I've been told that I made a small mistake around the 9 min mark. The Goblin should move to the position that would give him the best chance to hit. That would of course be on the table using the height advantage rule, not by the door.

I’m only getting 2 games this year, this and Dungeon Universalis. Already sold my other table games in order to dive deep on just these 2 systems!

I plan on playing a ranger when I get my copy but I cant help but think that they are going to be a joke inside the dungeons

Hi, now that I have had a chance to play this and happened upon a few items I have found myself with a question that I think probably needs an answer from Michael / team. Though ofc if anyone else knows the answer then that would be great.
So my issue arose when when playing my group randomly found a sling. When looking up all the details in the rule book I notices something.
Sling - 1h weapon, 1 enc, reload, unlimited ammo (no need to buy arrows), deals 1d8 damage
Short bow - 2h weapon, 5enc, reload, needs arrows, deals 1d8 damage
So by my understanding compared to the short bow; the Sling is cheaper, lighter, it's 1h so you can hold something in off hand, you never need to spend money on arrows, and deals the same damage. Is this an error?

Check the latest update over at the Kickstarter page for details on this. The manufacturing is done, and the game will leave China in mid feb (everything there is closed down now due to the Chinese New Year).

Is it still possible to get a copy of your game?

I'm afraid you'd have to sign up for the reprint newsletter. Hopefully, we can get enough people to make one. Just google the game and you can find it (if I post a link here the comments is removed). You can also find the link via the facebook group.

Very nice video and I am eager to play this! Can't wait till my copy arrives. One thing I found odd (also wrote that on the discord server): it does not matter how far your target is away. In my book one major factor in ranged combat! I guess we have to houserule that. It does not makes sense, that it is as difficult to hit a target at range 2, as it is at range 10.

Hi Doc and thank you for your nice comment!
I fully understand your thoughts on range. I played around a bit with range modifiers in the beginning but in the end I ditched them. The way I reasoned was that with a max range of 10 squares, all shots are taken within 15-20m which would me more or less be point blank range. Of course you could get closer, but then the sideways movements of the targets would have a bigger impact and also make them harder to hit. So I figured it balanced each other out.
Outdoors, you get bigger distances but fighting at long distances in the game is not really common so I felt that it would be fun to give the ranged weapons an edge in those situations by not punishing them with negative modifiers.
But that's not to say that it feels right for everyone else and the good thing is that it's super easy to houserule (just like you said). The system is robust in that way that you could do this without breaking things :)

@@leagueofdungeoneers2523 Thanks for the answer! I disagree: calling 15-20 m point blank is a very bold statement. And they would also move when they are farer away, so you would also have sidemovement there (and you would just follow the target, when it is closer). But as you said: the system can be easily modified. I guess I will follow the advice from someone on discord and substract -5 for 5-10 and -10 for 10-15 and so on...Thanks for creating this great game and making the gameplay videos! Keep them coming!

@@DocMcJansen Given a bolt from a crossbow or arrow from a bow can travel hundreds of feet per second I think 15-20m (50-65ft) is pretty much point blank since the time any enemy would have to dodge/dive out of the way of an attack at 15-20m is much less than a second. At a max range of 20m at a speed of 200ft per second the target would have a little over 0.3 seconds to dodge the arrow/bolt. Outside a dungeon in an external location at greater distances I would agree a modifier could be used (i.e. at 100m distance the target would have 1.6 seconds if the bolt/arrow was travelling at 200ft per second) and it would also be harder to hit that target in the first place. I would assume any dungeoneer exploring a dungeon and taking a bow/crossbow with them would be well practised in using it and have the strength to draw it...so a modifier in the dungeon making it harder to hit at the furthest distance of 20m compared to say at 5m would seem unrealistic to me.

The close range of the confines of a dungeon wouldn’t make a lot of difference. Maybe outdoors. But most of the ranged combat is pretty close up in the game, so I’d imagine that any heroes trained to use a bow would be just fine.

@@TheDungeonDive Being a lot at shooting ranges, I do have to disagree with you and jonathan2622, but I am not entirely sure myself. Beauty of boardgaming is: this rule is bothering you? Change it! :)
Hope you are fine Daniel (and if not, I hope you will soon ;) ). Really like to watch some of your videos
