Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language period drama television series created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The series is about the lives of tawaifs at the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj. It stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal. Bhansali and Mitakshara Kumar serve as directors.

Binge watched it and was terribly dissapointed. Too much emphasis on the beauty of sets clothes and make up without going beyond the superficial layers. ...... Also the Urdu pronounciation was atrocious. With the exception of Farida, they all over enunciated which made it difficult to watch. Love Manisha but i found her heavy handed here. All that glitters is not gold😢

While everything looked fantastic about this series, i feel like the plot somewhere fell apart. They spent 5-6 episodes trying to build the conflict amonst the tawaifs to drop it all in the last two episodes. It would've been a visual treat, if we could get to see fareedan avenging her mother and a good ending for waheeda.

If SLB is the genius they describe him to be, then please explain why on earth he thought his niece could carry the role of Alam. Does not seem like the work of a cinematic genius bc we all as the audience can see she wasn’t right for the role.
