    I loved how she mentioned the smell of basil. I also have basil growing and sometimes rub it in my hands and smell the aroma before journaling and doing mindfulness exercises. I do this with a few things I find aromatic and pleasant. I'm currently going through the book "30 Days to Reduce Anxiety" by Harper Daniels and using that for journaling and using some CBT exercises as well.

      I'll check out that book. I've never heard of it. Thanks for watching and commenting... and basil is AMAZING.

    Thank you for sharing your tools and strategies for anxiety! It's so helpful to hear what helps others in challenging times. I am just steps behind you, in that my only son is off to college in a couple weeks. It hasn't hit me yet, but I have a feeling nothing prepares you for an empty nest. Loved seeing your journal and how you stay organized! I use a bullet journal, and I love getting ideas for new ways and approaches! Sending a fellow mama virtual hug to you 💗

    7:49 ... Is that writing board , a Passport size ??
    8:41 ... Is not having only one card to represent the year...eg: the "hangman" card , projecting a stale prediction (feeling shipwrecked for a whole year) ?
    The Hangman card was a method of hanging,that was a common punishment at the time for traitors in Italy.
    Modern Meaning: The Hanged Man is the card that suggests ultimate surrender, sacrifice, or being suspended in time.
    I'm not sure, but I always thought these cards were a daily or seasonal card draws...this way you continue to progress in your spiritual cultivation and development , through the passage of time.

      Yes, that's the passport size 2023 pencil board from Traveler's Company.
      As far as the tarot card goes, I don't use tarot in a predictive way. Tarot has always held more meaning for me as a reflective tool rather than a predictive one. I actually plan to do a whole card of the year video for 2024 because I'm approaching it in a very different way this year.
      Thanks for commenting. 🙂

    Hi K, This is awesome....I loved seeing all the different ways to file your information into your diaries. I am going to start some of your ideas your shared. So thank you so much. As for your son living his dream sweetheart.....you gave him the gift of Independence and also the gift of living his dream...an amazing gift to have given any other soul. We are all here to lift of children and help them rise to the glorious human beings we know they are. You are amazing to have achieved this as a Mother. Good on you. Pat yourself on the back and celebrate what you have done. The only advice I have to help your through this period sweet lady is stay busy when you need to, cry when you need to and rest when your able to....and like your doing...keep taping into the things you know work like walking in nature and looking after your self. Every day that passes is one day closer to see your son again. I am sending you love and encouragement K....You are amazing woman with an amazing son.....Take care ...Terri from Australia 🦘 🇦🇺 💜

    Reverse SAD is very real and it's even harder to deal with because the majority doesn't really respect it in the same way that they respect SAD. When it's rainy and what not, it's acceptable to complain about the dreariness but when the sun is out, everyone expects you to happily skip thru the fields. It's a struggle for sure. Hang in there.

    • @Amidst_the_Grey

      I've done a lot of reading on it over the past couple of weeks and so many things just make sense now. I have my struggles in the winter too, but NOTHING like what summer has been this year, and even last year. The mornings are starting to feel like autumn and I'm feeling a lot better overall.
      Thank you for watching. 💜

    empty nest, such a deep sad feeling... I can relate. Two years ago my youngest daughter, the only one still living at home, moved to Germany. Now its just me and my little dog at home. You will get used to it, some day, but not today, not yet. Missing him, is letting you feel how much you care and it feels closer . I wish you all the best

    Washington State - yeah!!! Love the video, SAD is difficult, can’t imagine having the reverse. It must be so hard to have those challenges when others on the upswing. It is interesting to think about that being difficult. I am a SAD individual, however, seeing your anxiety coping methods for Reverse SAD are wonderful for when mine is kicking in. Add in my autoimmune disease and stress and anxiety seem to rule, so watching this video gave me some ideas to help it. Thank you!

    Are the summers humid where you are? I find the humidity rising in Japan summers gives me anxiety every time because I start to feel like I am not getting enough oxygen and since I usually hyperventilate or breath hold (hold anxiety in my chest) I feel like sometimes it triggers a pattern for me and my brain gets confused and I get anxiety! Being aware of this helps enormously. As does refusing to wear tight, underwired bras haha! Well done for getting through what must have been such a difficult time for you. I have one son and I am the sole parent present for him 95% of the time and despite having another eight years before he potentially leaves home I already lie awake in the small hours thinking how hard that will be hahah😅 Love watching your planning videos, found them via Sylvia with a Plan.

      P.s. I am thinking to try planning according to my cycle, since it affects my energy and mood so much, and wondering if I can adapt your technique somehow. So my early month would be during the cycle, mid month would cover ovulation, and then late month PMT 😅 I probably need to adjust the days accordingly but I feel like it might work somehow…. Maybe? Haha

      Yes! Humidity is high where I am, which is the issue. Dry heat I can do, the humidity really gets to me.
      I love Sylvia! I was so stoked when she mentioned me in her videos. I felt so special. 🤣

    • @Amidst_the_Grey
      @Amidst_the_Grey  ปีที่แล้ว

      The monthly tabs are part of the yearly customized sticker pack that Travelers Company offers. It includes a larger set, which is the set I have on my monthly, and a smaller set. I've seen similar tabs elsewhere on Etsy.
      Thanks so much for watching. 💜

    Thanks for sharing your system. Really interesting. I'm starting to think about planners for next year. I worked in a Hobo-Weeks a bit this year, but I'm not sure if I will next year. I discovered those little field notes, recently and they are intriguing. I'm also interested in TNs. I need to take a closer look at what they offer. I have been thinking about you and your son. I used to work on Parris Island as a mess hall manager. I worked in the Weapon's Battalion unit, so every marine recruit passed through that hall eventually. Huge cavernous dining hall. The recruits were so beautiful - all ethnicities represented, there. I loved them all, for a bit. Take care, Kay.

    What is the difference in the to-dos on your 10-day sticky note and the to-do’s in your field notes ? Thanks!

    • @Amidst_the_Grey
      @Amidst_the_Grey  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The sticky note is for more time-specific items that are attached to specific days. The Field Notes is a catch-all for all the things that come to mind, but aren't day/time specific at that time. Does that make sense?

    I am on full disability for a depression/anxiety combo so I know how horrid especially anxiety is. I am fascinated by the basil. I have no gardening skills at all and have even managed to "kill" succulents that people swear will live anywhere. I think I over watered according to one of my friends. Anyway...is there anything particular I should know about growing basil inside? I would enjoy that so much then maybe slowly venture out to other plants. Very enjoyable and well-presented video.

    • @Amidst_the_Grey
      @Amidst_the_Grey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! Basil loves heat and light. I've never grown past summer because I haven't invested in indoor lights. That's something I might do this year.
      If it makes you feel any better, I killed a succulent last year.

    Cool. So you don't actually make the day plan, you just write down the task to do and dates, but don't consolidate the tasks for the today and this week?

    • @Amidst_the_Grey
      @Amidst_the_Grey  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll do a daily list if I'm feeling really distracted and just need to hone in on a particular set of tasks. Or, if I have a project or something like a lot of tasks related to specific projects, errands, or events, sometimes I'll make an entirely separate list on a sticky note and work from that. In general, though, tasks all get dumped in the Field Notes, especially if they aren't time/date dependent. Weekly planning just doesn't work for me.
      Thanks so much for watching. 💜
