The reason that this song is hard for me to hear is because I once heard a very good friend singing along my high school choir. I didn't know she could sing, and she passed away three days later on Christmas Eve. This version brings that memory flooding back. After I got saved it just got harder for me, and now I can't hear it without crying. The story of Christ's birth is just as beautiful as this song. We sang this song to our daughter daily when she was little, she loves it. It was an unexpected song in the Lone Survivor movie at the beginning. Beautiful tune.

Beautiful, indeed. Although personally, this Christmas hymn was one that I always had difficulty with (hard to sing [even badly] when you're choked up). Mostly because it reminds me of my late grandmother (mom's side of the family), plus the fact that she knew and occasionally sang the lyrics to "Silent Night" in German (she was half German), and that this was always the final hymn we sang at every Christmas service at St. Matthew Lutheran Church (while it was still an active church; now, while the building itself is still standing, it's a place offering various services to the homeless).

That holiday season, I would turn on a version of silent night that I loved and listen to it over and and over again while I lay under the Christmas tree and stared at the lights. My Dad died in July of 2021. He was 1 month from his 92 birthday. He taught himself Silent Night in German.

Beautiful, indeed. Although personally, this Christmas hymn was one that I always had difficulty with (hard to sing [even badly] when you're choked up). Mostly because it reminds me of my late grandmother (mom's side of the family), plus the fact that she knew and occasionally sang the lyrics to "Silent Night" in German (she was half German), and that this was always the final hymn we sang at every Christmas service at St. Matthew Lutheran Church (while it was still an active church; now, while the building itself is still standing, it's a place offering various services to the homeless).

Wow, that is so kind of you. Thank you. My brother passed away when I was 7 shortly before Christmas. That holiday season, I would turn on a version of silent night that I loved and listen to it over and and over again while I lay under the Christmas tree and stared at the lights. I wanted to create a version that held that beautiful moment of peace, comfort and simple worship. I'm glad you like it.
