Their singer Yuko is trained in Shigin and Kenshibu. Shigin is traditional singing of poetry and Kenshibu is a traditional way of dancing to it with either a fan (those folded Asian fans) or a sword. She has created her own singing style for the Wagakki Band where traditional techniques are adapted and mixed with modern singing to fit the tempo and style of modern music. They have a wide variety of songs and some cool instrumental songs for live performances, sometimes with fan/sword dancing or as a drum battle.
This encore is the BEST intro to the whole idea. Had COVID not happened this band was supposed be THE official wlecome band for the Olympics.. Silly side note for Para Games my fave one handed guitarist was featured (Lisapoole 13). Easy on both eyes and ears.
Thank you for checking it out and wish you a Happy New Year! 🥂 The second song is probably their most traditional sounding one, especially in terms of her singing. DrAcula's suggestion is great, but it's another special performance with an intro that then blends into another song. I will instead recommend a very modern sounding song called "Reload Dead": th-cam.com/video/ySwdYlvYAVs/w-d-xo.html (live in 2020) I guess it could be considered "pop metal" with a traditional flair. Great song with good energy and it's easy to listen to. Another suggestion would be "A Letter With No Name", a beautiful metal ballad both lyrically and instrumentally: th-cam.com/video/-RNp2EoNB1Y/w-d-xo.html (live in 2020) Choose what you like the most.
Wagakki means traditional Japanese musical instrument. The band has unfortunately entered an indefinite period of inactivity starting at the end of 2024. However, there are a lot of live videos of the past 10 years of their activities, so please enjoy them a lot.
I went to Wagakkiband's last concert before their hiatus last December. Each of the eight members has the ability to become a main player. Originally, they were active in their own groups outside of Wagakkiband. After 10 years of working together, they decided to make a break and do what they wanted to do. But they have promised their fans that they will definitely come back someday.
Welcome to the world of Wagakki Band. Homura (flame) is an instrumental Machiya (guitar) brought with him to Wagakki Band, It is only played live and varies from show to show. You will find at least 5 different versions of it on YT. This is the most popular. Akatsuki No Ito (thread of dawn) has become a special song for Wagakki Band as it is used by the audience as an encore chant. It is one of the few songs that has been played on all major tours and concerts. Wagakki simply means "Japanese musical instrument". Recommend this th-cam.com/video/aWlMc-pbDc8/w-d-xo.html
