Honestly, if the wife thinks that her father acting like such a tool is just "harmless fun" or something like that, then I would have had my parents treat her the same and see how SHE likes it.
It happens. Growing up in an alcoholic home can lead (usually) to three things: completely refraining from booze and avoiding all situations where booze is involved (me), becoming an enabler and "they have no one else to look after them" (my brother), or becoming an alcoholic themselves (my sister - she has been clean for 19 years now). When the abuser is a parental figure and an alcoholic, it isn't as easy as "walk away". The dynamics are so different than "normal families". Not everyone has what it takes until they themselves hits "rock bottom" as the "caretaker".
Being abused either verbally or physically by your in laws unacceptable. But what is worse is when your spouse doesn't stand up and protect their partner as well as making excuses or denying it's actually happening.
My take on puppy : they are happy and save with the OP and he got another puppy because he felt like dogs were far superior company to his ex and her family

Mary should be on her husband side and speak with her father and let him know he should stop acting like a child. Mary thinks it is alright for her father to disrespect Matthew, Matthew need to just walk away from Mary and never look back.
I hate to say that Mary has a messed up relationship with her father, she seems to be blind to his faults. Mary doesn’t seem to care about her husband or respect him very much. I don’t think this family will be happy together.
I honestly think Paul lives in some kind of backwards universe when it comes to his really backwards logic. And Mari and her mother seem to be way too deep in the fog for the OP to try and get through to the both of them about how toxic Paul is, and I honestly hope that OP gets full custody of that baby if it even is his Environment full of a bunch of loons is not healthy seeing how Mari turned out.
That’s not what Matthew meant. Paul was a CDL driver. Depending on the company he was working for, some companies do not let their truck drivers eat and drive. Very unsatisfying story! If you invest that much time, at least make it realistic. I don't mean the aspect about an abusive alcoholic father and his enabling daughter - sadly this exists. But as a RN myself: What hospital on earth would hire a doctor just because of her looks?! Especially one who continues to makes so many mistakes? Matthew knew about this, but in a way covered up for his wife, thereby risking people's lives as it would be impossible for him to prevent everything Mary would decide or do wrong! Besides: She passed all the demanding studies and exams to become a doctor, yet is that incompetent? Doesn't make sense. And this education is anything but a cakewalk, so not even as a nurse you just take some tests and - violà - be a physician, as Matthew claimed! About the pregnancy: I truly expected that Mary had cheated on Matthew, as common in these stories, considering her "crap"py reaction after he discovered her test... She clearly lacked skills not only concerning her job, if she wasn't even able to hide the test to surprise him! Plus thinking of her dad to be a fitting babysitter for her child? Also I hate the imbalance here: Way too much time spent on Matthew's distress, and only a few minutes for the aftermath. Why the sudden rush after nearly 1 1/2 hours?
Story was to long, 8 min in and we established the toxic father/ daughter relationship and the issue between father and husband. Really could have edited a lot out and still kept the story intact.
Okay I'm still watching this, but is this guy REALLY throwing a tantrum because someone asked him to get a beer and finds that "degrading?" I was expecting him to say that he was asked to wear a maid's costume while getting the beer, but nope. Wow. At this point, I can see why the dad can't stand him. I'm sure it will change, but having a fit because someone asks you to get a beer from the fridge is total cry-baby stuff

Other nurses / docs would witness at least some of the mistakes; I REALLY hope that irl this would be the end of such a "professional"!
I am very disappointed with the ending, he deserved more than 3min summary after a whole 1hr + story and mistreatment. Where is the last laugher story of his ? She don’t beg for regrets?
Are they married or dating get it together people! Smdh
OMG, this story goes on and on and on and on and on... Enough already. Shorten the stories.
This is too long. I had hoped these would get shorter.
Ok this Mathew is a little over the top. Going to put him in jail because he stole wallet? Not saying FIL is great but damn. He taught the dog to get beer. It's a trick like any other. Him getting a beer doesn't hurt him or anyone else doing the trick. And I dont see why the wife MAKES the husband go. Let him stay home. It's just a dinner
