    This is so far the best review about this product. I am now convinced to buy this one instead of the standard nylons filter. Thank you so much!

      Thank you, Kuya. I've actually tried about four nylon double-layered pop filters and none of them even come close to the Stedman. Glad I could be of help.

    Loved the flame test! It can't get any better than that for evidence and showing us what it looks like in Audacity as well with the spikes where the plosives occur. Very informative. Thank you!

    Is the stedman sturdy enough to play badminton with?

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a hope, the gooseneck will definitely bend while executing a badminton 'smash' up close to the net, the mesh could be left with a dent, again, when smashing a shuttlecock and I can confirm that the Stedman mesh pop filter does not have the circumference for consistent hitting. I found I was missing too many shots and losing too many games with the Stedman so I bought a Yonex 'MusclePower' racket instead ;)

    Great review and would like to buy... but.... I'm now using an Elgato Mic Arm (looks like yours) and wondering how the heck to mount it. How did you get your Stedman clamp to attach to this thick mic arm?

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It attaches to the think tubular arm that goes from the thick arm to the mic.

    Do you know that stadman changes the direction of the wind? If you blow thru it and put your hand a bit lower yoll see what i`m talking about) Stadman is a nice pop filter and it has a little secret )))

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I am familiar with the redirection of downward air. I cover that in my latest review of it here: th-cam.com/video/2uhBaTXTjkY/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks for the video! They have the exact same PS101 but with rubber edging. Is that just for looks or might there be any difference in sound at all? I'm considering one of these or the XL version.

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The XL version with rubber surround is just over 6 inches in diameter, the other one is about 4.5 so a bit smaller. That's the only difference.

    I don't think the effective 'plosive filtering difference between the mesh and nylon type is worth the huge price difference for the casual home user.
    The Stedman is almost $130 AUD whereas the nylon type is $10 AUD (even as low as $8 AUD).
    Alternative to the Stedman is the Soundart [metal] Mesh filter for $30 AUD

  • @cresshead

    just be SURE to have the right way round..
    do that blow test...
    as one side will deflect MUCH better than the other.

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, it makes absolutely no difference, and I tried it to confirm. The Steadman logo is at the front, so you would probably put it that way anyway, but the grills go down, regardless of which way you turn it, if you think about it from a scientific point of view, this is fairly obvious. Again, I tried it and it made zero difference because the grates go down whichever way is turned.

    • @cresshead
      @cresshead ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tecraven on my SE version it's VERY different.. one side works really well the other lets wind thru.. i guess they patented the grill structure on steadman?

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cresshead Not sure about the patent thing. But it's like a cheese grater with slats that go down, and if you turn it around the slats still go down, they just start 2mm or so higher due to the rows hence makes no difference. I imagine if anybody else does a similar design it might differ somewhat.

    • @cresshead
      @cresshead ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tecraven well i have the SE version i don't know the tech details but blowing one side vs the other there is a difference in wind transfer toward the microphone capsule it 100% works properly 1 side vs the other which you can feel the wind on your hand conversly.

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cresshead On mine when you blow into it the wind is forced downwards out the other side, if you turn it around, same. So Stedman is better ;)

    How come the transient spikes on the PS101 waveform portion are all lower on the bottom than the top?

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are lower on the previous Samson one also. Not sure to be honest. The first one is also a little like that, only you can't see it as spikes go just off image in both directions.

    I have a question I have the pop filter but it’s hard to connect it to the psa1 boom arm. Do you have any tips on how to connect it

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David. Your boom arm has rectangular tubing and I've only ever connected my Stedman pop filter to a circular mic stand. Ping Stedman a quick email via their site and explain to them, I'm sure they will have an answer. Sorry I can't be more help.

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidarmstrong8480 Hi David. Not sure, pop Stedman and email and ask what the solution is for this. I just assumed the Stedman would attached to a rectangular boom arm.

      I called them thank you very much there’s a adapter that I can actually use specifically for the rectangle shaped boom arms
