- ah, finally got it after a while.
T99 plays slightly slower than PPT (... including retrying a run, which takes so long), and it was quite annoying to grind for a fast marathon. choked quite a lot of runs in the last 30 lines because of the speed + switching from 6-3 to 9-0 stack at the end.
even then, i still feel like i can improve it. the absolute best time i can hit should be around 2:15, but i'm aiming for sub 2:18 first, as the end can be really difficult to execute. this isn't even about a 40-line sprint anymore, but about a 150-lines marathon sprint that takes ages to retry. but i'll keep this time for now!

2:10 so close to a perfect clear
You’ve done more lines in 2 minutes than I have in all the time I’ve spent playing tetris
It took me more to clear 40 lines then what took her to clear 150 lines
I always wonder how these godly tetris players have the brain power to even do this
DAS, Finesse, and lots of practice.
It's mostly accuracy. Many Tetris players can think much faster than they play.

What kind of controller would you use to go this fast? I highly doubt it's joy cons or a pro controller, it's just too fast gameplay for those controllers to handle. Is it a keyboard or a special controller?

@@bananya6020 Oh well if I'm correct, he actually did use Joycons. Many very fast players just use normal Joycons to play. I myself am close behind Doremy's time at 2:26.15, and I use Joycons for it. They have been through torture though, I can tell you that for sure.

Doremy played at a 2.7 pps average so the 999 line Marathon time would be about 925.74 seconds or 15 minutes and 25.74 seconds, but that's assuming Doremy can play at this speed for 15 minutes straight which is unlikely

I'm nowhere near as good in PvP Tetris but I feel like in marathons 6-3 stacking is harder to maintain a good speed at, especially when burning lines costs time

40 line sprint that is
I remember seeing this and thinking "Oh yeah I can probably do a 3.5 minute record" in puyo puyo tetris but for some reason, I have a lot of difficulty breaking in less than 5 minutes. I don't think it's just my stacking speed, I'd like to think I have above average stacking, but I don't know why I have difficulty.
Update, after some work I've managed to reduce my time to 3:54, so I'm getting better at the very least

Around ~55 seconds
it's hard to say because i stack a lot during the run instead of clearing 4-lines whenever i have the opportunity.
but i'd say that dividing the final time in 3 should be a good approach.
average of ~46.40s every 50 lines, but the last part usually takes slightly longer than the two other ones because of the speed.
0-48 : 44 seconds (2.727 pps)
48-100 : 48 seconds ( 2.708 pps)
100-150 : 47 seconds (2.66 pps)
2.7 pps average
50 line time would be 45.833, 46.153, and 47 seconds depending on which pps you use. If you use the average pps over the entire run it would be around 46.3 seconds
what's the purpose of switching to a 9-0? is it the speed?
yeah, im assuming its easier to keep up with the gravity.
yeah. the LV15 speed is too annoying to deal with if you do 6-3, so switching to 9-0 near the end is better to me.
also since 150 isn't a multiple of 4, i have to clear a double somewhere or i will end up with 152 lines at the end

The fastest 40 lines is in 20 seconds so that is 2 lines per second so that means he averaged 8 lines in 4 seconds
