  • Another wild & fun O2S in the books! I felt great and executed my race plan - follow moves from four key riders and save as much energy as I could through Misery Hill. My only other deal was to make at least one attack at some point after Misery, which I launched flying down onto the road. Nothing stuck (the entire race) and we were back together. I gave it another go once more before 510, but then sat on the back of the group for a while.
In the end, I'm proud I executed my plan, fought hard all race despite some setbacks, and was there for the sprint finish - even if I didn't play my cards right there.
The only thing I'd change about this race is to let it rip and push the pace when Dax, Caleb, and I had separation on Powerline, really give it a good go over the top of Misery once Kerry bridged across, and jump better in the sprint for the last straightaway with 300 meters to go. The early moves didn't stick this year, but I can see it happening in the future and had it worked this year, we'd have a different race report for y'all!
All in all - a great race and fun weekend in Marquette!

Great video! You did awesome! Great to see Matter and Tristan on the power line climbs still making moves. Brings back some old memories ~ Simonster

Thanks Mike - the end result of 9th isn't spectacular, but I feel like I finally shattered some walls I've struggled to knock down since I got back into racing a couple of years ago. Next up, Chequamegon!

@@caseyhildebrandt I started with cousin in the 3:30+ wave. Worked my way up. If I do it again, hopefully I'll be in good enough shape to get a call up.

Casey I love to watch your front of the pack point of view. Let's the rest of us know how things look up front it's the only way we're ever going to to see it.

Did you mount the camera below the handlebar? With XC helmets you can't mount it on top of the helmet where it would be ideal, and for a chest mount is too much effort and it may also be uncomfortable. When I'm riding I can't find a good mounting point. And I thought mounting the camera on handlebars would be way too shaky. Awesome video, by the way!

I run a Garmin/GoPro mount from KOM Cycling I like. It’s a quick mount so I can take the camera on and off by rotating it 90 degrees. I do run HyperSmooth on the GoPro as well so that helps the stability as well!
