Of these radios, I agree 100% with the number 1. I have an Anytone 6666, it's an excellent radio. I do sometimes kick myself in the rear for not spending a bit more on a Stryker, but in a way I wish I'd have spent even more and got an Icom 7100 and mars modded it too - but that's not an export radio. I really don't like the analog meters on some of these, or the 1970's styling. The Stryker kind of has that 50's chrome grill vibe to it ... anyway, the Anytone is a good radio too. Especially hooked up to the Stryker whip I'm running. The Anytone 5555N (not even close to the regular 5555 which I've heard good things about) is a really good radio for a more compact installation. Wish you would have wrapped the 3 "same but different wattage" into 1, and added 2 more radios - whatever your choices may be.
Hey Guy , I have a few friends that are using the Anytone 6666 and they're a good sounding radio . At the time I made this video , I wasn't too familiar with the Anytone 6666 . back in the 1990s the top export radios were the Galaxy 99v, and the original 1st Gen. RCI2950 for mobiles. Base radios were the Galaxy Saturn, Saturn Turbo, or the RCI 2990. Forgot the Uniden HR-2510 mobile.

Ok. If emergency comms are in the thought process, how many watts do you need to not be buried in the background chatter and make the trip consistently within 100 miles? Actually 50 to 75 is more realistically critical. I know such a question is pretty problematic but there are some big talkers here that have a darn good idea of wattts vs miles on a daily average using various antennas and base vs mobile. I don't want to drop a penny or a dime more than I have to for enhanced and reliable comms covering a 100 air mile radius. Also battery drain is a consideration under emergency power scenarios. I know not all radios are as hungry as others.
In all honesty , the amount of wattage needed to cover the distance you mentioned , largely depends on the location that you're trying to transmit from . Trying to transmit from a flat area like the midwest , or near a large body of water will require less power than trying to transmit from an area with a lot of hills , or worse yet .... mountains . And older equipment would probably eat more emergency juice that the newer surface mounted stuff .
@@RaccoonsRadioRanch Oh yeah I know the usual rule of thumb in regards to terrain and such. It's just that big time talkers usually get a gut instinct for averages in their area. I heard of an emergency call on FRS that was received about 70 miles away in mountains. My guess was tropospheric ducting at such low power and frequencies.
@@johnnorman7708 Skip land will make a big radio outta the small ones and a small radio outta the big ones. Where would one go to purchase a non-exported, export radio? Also, I am guessing the upcoming rule change to allow fm to cb as well is the reason for the current shortages of popular models???
You can find online stores that sell RCIs , Galaxys , Strykers and other brands of export radios all over the internet . As for the equipment shortage , it began before the announcement of the Part 95 change . I think people are buying radio equipment for other reasons .
@@notsure7874, I know about the chip shortage , but it doesn't have much of an effect on me because I tend to buy older equipment anyway . Jerry , I apologize ... I miss read your question . I've only just recently started hearing a couple of Anytone 6666's in the area since this video had been made . They're not bad sounding radios at all , even with their stock mics they sound good .
Honestly , your choice of good places to buy radio equipment varies from person to person . Which is usually based on the experiences they had buying through those places in the past , or the experiences of what someone they knew had with those places . But personally , I like to buy my equipment from a place called Bells CB . Their stuff is good quality , they're honest and good to deal with . They have good radio techs , and they're always quick to answer any questions you might have . You can check them out here : www.bellscb.com/
Wow , that's a good looking radio . I haven't heard one yet , but I look forward to hearing one of those . Knowing Rangers reputation , I'm sure it has no problem running with the big dogs . ;)
So how many of the radios have a button only ( no soldering / jumping / cutting ) etc to get the channel expansion ? I know the Anytone 6666 is a button only type.
I've always been more interested in radio performance , than what I have to do to get it converted . I'm not saying that the Anytone is a bad radio . Because I have a few friends that use them and they sound good . But I don't mind "soldering/jumping/ or cutting" for a radio that might perform better .

