    Hi Dan, makes good sense that judging from your current findings. Being on or near the source you have a great claim. This would warrant a lil prospecting further up stream. Find the the runout area and possible rich source.
    Thanks for the observations and another great episode. Keep the good word coming.

    Dan I have to say. You introduced me to PioneerPauly and I got interested in GOLD. LOL Anyway I have watched tons of your videos and all of his ( he doesn't have that many ) but you by far have so many good videos. Absolutely fascinating. Please, more videos like this!!! Question: I have a piece of white quarts I found in, of all places, a 50lb bag of white quartz landscaping rocks my wife bought @ a local Home Depot to use to put around some flower beds she has in the yard. I was helping her spread them around the base of our mailbox post and what caught my eye on this particular rock were these tiny gold (what I call) "beads" on it. The rock is probably about 1/2 the size of a golf ball and there are about 5 or 6 of these 'beads' on it. I have tried to remove them by scraping them or picking at them with no luck. For the hell of it, I ran my metal detector over the rock (my machine is a Bounty Hunter Lonestar) and it showed in the mid-range for Gold. I had a friend with a (better than mine)Garrett machine also give it a 'sweep' and he said it was in the gold range. I also tested it for magnaticity (is that a real word, LOL) and whatever the metal is it is not magnetic, ruling out iron (?). Do you know of any way I can test it to see if it is in fact gold? I was going to try a gold test kit but have to get on to try it. I looked thru the rest of the bag and found 3 more smaller pieces with these 'beads' on them. Acc to the label on the bag, the rocks are from quarries in the Southwest United States, but it didn't specify what state. If you want, I can send you a picture of them(but I will need an email address to do so). ~ Love your vids. Have learned a lot from them. Keep up the awesome work.

It's amazing how much microscopic gold is in there that is impossible to see without the scope. 1 and 2 inch nuggets all over my tv screen and nothing visible in the pan. I'm a petroleum geologist in Oklahoma City, US. Sedimentology is one of my favorite subjects, gold being a burgeoning interest. I'm glad I found this particular video on your channel. Question: statistically, do you notice your larger nuggets exhibiting more rounding and erosion that your smaller nuggets? Also, I've notice your smaller nuggets are quite flattened, would you think this supports your idea that the gold is coming from quartz in the shale seams?

    • @Danhurd
      @Danhurd  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, all the nuggets seem to be the same - the bigger ones aren't more rounded. I don't think the gold is coming from the quartz in the shale seams. I think the gold has been wedged into the shale and flattened that way

    Hello Dan! You know that Is what I love about this hobby is that it engages your brain because it does take research, looking at old maps, reading the geology, reading old mine reports and so on and getting boots on the ground. Looking at gold like this can often tell a big story. I agree most of those haven't traveled very far if at all. If they had they would be flat and quite smooth. That claim needs a really close look for hardrock pay zones. Wont be a easy undetaking but certainly worth the effort.

    Time to look that claim over for seams of quartz and test them. It is sure that the gold you have here did not travel very far in the river, larger than normal and with many inclusions of host minerals. So I would think those cracks are the washed out seams , can you imagine how much smaller flood gold could of washed from those seams. This will be a interesting to watch as you unfold the mystery, because that did not appear to be a likely collection point of water moved gold. I mean grate cracks but it appeared in video to be high up the bank and on the out/fast side of a bend in the river. Not like any of the spots you have shown us on that river before in both size of and placement of the gold. Now would your current claim type on that spot allow you to go after hard rock deposits?

    It's probably hard to get a scale in there or well expensive. Panned by the ocean 1st time there's a tiny flake on exam w/ RS 100x it looks like Gold on crystal. I'd toss it but I'm also looking for consistency w/ a Hypothesis that Earth was a Supernova. I need the lab on Campus. Second look looks like sand grain sized gold. I did it! I get two out of 1 w/ this a Thesis and gold.

    Hey Dan, I already have a digital microscope, and although the one you're giving away (November 2019) may give better images than mine, I think that if I win your draw I would opt for a bag of paydirt.

    They could have got in that crevice a long time ago maybe that claim has not been worked well before. Be nice if you had some lode on that claim. I need a microscope it will make me feel like a rich man lol.
    The whits nugget is very interesting hope its what you think it is. A video on how you test it would be very interesting if its possible.
    Lovely gold it all mine you know lol ;-)

      Great suggestion - I might do a video on the testing. You are right about that gold being in that crevice a long time. It could be very, very old
