Got the axe few days ago and I’m blown away by its capabilities, this rig in the hands of a skilled driver will stomp any other platform on the market to date.
Both are great trucks. Redcat did a outstanding job designing these vehicles. My choice to buy was very easy I chose both and I love the way each truck handles different terrain in their own way . Ive been a Redcat customer for almost 10 years and look forward to all the new innovative products they bring us
Now that Axial has come out with the SCX10 iii I really hope you answer back Redcat with another home run. Possibly offering a 2 speed or dig or both as option. I’d pay a healthy price for one or many either way. Don’t have the Wendigo yet but have many many Gen8’s. HIT ANOTHER 1 OUT OF THE PARK REDCAT!
Need all the options just like the scx10 iii, because there is always the option of not using it, it’s really that easy....just don’t use it or install it.👍
@@kravenkrawlhobby5438 if you still listening, I've purchased a Capra and the Gen-8 Axe. The Dig is nice to have on a climber and I enjoy it as such, but the Axe is a very good "trailer" if you know what I mean. Out with buddies just fooling around, it's got space for anything in the back to take along. There both good, clean fun for family and friends. That's what its all about.
I have a Gen 8. I installed a AXE 3300kv system. If I could afford something new I would most likely go with the Kaiju to be honest. But a Wendego is a cool truck as well, I would like to add one to my garage at some point.
I just Picked up an Axe and I couldn't be happier. these are 2 very different vehicles and price points, but the Axe is a much higher end vehicle, not to mention crawler vs racer.
Redcat you guys must made the wendigo v2.0!!!!And make it 2 speed transmission, full metal, add portal axles so we can crawl and go rock racing in the same time and also got a lot of ground clearance!!!!and also add metal beadlock wheel and belted tire, make it 1:7 scale, make it 6s,add sound system, light system and smoke system!!!!and it will be very cool!!!
This is a Good Video Comparison between the 2 different types of Redcat Models, I currently have a Gen 7 Sport and I was really disappointed with the 3 minutes of Run time before the C Hub's split off the mount screw. But aftermarket Aluminum Complete Axles $$$ fixed the problem with the weak plastics that Redcat uses. So with that said I probably won't be purchasing any Redcat RC's in the future, However I did get my Grandson a Redcat Blackout XBE with supposed to be waterproof electronics which shorted out the RX on the first Splash...so yep I will be purchasing other Brand's that might cost a few more Dollars up front but are Dependable out of the Box. Go Redcat and be ready to bust out the upgrade cost 💯💯💯😎👍👍
That's a tough pick. Both are great and great looking. The Axe is proven and tough as nails. The Wendigo has some small issues IMO. The Wendigo needs beadlocks and the end links are not durable from what I've seen. The Wendigo has some videos on TH-cam of steering linkage tearing up. I would pick the Axe if I wanted something that needs minimum attention. I would get the Wendigo if I wanted something to upgrade right out of the box.
Crawler for me but I'm just getting back into the hobby after 6 years and have to say I just got my gen 8 pack in the mail and its better built then my scx10 deadbolt and the price is great think red cats got a winner on their hand
Would love to see a new gen8 with the same axle design as the wendigo but at the gen8 portals width and use the reefs servo from the axe but use a hobby wing 1080 esc and a brushed 540 can motor to keep cost down a little
What if i want to do both at the same time?? Because i want to trail ride, and get my machine dirty, but i also want to go fast. Plus i prefer the body of the gen 8
There must be a lot of people buying the Windego and expecting it to be a crawler as well in order for Redcat to put out this video. Not a criticism just an observation. I have a gen 8 and am undecided about the Windego vs and axial bomber or Gmade gom. If the Windego came with a brushed motor it would be an easy decision.
I still can't decide. I want to crawl, but also have the ability to go fast. So what I have read, I need a 2 speeder with remote lockable differentials. If I understood correctly, Redcat doesn't have that right? What should I choose? 🙂
@@tmar352 Yes. I have decided to buy a TRX4 Sport kit and then if I need it later I can always buy a 2 speed transmission or/and the diff locker system upgrade :-)
Understandable. However, those can be replaced or upgraded if need be and so far they seem to be handling what is being given in terms of "bashing" to the model just fine.
You guys should send me one and I'll do videos up on the old coal mine strip jobs here in Eastern Ky. Of which there are many. Could do a different one every day for a year and never see the same one twice. Could do guided crawling/bashing tours? What do ya think?
@Ron T thanx very much for the reply, honestly didn't expect one.yea, most people round here are laid back, and nice.cool to hear back from someone at Redcat. Even if you're not from there, just let me think it's so.
Hello I just got a lightning str 2 days ago finesed the break in yesterday it was having steering issues when I turn to eather direction it does not center itself back it stays off alil towards witch ever direction I turn .please help I all ready crashed a few times because of it I'm so disillusioned at this point 😥
If you have not already done so, be sure to talk to our support/warranty team for help. They can help out Mon-Fri 8am-430pm AZ time. www.redcatracing.com/pages/contact
To be honest the wendigo needs a 3660 motor... The 540 is really kinda small for what the truck is.. I got both these trucks I upgraded both em within 24hours lol. I do it to most of my trucks n cars. My wendigo I put a 3660 3300kv motor and a hobbywing Max 8 esc which is way quicker lol. And has more torque hands down. Now my Gen8 y'all done amazing with. It's a bad ass in it's own right. But I also went up n motor size and esc. I need the speed n power I run mine through mud and sand creeks ect lol. So it's needs the extra ass behind it to muscle through all that. But other then that both are nice.
Voice over guy sounds like the guy from the RC Driver Online channel. Love how this vehicle looks, great video!
It is him lol
Definitely him

