Very touching tribute, it was evident how distraught Masai was in his conference. As legendary as Mutombo was in sport, he was so much more outside of it. Rest in peace Dikembe, and may your legacy carry on and shine bright bringing joy and hope to many more.
to the nation of africa and to his family, I present my sincere condolences. A great man with pride and courage, he will be missed. Thank you for sharing this moment with us
I’m a former local basketball player from kingston jamaica I was given the nickname mutombo in 1994 because i was good at blocking shots and course i had a lethal elbow too just like the legend had,the world has lost a great human being one that can never be replaced r.i.p to one of the greatest defenders global basketball has seen and condolences to all of africa because you lost a son of the soil🕊️
Its awesome that he built a hospital in Congo that looks very good from Google maps. I loved when they defeated the top seed Supersonics in 94. When he took the Sixers to the finals, even with a highly inefficient Iverson in the team that took all the credit (had no success without Mutombo), took the Nets to the finals as well later. One of the best players and humans the NBA has seen. He deserves a large section in Springfield hall of fame.
I remember meeting him at a Gas Station in Georgia in 2001 when he played for the Hawks. He was such a nice guy, what a kind soul and human being, may he rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏
That was rude of them! Even a blind could have felt that his sadness was genuine. It's really difficult to fake crying and to make it seem real. Even professional actors fail sometimes to do so!!
Now you know why Masai cried. Dikembe and Masai walked many miles together. R.I.P Dikembe, may you walk among the ancestoral giant with Madiba!
My condolences to Dikembe's family and Masai . Rest in peace Dikembe!
We all need to keep Dikembe's memory alive by giving back - I promise, I will !
Another legend has left us 😢

This man chooses the continent that needed him most and did something. Now is our turn
