@TheSmiths Try painting some rocks or concrete blocks black and put them in the greenhouse. Marty Raines did that for a greenhouse in Alaska to keep it from freezing in the winter.
I'm curious, how do rocks or blocks painted black keep the temperature inside a greenhouse from freezing?
@@bowed305 They retain the heat of the day and will radiate it at night to keep the area warmer. Have you haver stood next to a concrete or brick wall at night after a hot day. You can feel the heat.
@@lleet21t56 Ah, okay, that makes sense.
Smart IDEA on the water in the greenhouse GRANGER yee YEE Jesus is Lord
Granger and Amber, really enjoyed your video! I'm 58 and never have held a chicken. Maverick is just too cute and so precious! Lincoln sure is brave after holding the chicken. Love y'all and God Bless You!❤️
❤
0:43 I excited i lub it
I enjoyed watching your video 😊
All I have to say about the chickens... Genesis 1:26 says: Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
So, we have dominion, which means control, or sovereignty, over those chickens. Like you said, you do your best and that's the best you can do.
Those look like Easter Eggers. My parents had some and they were never as tame as our austorlorps and Rhode island reds.
Just a thought, terra-cotta pot may retain heat better than metal.
Don't use the metal can. It won't hold your water. BTW ❤❤❤😊❤❤❤
Yep, they're just livestock. We do the best we can to care for them, like we should for all forms of God's creation, but ultimately, they are just part of the temporary nature of all things on earth. Thanks for the video. This was fun!
Totally agree on livestock with your conversation about the chickens. I grew up in the country and people who don’t just don’t get it. We raised cows for beef
Love this video!
Granger you had me laughing at your convo with the chickens about eating grass 😂🐓🐔. Another fun Smith family video. The real MVP is Amber for all the times it was just her managing the chaos 💜 Mav is a very busy little boy and so inquisitive. He certainly has brought so many of us a great amount of joy! Lincoln and his bling made me smile as I recall different fads that my children went through. My son was an athlete and the fade with designs hair cuts. Those young men were so creative back in 1995 using the big ole clippers. Hello to London 👋 End note: I think your animals live a very wonderful life.
Chickens are chickens and they will establish a pecking order with each other and new ones. As long as you don’t have roosters….hens usually do not fight to the death. A few pecks they will survive.

😂
So,sorry to say look up at the cloud seeding., it’s a stream in the sky
I hope your greenhouse experiment worked.
❤❤❤✝️
Look into a chinese diesel heater for that greenhouse... Your troubles will be over.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Next time you have new chickens. Seperare borh groups. Halfcwith the new and half with the old.
Does the Bible tell you, ITS JUST LIVESTOCK. It appears your more concerned with plants then your just livestock
I just love animals. So I hate to see them get hurt or suffer.
Real life! 😅😅
Nooo Lincoln getting soft!😢
Yea smiths
Chickens = Chaos 😂
And yes chickens are livestock at least mine are
Just Livestock? They are sentient beings😢
you are correct, Granger at the end of the day it IS livestock. But when you have a wife and kids that are animal lovers it complicates things.....I watch another farmer Doss farms and it seems as there are trolls and hayers on any channel.... you do what you feel is best for your anmals
Yes they are just livestock. My parents use to kill two chickens every Sunday for dinner. You should not become attached. This is like a hobby for you guys, which is great for family bonding.l can still buy eggs for $3 a dozen. But l bet yours taste better.

So close.
People that are complaining about the chickens being cold are people that dont have farm animals. God took care of those birds when he gave them down feathers. How do they think the lil finches, juncos cardinals owls hawks survive in the wild?? These complainers are clueless.
Your friend is right. They are just livestock. You treat the animals as well as you can but their not humans.
