    Great job a couple of suggestions 😀 Wet your brush a touch before you put it in the paint and it helps eliminate the brush stroke from happening. Trick 2 I use a straight edge razor blade to take off the raised bubbles on laminate!! Again Great Job!!

      Also if you tear a lot of that top space it will smooth better

      Kimberly, what would you do if the damage was on the top corners? I cut it off with the razor blade but it became puffy again when I painted it. Could I seal it with something? It seems what ever I tried didn’t work. TIA

      Yeah, I think the mixture of the roses and the wildflowers just didn't work. Also, it might have looked a little better if the roses had been a brighter violet to match the flowers in the transfer paper.

    I love how the doors are done in a decorative framed style as you can put any image or two tone color or anything you want really. And my gosh sweety, you must have a never ending stream of dressers passed along your way hahaha. The biggest piece of furniture I ever done (once) was a grand piano I had to do for my sister. This was long ago. The previous owner painted it with house paint and a roller. Like omg house paint on a grand piano. I died..lol. So I had to strip all the paint off and start from scratch. It was a huge job to do and I painted it black with a two part basecoat/clear coat automotive paint. Then I played it for hours.
    I love the decorative materials you use. Especially the choice in stencils and paper prints you use like this Decoupage paper. You have a lot of patience sweety I give you that. It's also fun when you can artistically paint flowers by hand using acrylics. I had to practice a lot before I had the hang of doing an array of flowers and leaves. You are very good at what you do and you make these pieces of furniture really stand out. Excellent work!

      I can’t even imagine stripping paint off a grand piano😳😅 I have seen Furniture pieces done in automotive paint. They turn out so beautiful! Someday I would like to try painting flowers by hand. I’ll have to watch some Bob Ross reruns first!

    I do agree.... this is a very in sweet looking piece. I haven't used any transfers or decoupage papers on furniture yet, only on small shelves or boxes. The DB florals, look like you hand painted them!! You really pamper your pieces Amy, and they always are standouts. I'm a big fan🌷

      Thank you! I get that...It took me a while to gather all the basics like Primers, sealers and brushes But the decoupage papers are pretty inexpensive and the stencils you can use over and over so they do end up paying for themselves overtime. Before I could afford the Redesign with prima transfers I would decoupage napkins to my furniture. It looked great! Now I figure I can use one transfer on two or three pieces That way I can get a big bang for my buck.

    It would be much easier to lay the piece flat to add the decoupage plus rip the paper off unevenly above the flowers and then the line wouldn't show

    • @FlipItFurniture
      @FlipItFurniture  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I went that route with the first paper And decided using the whole sheet worked better on this piece. Since the paper is so small I didn’t need to lay it down. I would definitely lay down for a bigger Decoupage papers though.

  • @TheFrenchHare

    This is gorgeous. I love the floral detail. A good tip with the decoupage paper is to use a wadded up piece of cling wrap to smooth it. It has a slick enough surface that it won’t tear it like your fingers might. Just a thought. I learned that trick from The Reclaimed Heirloom. Love your channel, I’ve been binge watching your videos all morning. 🙂

      Slick stick is a bonding primer. You can use it on shiny or slick surfaces so you don’t have to sand. Also, I did sand the bubbles With my sander but it does nothing. Carving them out makes for a beautiful finish.

    (It sounded like you were trying to pronounce the word “aubergine”.) If you Google “aubergine”, you’ll find a quick tutorial how to pronounce it.
    It’s always been one of my favorite colors.
    🤫…..It’s one of those fancy French words.
