Hello man. I used to watch a lot of your videos around 4 years ago, until I stopped with this hobby. Back then I told you in a video that you are going to get far kid. Here we are, 4 years after, you got far and I've started knife making again, glad to see that you are still in business and hope you are doing great mate, take good care of you
God it’s so impressive how you do so much by hand, I feel the majority of other content creators just rely on power tools and pump content out, but it’s so inspirational to see someone put all the work in and pay so much attention to it.
The finished result is so amazing. I like it a lot, it looks classy. It wouldn't have looked as good if the blade had been as long as it initially was. The crack was a good thing! It made you build the oven for heat treating and now you have this beautiful knife. Great work!
Right then Artof, that's a splendid job of making that knife and a splendid video too! But I would say that you haven't quite finished yet. A high quality knife like that deserves a really decent scabbard or some sort of display, come presentation box. You know this makes sense :-) It's great to see you back on this channel again too.
I notice you went with bench stones for the final sharpening. What happened to that crazy "polishing compound on a plywood grinder wheel" system you had a while ago? Is it not the right tool for this job?
That method is still great for re sharpening blades, but on this knife I had a lot of material to remove initially (like 0.1mm) and that method only really polishes the edge, doesn't remove much metal.
Oh wow I love it! Do you sell it! Please let me have a chance. Please I'm adding this: I have always loved knives. I've been subscribed to your channel for awhile now. I used to have a LOT of knives but my sister and her boyfriend broke into my locked bedroom and stole them (almost all) and sold them, about 15 years ago. I haven't gotten into collecting like that again but I've said that to say with all the beautiful knives I've ever had I've never had one as stunning as this one. I don't know why but to me this one is gorgeous! I know it must have a very good, heavy weight to it. It looks so smooth and not a flaw to be found. Beautiful! Such a good job. I saw in the comments where a person asked if you'd upload more often. I wish the same. I didn't realize how much I missed you till i saw you. Hope that made sense. Anyway, time isn't wasted when watching your videos. I almost always learn a little something that gives big returns. Good job!
Little tip for the next time you forget to drill your peg holes in the tang before heat treating... either Heat the tang with a Mapp Gas or Oxy-Propane Torch (blade in a bucket of water so as not to ruin the temper on the edge) and normalize it again to soften the steel or... You can use a Carbide End Mill in your Drill Press. So long as you use plenty of cutting oil they tend to go through hardened steel like a hot knife through ice cream.
I like this video, it is nice, very satisfying, veryy thankful you made this video and the editing is really nice, thank you for making such a wholesome video!
Love the finish. Notice you do the hand sanding dry? i use kerosene & my paper wears out so fast. Can't get it cheaply out here either... And the sharpening? Awesome.
The heat treatment was obviously a disappointment for you but lots of good learning experiences at the same time. You did very well to salvage it. Can I ask though, what would have been the original intended overall length and width of the knife had the heat treatment been successful?
You've done an awesome job making that knife 🔪 it looks awesome 👍😎 I wish you could sale me a knife like that one there . I'd buy it in a heartbeat.I would love to learn how to make my own . Thank you for sharing your video with all of us subscribers 💯🖐️🙏👍👌
Why? Aluminium is useful for many things, but it doesn't hold an edge very well, and it's soft in comparison to even ordinary steels. I'm an aluminium fabricator by trade, I use aluminium by choice for many things, but I wouldn't for a knife.
Enjoy the video!

I think a lot of effort goes into those as well (depending what creator your talking about) but this is next level lol
The attention to detail is phenomenal. Your growth as an artisan has gone up quite a bit since the beginning.
Very smart and cunning idea with the masonry drill bit being modified for the hardened steel. Salute
You have my deepest respect towards you and your person. You hang on and made a BEAST of a knife... Regards
Cheers for your dedication and real hard work. I cannot even think of any work with this much patience.
One of the best channels out there mate

What an AWESOME knife. Love love love the blade shape too.
Man, I admire your fortitude. I thought I had a high tolerance for grinding, filing, sanding and polishing, but you are Olympic!
the blade shap is beautiful
Awesome built and that’s a great finish on it. Lots of work
Nice save, beautiful result.
Awesome work. You gave it a cleaver like shape which is sweet.
Very happy you are able to find time to make videos again! Always has been one of my favorite channels.
Absolutely fantastic. It has to be one the best knives made on TH-cam. Please keep them coming. Also nice to see a fellow brit making them aswell
Nice salvage work. You should still make the first design with your newly acquired experience. They'll be a really nice pair of blades.
Looks like a proper battoning knife
IF there is a Knife maker comp, that would surely be in with a shout of winning.
Wow, what a beautiful knife!
The mirror finish is absolutely amazing I wish I had that type of skill thank you

You worked realy clean with a lot of patience! I like that.

Beautiful knife
Amazing Work, I'm grateful to you to share the errors with us
I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
Great knife. I think a sheath might be useful, it looks super sharp. 👍
Cheers! Planning on milling an aluminium sheath with leather padding inside once I finish building the cnc machine
@@taow why not just laminate it out of wood and inline it with leather inside and from outside you can use torch to burn wood and varnish it .
Ugh how I want to hold this knife, looks so very satisfying. Amazing job !
Turned out to be a cool looking knife
that thing is too beautiful to use, its an heirloom now

i could never be that patient

Lovely looking work 👍👍
Lots of work but what a beautiful knife

Stealing others things is horrible
Looks awesome mate, 👍👍👍
I have sharped the concerts drill bits like that when I have been in a bind. It works and is much cheaper too.
Nice Work
Could we have a quick how to on the improvised tungsten bit?

Damn it looks like a really really high quality knife

Nice and shiny 👍👍
What whetstones are they ?
was balance a consideration? The handle seemed to be much heavier when generally the blade would be if not at center.
The heat treatment was obviously a disappointment for you but lots of good learning experiences at the same time. You did very well to salvage it. Can I ask though, what would have been the original intended overall length and width of the knife had the heat treatment been successful?
Just watched your HDPE slab tutorial.
You've come a long way dude!
How about a Damascus steel blade with a Damascus HDPE handle?
Wow keren banget nih kk motif pisau nya juga indah sekali
What did you spend in the 12 mmeter slab of steel
how much did it end up weighing? looks conky for its size but super cool
Every project is a learning curve. All you need to do is put your name on them.
Well done! Is it for sale?
dude this is sick!! what was the material u used for the handle called?
Make a knife clamp next! looks like you need it lol
Nice
Very cool. 👍
yo love your channel

Not even accidents just change the plans :D
"No mistakes just happy accidents"you mean children?
Elbow tendinitis from filing
Crack, to thick?
The way things were going I was expecting a 12mm thick razorblade
IN MY OPENION THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS THE BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BLADE AND THE HANDLE
Do the call of duty black ops 3 zombie Bowie knife.
Knife dimensions
That boi clean as h*ck
Drill before heat treatment
(Aussie accent) That's not a knife....THIS IS A KNIFE!
I'm still shocked you were sad when you cracked that blade. I'd have been pissed.
