KF4 for your next magic-only project would be some undertaking. I cleared it for the first time a few months ago and genuinely couldn't say if it's possible. Think you have to whack the last boss three times with your sword, at least, but maybe there are other methods...
Getting through the mines in order to get the first spell in KF4.. i think i've done it without hitting anything before when attempting to learn speed strats but my memory is foggy. Thanks man.

12:16 On my first King's Filed run, I didn't find the second dragon stone until nearly the end of the game (I had to look it up because, ironically, I never looked down outside the pirate's cave) and so the Seath doors were closed for most of the game. I'm a bit salty I never knew about that fountain! Great work with the magic-only run!

I found this video really cool as a showcase for spells, ya don’t get to see many of the spells when most people play the game, just wind cutter and fireball.
@@BlinJe I always assumed they went around eating handfuls of gravel, then it collects in your belly. That's where the magic happens, the pebbles come together as one and shooting out! Reminds me of that nose/tracking device scene in the original "Total Recall" but with your stomach and mouth
I played this game. I've beat it once. And the minute I saw the dinosaurs in the Cave of the Earth Soul, my PTSD for that section was immediate. They were far worse than any other trap or puzzle in the game. If only I had known the joy of the upgraded Fire spell 😢
Had my first encounter with this game playing an emulator on a raspberry pie while on a deployment where I had no internet access. I had played souls games before but it felt so special to play this game with no prior knowledge of it or having internet access. I never beat it but I really do love this game.
You can also farm Spider sword from grey Godzilla dinos for early mana regen. Best place near tree with fruit - just go back to corridor 15 meters and monster will respawn. Drops good money too. Took me about 30 minutes of farm.
@@BlinJe Yeah. Don't remember now, but you probably need to farm only the big boss dino. But farming with only magic, I can imagine, can be tiresome task.
The stone spell is such comedy gold, no flair no dramatics just fastball a fuckin boulder into someone, I can't help but go into a giggling fit everytime i see it 😂😂
Indeed, this video is dank. I have spent a fair amount of time playing through every few years for the nostalgia. It came out at the perfect time and I somehow picked it up off the shelf of a tiny local game shop. I have always favor the overkill method of blasting magic and melee at the start of every fight. Front loaded damage but also not missing out on casting to skill up. My understanding is total damage is how your strength stat increases and it is probably the same for magic power. Never tried pumping one more than the other since by the end you one-shot everything. Oh and I always set Select button to cast heal or eat healing herb. Overpowered but I always wish this game had one more area... one more challenge. Your narration reminds me of the Ahoy channel guy.
I watched a lot of Ahoy before making this tbh hahah! Thanks man, that's a big compliment. Not really sure what you mean by total damage but yeah if you just focus on one it becomes more powerful. However the problem with nearly every KF game is, like you say, being OP by the end.. seems inevitable.
@@BlinJe Total damage done. So the more grinding the more levels. Similar but different from total enemies killed. Damage done to enemies raises your strength or int. I guess one could grind the demon guys at the end and buy more Verdite at the end to see how far it could go. May be able to drop a single Windcutter to down dragon lol
so its just something i thought of while watching but Seath is the good dragon in this story that gives the player many of the best resources to kill the dark dragon, including an armor set. but what would be the strongest material to make armor out of? something even a dragon would have trouble destroying? dragon scales. and if there are only two dragons of equal strength it would be tough to imagine seath being able to tear off enough scales from the evil dragon to create armor with. Seath the scaleless is a dragon that betrayed the other dragons (so from humanities pov he is a good dragon helping us defeat the evil dragons). i love fromsoft

I just recently played through King‘s Field (JP) and King's Field for the first time after seeing Majuular's incredible video on the series. They still hold up very well, I would suggest grabbing an emulator and giving them a go. There is really something special about them, especially if you're already a fan of From Soft's other games.
I had never seen this game before. Thanks for introducing me! Although I have to say it looks awful. But mostly due to technical limitations. It has a charm to it.
Its predecessor came out in ‘94. Launcch year for ps1 in Japan. That game did everything in 3D polygons, almost no sprites at all. Which was pretty much unheard of back then!

I didn't know you could cheese Necron like that. Necron is harder than Orenstein and Smough. Two things... You can get the moonlight sword. Also, if you haven't played them before, look for Sword of Moonlight. There's like 6 fanmade King's Field games and at least 4 of them are really good.

I know this vid is 3 years old but I just wanna say if you use the truth mirror or whatever it's called on the rocking chair, it shows she's still there. On one hand, spooky invisible ghost lady. On the other hand, probably just made her invisible for programming reasons instead of deloading her entirely. Kinda surprised you went through the effort to move the npc blocking the path but didn't keep attacking to kill them outright.
I didn't wanna murder the woman! also - I disagree. It's more plausible to me that they wanted a ghost lady but forgot to remove the entity entirely/ the truth mirror still working is an oversight.

A fun fact about King's Field 2 is that you can obtain the Moonlight Sword by walking towards Guyra until you clip through him.

Even in the age of ancients, Fromsoft made sure you can skip a major aspect of the combat and still pull through!
