I would personally take out your SIM in your phone, download VPN - connect to US and then log in to new account on phone and change everything there.
I also had few people saying that their account was shadowbanned after few days.
On the other hand, there are people who say it works for them great so I am not 100% sure what exactly is the cause of shadowbans

Stay with personal account and reach 1k followers to put your link in BIO.
Usually people wait until they get 1000 followers and THEN they put the link in the bio

Wouldn't Tiktok just suspend the account or change it back to your orginal country when it sees your org sim on the phone even though u used vpn?
If that was true, wouldn’t they do the same when we’re just travelling? I once bought US sim card (travel sim card) from Amazon, created an account and then started using it on my regular phone with UK number and it was fine - didn’t have any issues - but that’s only my experience so I can’t tell you this is what will happen to you - but I do think it’s worth to try - alternatively you could take your sim off and only use WIFI when uploading videos

I am not sure about that to be honest - I once had UK & US account on my phone and both were working without any problems - but it's worth to say that I did not go viral, but I did get couple of thousands of views on each account - so I feel like it could work. But maybe to be safe, keep your US account on laptop only and see how that goes :)