Hi Reggie , there's a link to a few of these radios in the description area below the video . If the radio you're interested in is one of those , you can just click that link to go buy one .
I've been into CB Radio for over 33 years , and to be honest . In all that time , sadly ... I've never owned a Connex radio , and I don't know anyone else that's owned one before either . I've heard them in skip land . But other than that , that's about all I know about Connex equipment . Maybe I should look into buying one and check them out . 😉
I LOVE the older Ranger equipment , I don't think their older stuff can be beat . But ... like it or not , their newer stuff doesn't compare to their older stuff . I always know when someone is using a new Ranger on Sideband because they're always slightly off frequency . Even though they say they're dead center ... they're still off , and it's very noticeable everyone on the channel . So believe it or not ... the Stryker 955 out preforms the newer Rangers on Sideband. , and for that it's above ANY newer Ranger equipment on this list . Maybe Ranger should up their game and stop riding on their reputation ... if they did , they'd be ranking higher in the list . It's not like I'm not using or listening to this equipment . I'm on it all the time and I know what I see , and what I hear out there .
CB radio is 26.965mhz - 27.405mhz ..... and 10 meters is a Ham band that covers 28.000mhz - 29.700mhz . So yes there's a difference between the two . Some CB'ers like to buy these radios and have them converted so they can use them on the CB band (11 meters) ... and some Ham operators buy them to use them as they're intended to be used . Either way you look at it , this list is good information for which ever way the buyer wants to use the radio .
Check with Luke Miller at bbi amps, he is on TH-cam and publishes his phone number, he can tell you who in your area to call, he makes and repairs amps but knows the good cb repair tech's
The Texas Ranger TR-696F is both a CB , and discontinued ... and the Galaxy DX-2574 is also a CB radio . This video is about the top 10 current Export Radio's that are still being made ... not CB radio's , or discontinued equipment . Not that those are bad radios , they're just not in this category .
@@RaccoonsRadioRanch beat me to the question. My Galaxy Saturn turbo is by far the best I've ever seen or heard (the original version not the newer one).

I am so confused. Are there any simple, straight forward, easy to understand video's that could possibly clear up the all the oodles of information surrounding cb radio's. My God there seems to be a lot to consider. So many names. Some considered cb's. Some considered ham radios. Some mobile. Some handheld. Some considered base stations. Then there is the confusion of side bands and FM and what it means and how THEY are useful as well which is something else I don't really understand at all. Then there is 10m, 11m and the like. Something else I don't really understand. And then you throw in export radios that are less restrictive and easier to modify if you don't care about the so-called 'rules' or FCC. I am so lost. Rick , I have a G5RV , but I'm not currently using it . I've been using a Carolina Windom for my HF work , along with my LDG Z-11 Pro antenna tuner . I also have a J Pole made out of copper piping that I use for my 2 meter work . As far as 11 meters goes though , I just use an Imax 2000 for that . But I do have a Maco V 5/8s antenna that I'd like to get switched out with the Imax . I don't have any Beam antennas up anymore , they're usually too big for the area that my tower sits in because my neighbor has a giant black oak that's sitting about 14 feet away from it . And you've gotta watch out for those pacemakers , I know a few people that have one . I even had a friend that had one , and he was stung by a bee . It somehow messed with his pacemaker , and he died ... those things can be really touchy .
Great video 👍👍
Thanks Keith ... and thank you for watching the video .
So I regret not knowing about it sooner . As for clumping the 3 RCI radios together , you're right about that too . It was an after thought that I had about a week or so after I uploaded that video to TH-cam . Thanks for watching the video .

I'm surprised a Connex hasn't made the list. I just picked up a Connex CX36 HPF from Mister Big Time in Maryland and that radio rocks, Wilson 1000 trucker antenna and a Astatic mic, most guys say shes getting out nicely, matter of time till i put my 200 Watt linear to it.
It's my own fault really . There aren't many people in my area (if any) using any of the Connex radios . So being that I'm not very familiar with them , I overlooked them . I've had a few people point that out , and I've been researching them since this video was made . When the time comes that I make a new list ... Connex will be included.
back in the 1990s the top export radios were the Galaxy 99v, and the original 1st Gen. RCI2950 for mobiles. Base radios were the Galaxy Saturn, Saturn Turbo, or the RCI 2990. Forgot the Uniden HR-2510 mobile.
I was on the radio back then , I remember . I made a video showing 10 great vintage Export Radios ... this is the link to it : th-cam.com/video/QqI0x4j9TlM/w-d-xo.html
I'd like to know where get a new 25 watt rci 2950 that comes with a trusted seller that has that chip pcb installed or in the box no extra fees!
So its on 10,11,&12meters no strings attached" they are a $250 radio .
And the clarifier is unlocked .
I always liked the old 2950"s in 1994 bought it put on 11 meters fast .
Now a days I can operate on all
them bands so all radios work for me.
Great video keep up the good work.
The new RCI 2950's are not the same as the older ones were . But I did just see an older 2950 on ebay that's still in the box and has all of it's original accessories with it .
Been running strykers for awhile now. Good radios. Out of all the radios on my bench they have the best recieve. And yes, there alot of radios on my bench.

