WOW WOW!! So happy to see the whole dance all the way through. You so deserved the first place win. Not sure when the competition is that would advance you to the Champion level is scheduled to happen, but it is going to be an amazing event to watch. Because in my humble opinion you are already a Champion level dancer and the judges just need to award you that well earned title. Your skills, technique, danceablity, ability to connect with a random partner and build upon their skills to create something that is amazing to watch is next level. You have skyrocketed since the first video that that randomly popped up on my recommendations. It literally was the first time I had ever seen WCS and I was completely hooked and couldn't stop watching all of the various WCS dance videos I could find. Through your various competition videos I was introduced to so many amazing dancers of all levels. I would then check out their videos and then the videos from the different competitions and a whole new world opened up for me. How I wish that I had discovered this when I was in my twenties well before I started having trouble standing up and the ability to walk without the pain and numbness started. My symptoms were caused by a car accident that would most likely would have killed me if I had driven my car, but thankfully at the last minute we changed and went in my friend's older model Volvo. The doctors in the ER completely missed that I had suffered multiple spinal cord injuries in my cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions. Granted they didn't have the technology of the MRI and CT scanners back then. Due to the extreme severity of the whiplash I suffered it was pretty much impossible to see everything in my cervical spine and they didn't X-Ray my lower thoracic and lumbar regions because the adrenaline rush was masking the pain and other symptoms. My life would have been very different if they had been able to see the multiple injuries and done something to correct and repair the affected areas. It would take 20 years to finally get the correct diagnosis which is insane. Multiple doctors either didn't listen, ignored, didn't believe me when I brought up my symptoms and I was repeatedly misdiagnosed by multiple doctors. I actually had to demand that my former doctor order the MRI that literally saved my life.
I just found your videos, Keerigan, a while ago. They make me smile and I needed that in my life right now. Thank you ❤ I keep being amazed. Greetings from Hyvinkää, Finland!
In response to comments about dresses vs pants: As someone who dances WCS: pants are better for competition, a lot of foot work and movement can be very subtle. You want not only your partner but the judges to see what you are doing especially with weight transfers. Example, during a count, instead of stepping from one foot to the other you can keep both feet in contact with the floor and role through them to stand on the other foot. Hip movements like that get lost in translation with skirts and dresses. That being said, when social dancing, wear whatever is comfortable. 😊
I love this video. Thank you so much for posting it. You partner is a real lady. Bravo !As I'm French, my comments will be very raw, and I apologize for that. KR, you're improving so well and so fast, it's amazing ! I saw a lot of your videos, and I'm in awe of the work you've done. I'm from the tango world, so I venture to give a few advice, maybe misplaced. Shoulders and head higher, sometimes you loose yourself and your line looking too low. Shoulders more open (even if the care of the partner makes you bend, of course, bend the knees, no shoulders collapsing). And your feet could improve in the control of their direction. I venture to observe that to get to the next level you could learn more followers steps, such as turns (I don't now the exact term). But the connexion is so good, and fluidity and musicality are perfect. And the fun you share with every one by your smile. Thank you.
Love the dancing. However. I don't get the female dance attire. I'm a salsa dancer and can also swing dance. The women usually wear skirts that flow as they dance.
Honestly, I think it’s not necessary to require any specific attire of the dancers, and wcs is the only dance style I have seen so far that allows the dancers to perform in whatever clothing they find comfortable
In a previous video, Keerigan Rudd has said that skirts are usually not ideal for WCS. Perhaps it is one of the things that sets WCS apart from other kinds of swing dance. I've never seen any female dancer wear a skirt in any WCS dance competition I've seen so far.
I don't know that all women are comfortable wearing skirts though, especially the long skirts that would be necessary to prevent wardrobe malfunctions during swirls or dips, or do you wear cycling shorts or tights under your skirts?
I’m guessing that, because it’s completely improv, and the dancers need to be able to easily read each other’s signals, a flowing skirt would partially hide the dancer’s intended movements. The skirt would still be swirling from a spin as the dancer stepped out for the next move! Personally, I find myself better able to focus on the talent and physical movement of both the lead and the follow in WCS, because I’m not distracted by costumes.
She spins a lot better than the others. The fluidity with stops was really impressive.
Fantastic!!!!! 💃🕺❤❤very deserving of 1st place!!!
His footwork is so fluid, it almost looks like he's sliding

🎉🎉😂❤ loved it🎉
Bravo!❤
It started so tame but boy did it get wild
Brilliant
Have to say the lady knows her moves
I jus asked for this!!
Do you coordinate outfits somehow? You and Lilly looked like you had preplanned outfits too.
Nope just luck haha
I‘m not even in the video and I love it.
Is this dance similar to the " shag?" It looks like this dance my grandma used to do and try to teach me as a kid.
It evolved from the same roots of shag - Lindy hop
Great job as always! Just wondering if there is prize money associated with winning competitions to help with travel expenses, for example.
Typically, yes. It isn’t much, but it helps
😂 street style

I’ve been saying this!!! If the women wore a dress or skirt instead of pants like the guys it would be so much more attractive to watch.
