For some time I have wanted to replace the steering wheel wrap that was on my 1999 4Runner. It was terrible to look at, sticky in the summertime, and left a gooey residue on your fingers when you got out of the car. So I said enough!
In this video I walk through the replacement process. From taking off the original, replacing it with the East Detailing wrap I purchased and the tips I learned along the way.

Is it possible you were supposed to put the new wrap over the old to avoid the looseness?

Yes that is very possible. The clearances between the spokes and the center of the steering wheel might be very tight if the original is not removed. Mine was just so torn up that I did not want it on the wheel anymore.

You are suppose to. his video did help me tho. You need to sand the rough or torn spot I wrapped mine with black tape if not it will show thru.

Very nice work, which takes patience, focus, and persistence. I especially appreciate the tip about overlapping the opposing edges.

Yes! If I were to do the job over again I would definitely take more time to make sure all the material overlapped.