I still have an RCI Ranger RG-99 from early 2000s.
I recently bought a NOS RCI-2950 . I've always liked the Ranger radios .
@@RaccoonsRadioRanch I haven't used it in years. I bought a President McKinley for the RF Power adjustment to use with an amp. I didn't want to open up the RG-99 and fiddle with the internals.

I got Anytone Smart , tiny thin radio , it cover 28MHz as well as normal American 27MHz CB frequencies. I got it because it was only thin CB I could get at that time. it was around $60 at Amazon back in 2019. I use it to listen to CB frequency. some TX. 27MHz CB are much better thing to have on Highway than Amateur Radio. AG6JU
This is an older video . Since I made this video , I've had some experience with some Anytone radios ... and they make some really good equipment . I also agree that when traveling , a CB radio is a much better radio to have with you than a Ham radio is .

How do you turn up the watts on a President Andy2 USA? Thanks for sharing 🍸
To be honest Casey , I've never done it ... so I don't know . But I'm sure there's a TH-cam someplace that could show you . But personally I always leave my radios at their factory settings and never mess with "Twisting" things inside the , Because I've seen way too many people burn their radios up doing stuff like that over the years .
@@RaccoonsRadioRanch I know, my Andy2 only puts out 3 watts. And frankly I want my 4 watt allowance 🤣 I found the hidden menu combination on TH-cam, and was able to boost my watts up to 5.2 and was also able to F with my modulation / amplitude . It was just enough to get to my buddies base station ,and that was the goal. I'm on far south in town he is far north. My sloped dipole was the key to it all...... i could only hear him barely with my wilson5000. My dipole ,I hear everyone great, just couldn't Sent to them...til now.lol, I'm getting a rm kl 203p amplifier for home only.
I can run up to 4400 pep watts and holler for dx and get no answer but run 200 pep and make connections all day long. Weird how that works.

@@RaccoonsRadioRanch There is a chip shortage, and has been for a long time. You can still find them, but they're not everywhere like they used to be.

We’re is the best place to buy the RCI ?
Honestly , your choice of good places to buy radio equipment varies from person to person . Which is usually based on the experiences they had buying through those places in the past , or the experiences of what someone they knew had with those places . But personally , I like to buy my equipment from a place called Bells CB . Their stuff is good quality , they're honest and good to deal with . They have good radio techs , and they're always quick to answer any questions you might have . You can check them out here : www.bellscb.com/

Hi Reggie , there's a link to a few of these radios in the description area below the video . If the radio you're interested in is one of those , you can just click that link to go buy one .
Kinda surprised no Connex radios made the list.
Really a striker above a ranger..... thats funny lmao
I have a connex
Nice !! Honestly , I've never owned a Connex , but a lot of people have told me that they make really good radios .

isnt 10 meter different than CB?
CB radio is 26.965mhz - 27.405mhz ..... and 10 meters is a Ham band that covers 28.000mhz - 29.700mhz . So yes there's a difference between the two . Some CB'ers like to buy these radios and have them converted so they can use them on the CB band (11 meters) ... and some Ham operators buy them to use them as they're intended to be used . Either way you look at it , this list is good information for which ever way the buyer wants to use the radio .
i'm not infavour of long introductory scene. They should last only about 4 seconds, if there is one at all.
This was one of my first videos , the older ones are like that ... the newer ones are not .

Signed~confused asf! I don't mind spending the money but I'd like something VERY powerful and something that's easy to modify. Something that I can learn and grow on as well would be nice or more specifically a cb that has all the other options I may want when I understand them a little better (like ssb and fm). Oh and a plain and simple roger's beep is a must have too. You seem to be an authority so any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated. I DO love the look of the Galaxy's and Strykers though. Always have. But there are so much out there and so many options to consider Help! :)