I have the gen 7 and gen 8, I want the axe, but I'd go for the wendigo for something different
Both, have the Gen8 and just bought the Kaiju. Can't wait to see what vehicles are coming down the pipeline in the near future.

Just ordered the Wendigo, can’t wait!

Yeah, I have the axe, and with the 3s lipo it goes pretty fast.
I'd choose the Monster trucks!! Preferably an updated Ground Pounder!

4 years later.... I can finally buy the Wendigo!
I want a crawler now!
I got both the Gen 8 AXE is great ..the Windeigo is pretty nice also .....
Seems like a sick truck
Both are Decent Trucks!! Good Builds Redcat!!! Keep the Momentum Going! 👍👍😎
I want both. Lol
Got the blue scout and now want the wendigo bad

They have
Haha I choose both two of my current favorite rigs been rocking the wendigo love that beast 👊💯👍🏻😃

I would have to go with the Wendigo😁 I do love my 3 Gen-8 Scout ii tho
I don't understand the choosing part, who only wants one RC?
TRUE!

Hey Redcat! You should do a video on the rampage rally!
I like both of them.
Did you guy's change the sterring bump and the skidplate for the chassi pack? great upgrades on the axe 😎👍
So the skid plate was changed on the PACK kit but nothing else - if this is what you are referring to.
Windego for speed, gen 8 for precision crawling.
It said “like and comment to win a rc” so im doing it rn
Crawler all day

The plastic tipped linkages breaking would put me off the Wendigo; it's not ready to bash out of tbe box which is disappointing for a rock racer.

Bring back the mirage! I'll buy it with my trump bucks.
Going to take more than 1 person to want a car for it to come back sadly!

Once I get my 1200$ check I'm getting me a wendigo, just doing my part by putting back into the economy.
This sh!ts ALL made in chino. All makes and models. A shame really

GOOD! We do too!
Would you get the gen7 pro or sport. Just for performance reasons, not for looks
The Gen7 Sport vs PRO have no performance difference - only cosmetic.
And use, food is awesome here. Handed down thru generations.
