Thanks Nathan. I learned a lot about modern thermals from this. I did the operational trials of the first British military thermal imager, called Shatterlane, in 1981 in South Armagh. It weighed 25kg and had a prodigious appetite for oxygen bottles. The cooling pump wasn’t especially noisy to the human ear but attracted cows from miles round which made it useless for us. Good on you for protecting the turtles from the pigs. Our local ACT "reserve" is heaving with pigs, foxes and cats.
Thanks for the comment. The gear has come a long way really quickly. Had similar experiences with the Tasman units back in the day. Limited operating cycles and jury rigged radio batteries 👍👍
