@@R_E_Y_12 yes. I can feel Yuqi frustration about this. She said it before they start this performance that they (she herself) wants people to feel 'terrified' so listening to people still saying she looked cute after all that would probably frustrated her.

The song is Put it Straight, a B-side on (G)Idle's EP I Made. It was originally a slow, sad ballad about coming to terms with an unexpected breakup. In this performance they decided to recontextualize it into a song about a woman going increasingly insane being unable to accept her lover leaving her. I love how everything in this stage was specifically designed to unsettle the viewer: contortionist dancers, smeared makeup, blood red dresses with barefeet and mussed hair, a jarring and sudden non-traditional rap verse, the faltering voices at the end of phrases, the horror movie sound effects, and even the emotionless expressions. Soyeon said that she wants Idle to be a group that breaks conventions, and that in this performance, she specifically wanted to break the convention that dresses have to be worn with heels and that a ballad can't also be powerful. I think she accomplished all that and more. I seriously love when she gets experimental.
You forgot the part that the woman killed her love for leaving her. That is why the dress is red and everyone is wearing engagement rings because they where supposed to marry but he didnt love her anymore.
@@ruffruffy4291 I didn't forget it, I was mostly just talking about the intentionally unsettling elements rather than my theories on the story (except for a brief one sentence summary). I actually agree with that interpretation and I think that a lot more than just the dresses and rings support it.
There's the intro with the man falling limp with the horror movie knife sound effect representing the actual murder, the section where the backup dancers are being literally dragged away like corpses, the contortionist dancers who extend their limbs in oddly stiff unnatural directions and could represent a corpse in rigor mortis, plus the nature imagery in the background (the waves, wind and lightning) that represent a woman scorned is a force of nature that will smite you with "justice" like Zeus with a lightning bolt.
Soyeon is insane 😂 shes a monster in the best way 😂

@@ad_kk16 woah I was so confused what this notification was in reference to. I forgot about this thread entirely. I'm not really concerned with "accuracy" in this context. It was more that the story wasn't really related to my point. I was talking about unconventional artistic decisions designed to make the audience uncomfortable, which is virtually NEVER done in pop music. A stage/song having a narrative is very cool and I always like that, but it's hardly unconventional.
Like, if i wanted to analyze the artistic choices in the recent Aespa songs, I would really only mention their lore to contextualize their radical mid-song tone changes. The specifics of the story arent really relevant to the song writing.

This is actually one of their B-sides from their “I made” EP. The original is really good as well. This performance though...WOW...I was blown away and in shock. I had “Destiny” performed by OH MY GIRL as the best performance IMO, but after this one, it moves to number 2. Soojin’s part gives me chills every time.

@@alyxeon you should do a listening party! Also they decided to call it "I Made" because it was produced by the group and everyone had input on it. The first 4/5 tracks were written and composed by Soyeon (with contributions from the other members of course) and Minnie was the main writer and composer for Blow Your Mind. Also, Blow Your Mind actually has a MV, so maybe you could just react to the video!
It's a good chill song, Soyeon straight up picked "Put it straight" but Yuqi wanted a B-track that would relate to non-G-IDLE fans and I agree with her tho, so I would have preferred a more powerful B-track like "Maze" imo it's their best B-track.

Every elements that were put together really sent shivers down my spine. It was creepy.
The contortionists, the out of pocket rap, the distorted singing, the red dresses, the rings on their ring fingers, the smudged lipsticks, the interpretative dances, their emotions, the sound effects used, the back-up dancers, and more.
There are so many elements involved and all of those elements created a masterpiece.
