    Classy knife. SMKW really seems to be stepping up their quality and doing a great job with these knives. Thanks for sharing.

    I love the abalone scales, very neat looking knife! I only have a peanut in abalone but it is one of my favorites. Great overview and comparison with Rough Ryder brand, thanks as always 👍

    Pretty little things! Probably not something I’ll collect, but really nice to see them. There should always be a Barlow in any series!

    That is really cool; it's beautiful. I love abalone. I really should buy one, or two, or three ( they'd be great to give as gifts; I like giving knives away as much as I like having therm). Thanks for the video; it's helpful, because for the price, I assumed it was fake abalone.

    I love the abalone. It would look great on a 5 inch knife.

    Hello Tobias. Very nice piece of abalone but i still like the canoe better. All the best.

    Excellent review Tobias. I agree about what you said ref the costs and the fact that you won't see as nice an abalone handle on a $25-$30 knife anywhere else. I have GEC's, Case knives, Bear & Son all in real abalone and old RR's, Frost, in fake abalone and the Queen City's abalone covers are up there with the best of them

      Definitely, a pinched bolster and swedge on the blade are nice but I'd rather have a better quality abalone any day!

    Cute little knives! The only abalone knife I have is that Primble sunfish, but it's starting to grow on me fast. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    Thanks for the comparison. I figured they were Rough Ryder knives with better covers. I really like those cub knives. Very substantial blade for a little knife. I Managed to put a scar on my left thumb with one when I violated the "never cut towards yourself" rule.

    To your post script Tobias your choices are much better, especially the choice of the Barlow.
    Seems smkw are sticking to a bland one size fits no-one and it doesn't matter what trade name it's the same generic collection pattern throughout. Shame Queens knives look how they do compared to what was. Unfortunately I just see a varient of rough rider by smkw. Thankyou hope my feedback helps.

    I agree, would be tough to collect the entire collection sans the lady leg, so you're probably better of sticking where you are!

    I really like the look of the abalone... but for some reason I'm not actually sure I'd want it on a knife! Perhaps I'm just strange.

  • @triumphant39
    @triumphant39 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's worthy to note that the queen city branded one has a much better grind, and better work on the bolsters, although I'm sure it varies from knife to knife on the RR.

  • @gammonsandwich1756
    @gammonsandwich1756 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I actually think I prefer the lack of swedge and plainer bolster on the Queen. When you've got a fancy handle like that, doing too much to the rest of the knife can make it look too fussy in my opinion.

    Tobias, Question what did SMKW, say about the RR Kamp King cap lefter ?

    • @KnifeChatswithTobias
      @KnifeChatswithTobias  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They passed it along to the powers that be and will look into it. I've got an update on the video coming soon. Apparently more than one person has said it really depends on the bottle.

    Just picked up this little beetle-- doesn't strike me as much of a using knife, not a great blade profile or grind for actual cutting, maybe a gent's micro ? It is cute though.

    They need to make abalone 4 or 5 inch toothpick.

    • @KnifeChatswithTobias

      It would be nice but also expensive!

    • @forrestslrHankd

      Yeah a 5 inch toothpick would need some large pieces of abalone.
