  • I frequently get asked about the 40mm launchers that I use on some of my guns, so I put together this video explaining how 40mm launchers work, what they do, and who they are good for. I also go into detail on three different launcher systems.

    one thing we can all agree is that m4 with a grenade launcher looks way more badass than the orange nerf assault rifle with the missile

    This is a nice video, and I fully agree with everything that has been said. I owe myself a M203, EGLM and AG36. I confirm the very well designed AG36, easy to load. Mine is a ARES, and I don't have problem of a shell being stuck. Also I use Madbull shells.
    I confirm the EGLM issue when closing sometimes, the lips don't align properly and you don't close it easily. My EGLM is a VFC, I guess yours too because these are the only ones that flips.
    About the M203, one issue you can have is that the front sling mount could stuck between the button of the M203 used to open it, therfore blocking it. If your sling attach can be put elsewhere no problem, but if you use a M4A1 without rails like I do, that can be an issue. In that case, you should go for an attachment system of your sling at the back of the gun.
    Finally, the most important are indeed the shells. I also recommend the ones for paintball that are CO2 ready like the Madbull PB4, or S-thunder Shoker grenades. Why ? Because they are the ones that shoot at the longest range you can, thanks to CO2. They are the only ones to be "effective" outside to clean a bunker without going to close, and of course, they are good for indoors. Also, they are fast to refill with BBs and you put tape on the tip.
    I recommend light BBs, 0.12g are great. Finally, you can put water + BBs. There's a video around of a guy testing that.

    the problem I have with firing nerf related projectiles is well, a lot of milsim ops only recognize a kill with a bb. Using nerf stuff is looked down upon by Milsim players as "backyard" play, not that there is anything wrong with that.
    I'm a grenadier for my teams 1st squad, 1st Fireteam, we are milsim based and frequent Blacksheep Milsim event. My loadout is a H&K by Umarex (VFC) G36k, with an AG36 40mm Grenade launcher, The applications for that launcher go a bit farther than you let it. It can be a force multiplier in it's own right. Not to mention, if your squad is buried behind cover and can't move, launching 200 or so bb's toward the enemy usually lands a few kills, and adds to decrease enemy morale, sometimes making them fall back.

    • @booliganshootingsports
      @booliganshootingsports  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Rhyx I've seen the opposite. Many hardcore milsim ops I've seen LOVE foam rounds for radius kills or to disable vehicles. I've personally started running PMOG chalk filled rounds in many of my launchers religiously.

    • @TheRhyx
      @TheRhyx 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Booligan Airsoft I understand that some milsim games allow that and have rules for that, I'm just saying I'm not a fan of that as it doesn't really have that realistic effect. Imagining a nerf explosion opens players up to another form of dishonesty on another level unless there is a game controller at every corner of the battlefield. There are airsoft devices that simiulate the realism a lot better, take for instance the line of grenades (40mm launchable and hand thrown alike) made my Tanginn simulate explosions with bb's a lot better than using nerf "bombs". As a grenadier I use them a lot at milsim games and they have very high remarks among milsim players in my area. I only have participated in Ops ran by Blacksheep Milsim for this reason. Blacksheep Milsim is very hardcore in it's own right, It is orgranized across many states across the nation, a majority of the games using Joint training grounds for the military, the event is organized by a retired infantry major for the US Army and he does one hell of a job. I highly recommend attending one if you haven't, he pushes airsoft milsim to a level that is just pure awesome.

    • @booliganshootingsports
      @booliganshootingsports  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True, however, the Taginn rounds are illegal in the US. Illegal to sell, transport, and store. They're working on making them legal, but for now, they're not, so we have to make do with what's currently available and legal. Which is why I really like the PMOG rounds. Safe, legal, and available in chalk or exploding chalk configurations.

    • @TheRhyx
      @TheRhyx 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Booligan Airsoft They are legal, I just purchased a resupply from airsplat.com, I live in Wyoming. I use the Archangel rounds at Operation Blacksheep. If they were illegal, the President of Blacksheep would not have allowed their use. I've been using them for a few months now I think, maybe they were at one point, but I haven't heard of them being illegal in the US until just now when you posted that they were. Maybe they are only illegal in certain states? Not sure. However, could you maybe provide a link stated their legality in the US so I can maybe bring this up with my fellow Milsimmers so we don't get in trouble for using them? Also, not sure if your familiar with Blacksheep, but I highly recommend checking them out at Blacksheepmilsim.com, and an edit to this, I see what your saying about the legality of them in the US, but it's more so a customs thing right now, Airsplat however does have the license to sell them.

    Personally, I would rather have a stand alone launcher or GLM launcher. I really like the Ultra Force PGL (Pistol Grenade Launcher) and the S-Thunder Long Barrel Grenade Launcher Pistol for stand alones. For GLMs, I would like to have an ICS 190 GLM. I really like special weapons, especially using a unique weapon as a primary weapon. The ability to either shoot tons of rubber or foam balls, tons of BBs, or one big fat slug and tons of different shells is just one major cool factor for me. I really like 40mm launchers, even though I have never owned, touched, or even fired one. I just love them and I really hate under barrel launchers. They are just very unrealistic and impractical. Besides, who needs to spend $100 on an under barrel, single shot launcher when you could get a six shot revolving GLM for just $25 more? Idk, but what I DO know that GLs are weapons that were designed specifically for me. That, and sniper rifles.

      Paul Chadbourne Most of the time, no. The 40 mm shell is basically a giant shotgun shell. You can use them to shoot foam rounds though for areas kills, and there are some companies that make exploding foam projectiles with a small pyrotechnic charge and loaded with bbs or chalk dust.

      I guess it all depends on how much you are willing to pay for stability, consistency and the ability for the target to actually identify that a AOE projectile has been fired. Personally if im going to take a bulky 40mm with me i want to use the most efficient ordinance.

      We've never had issues with people ID'ing that they've been AOE'd out with a 10' kill radius. Same as building and vehicle kills. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of the TAG shells, but they are impressively expensive for what they are. The Milsim Labs rounds are incredibly stable and consistent, with the right round and the right launcher, I'm seeing 200+' vehicle accurate fire. Plus, the round costs all of $2 or so, so I don't feel bad if I never get it back.

      The Milsim rounds break down to $5.66 per round and the TAGs are $5.40 a round. Keeping in mind that the Milsim rounds are reusable but the TAG rounds mark their target and fire 95 yards rather than 31 yards. This is a significant difference.

    I sold my grenade launcher, it's not a useful thing, dnt even bother using it at range, at close range, you can well just shoot them because you still need to hit them regardless with the BBs in most of the grenade cases, if you use it in CQB, the extra weight is simply not worth it.

      Personally, I pretty much never run a grenade launcher to shoot BBs. I use them almost exclusively to shoot foam projectiles.

      non of any of the airsoft sites around me are big enough to actually get any use out of em, most of the people wouldn't even know what they do and that they're out... Ah the joys of playing airsoft in ireland..
